Gold Coast Watercolor Society Calls For Entries To “Apparently Watercolor” Exhibit, Open To Non-Members
Gold Coast Watercolor Society is calling for water media entries to their upcoming Exhibition, “Apparently Watercolor”. The exhibit will be judged by Soon Y. Warren, NWS, AWS, TWSA. Cash and Merchandise Awards will be given. This Exhibit is open to members and non-members. Entry deadline is February 12th. The Rickie Report shares the details and urges you to apply! Since beginning her career as a full time artist in 1998, Soon has had many exhibitions and won extensive numbers of awards. With her vibrant watercolor technique she has become much sought after as a teacher and author and has published a number of instructional books and dvd’s. Her paintings are in the permanent collection of several museums, including the National Watercolor Museum, as well as in many private collections.

Eligibility:

Florida artists and GCWS Members may enter.
Watermedia may include any combination of watercolor, tempera, gouache, opaque watercolor, acrylic, casein, ink, charcoal, gesso, watercolor crayons, pencils and pens including metallic.
One must exclude water-soluble oils as well as any other similar substance.
Acceptable surfaces for watercolor are substrates created for watermedia. For example: paper, clay coated surfaces (Clayboard, Aquaboard, Ampersand), synthetic surfaces, (Yupo, Tiger Rag), illustration board and flat watercolor canvas.
Watercolor Collage is acceptable, but newspaper, magazine or non-watercolor material cutouts will not be accepted.
Works must be original i.e., not done under class instruction, critiqued and changed, not a copy of another artist’s work.
Work must be done by a single artist not a collaborative work.
Work must have been completed within the last three years; any submitted work must not have been previously displayed in a GCWS judged show.
Tasteful nudes will be accepted into this show.
Entry and fees:
Artists may enter one or two paintings. A non-refundable fee of $30 for GCWS members, $35 for non-members, must accompany the entry form. No changes can be made after entry is received. No refunds will be made.
Sizing and framing requirements:
All types of frames and mats are acceptable except those that are ornate or heavy.
Saw tooth hangers are not permitted.
Maximum size frame is less than 48”in any direction.
Work must be sturdily framed under Plexiglas, wired and ready for hanging.
Please cross brace large pieces. (work will be rejected if it does not comply and fees will NOT be refunded.)
Conditions and liabilities:
The submission of entries to this competition shall constitute an agreement on the part of the artist to the terms and conditions as set forth in this prospectus.

The Gold Coast Watercolor Society (GCWS) is a resource for artists, both new and experienced,. We are proud to be the largest watercolor group in Florida with over 200 members. The Society was incorporated in February,1976 and its founder and first President was Jerry McClish, a noted watercolorist.
