“Abundant Life Within” by Maria Lentine

In addition to batik and painting, Maria also creates beautiful jewelry.  She is largely self taught but has studied and learned from very gifted artists of design and watercolor. Through her art she is able to offer different parts of her personality.  Her serious adult side is shown through her watercolors and her playful child side shows in her soft batik paintings.  She feels working in acrylics brings out her philosophical side which shows in her black and white series.

“Snowbirds” by Maria Lentine

Maria worked and traveled with Club Med for five years teaching English and found that no matter what country she was visiting, the sunrises and sunsets and the tranquility of the tropical landscape were a constant and gave her peace.  Since then she has worked with designers and clients creating hand painted fabrics, murals, commissioned paintings and directing art galleries.

“Awake At Dawn and Give Thanks for another day of  loving” by Maria Lentine

After a severe accident, Maria’s painting arm was crushed and reconstructed.  She found that painting and jewelry making served as a healing method in regaining her mobility and motor skills.  She also discovered yoga was able to aid in her rehab and it became a transformative experience.

“Yoga and art are who I am and my intention is to continue sharing this with others.”

“Opening to the fruits of life” by Maria Lentine

“Deep Calls To Deep” by Lynn Doyal

Lynn Doyal is showcasing her unique, beautiful and contemporary work for at this  exhibit. Lynn combines hand stitching, beading, oil and acrylic paint all done on canvas. Due to the intricate number of details in each painting, her work is best viewed up close in order to appreciate the fine workmanship. Many of her works are scanned, enlarged and digitalized allowing for a more abstract and dramatic component. She delights in the different impact the same image can have when size is introduced as an additional element.

Lynn was born and raised in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. She received a Fine Arts degree from the University of South Florida.  She worked for Exxon at their New York headquarters and then transferred to Florida.  Working in corporate sales, she then moved to Xerox before starting her own company, “Signature Chocolates”.  Lynn specialized in providing premiums and incentives to corporations, hotels and cruise lines, around the globe.

“Blues” by Lynn Doyal

After raising her family, Lynn resumed her creative endeavors and developed her unique method of marrying contemporary design with old school techniques on canvas. Her original pieces of exquisite handstiching and detail can best be appreciated up close. When her designs are enlarged they make for a more abstract and dramatic component. The same image can have a different impact when size is introduced as an element.  “This marriage of image, technique and materials is distinctive and causes people to talk about what they are seeing because there is nothing else like it”.

Lynn’s award winning art pieces live most happily in contemporary settings.  They especially delight interior designers, complimenting the  spaces they design with appreciative clients in mind.  Lynn’s painstaking technique of painting and embellishing the canvas with hand-stitched beads and colorful threads make each piece one-of-a-kind.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

“Wildfire” by Joseph Marcou

Joseph Marcou was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. His mother was a teacher and a talented artist, so art was always a part of his life. He began drawing and making things at an early age. His parents died young and at 16 he moved to Mexico with his uncle who was a comptroller of a U.S. Commission. One night while at a concert he sketched the pianist. He showed it to his uncle’s friend, the artist Enrique Asunsolo, who realized his talent and suggested that Joe make art his career. This was his defining moment.

“Starlight Gardenia” by Joseph Marcou

Joe attended the Art School of New York State Tech, majoring in commercial art, now called graphic design. He served as Art Director at several design firms before becoming National Director over four International Paper Company package design studios. His last position was Revlon’s Director of Package Design.

He then opened Joseph Marcou Design Inc. which he ran for 33 years, specializing in package design, logo and trademark development, corporate brochures and annual reports. Some of his clients were Gorton’s of Gloucester, Johnson and Johnson, and Perillo Tours, to mention a few.

“Red Poppy” by Joseph Marcou

Throughout his long design career, Joe continued fine art painting for himself. When he finally retired from the corporate world , he was able to turn to the sheer enjoyment of creating art full time. He is particularly well known for his extraordinary floral paintings, capturing their essence with drama and unusual style. His paintings are in many private national and international collections. He has been represented by the Farnsworth Gallery and exhibits his work in many outdoor art fairs.  Joe says he is inspired by the resilience of nature and what its limitless imagination and whimsy creates.

Marlene Rose’s unique work refers to a personal system of symbols that derive their power and strength from the common core shared with our ancestors. Rose rides this ancient energy, and, through the glass, reaches out into time, linking the fragments of what she sees and her part-remembered memories of the past. These glimpses become her visions, and her visions soar into the future, frozen forever in the icy-hot stillness of the glass.

BenzaitenMarleneRoseBrilliant Gold Buddah 22x9x2

Brilliant Golden Buddha by Marlene Rose

Rose uses a process based on the thousands-year-old tradition of bronze casting, adapted only recently for glass. She pours liquid molten glass into a carefully prepared sand mold, then cools it for six days or more in a specially controlled oven before cracking open the mold and seeing what she has made. This method of making the glass aligns perfectly with the imagery she sees. The rawness and the immediacy of working the sand; the thrill and danger of pouring this magical lava, thousands of degrees hot; and the patient gestation of the piece in the annealing oven. These processes all inform, and are integral in, the final finished creation.

“The glass may look like a relic of some ancient time, but each piece holds inside itself the sum of the sharp shards of what I have seen, of unnamed emotions, of visions, concepts and memories. These common threads of human imagery, passing through cultures and time… I am compelled to weave and recompose their nuances, all to communicate the immortal vibrancy of the human spirit”.
