Barry Seidman Shares “A Feast for the Eyes” at Cultural Council of Palm Beach County Gallery
It’s a perfect match! “Feast for the Eyes” art/photo series by renown fine art photographer, Barry Seidman, is a tribute to local Florida farmers and farmers’ markets. Foodies and photo enthusiasts love the “portraits” of vegetables and the suggestive poses and relationships between them. Seidman finds his subjects at Palm Beach County Greenmarkets and has developed a deep appreciation for the farmers who take pride in the beauty of their produce. Currently being exhibited in Swifty’s Restaurant in New York, it attracted the attention of notables in the industry including Eric Ripert and Donatella Arpaia, who attended Barry’s opening in Chelsea this past fall. The series will be making its debut in Florida at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County March 21 to April 18. The private opening is March 19 for VIPs. The Rickie Report shares the details and a few sneak peeks.

Renowned, still life photographer Barry Seidman exhibited his latest series, “Feast for the Eyes” at Swifty’s Restaurant located in New York City. This show followed the recent successful debut of Seidman’s intriguing photographic series at the Gallery at Fotocare, in Chelsea, which dazzled photography enthusiasts as well as food world luminaries. The series will be making its debut in Florida at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County March 21 to April 18. The private opening is March 19 for VIPs. In addition, Seidman will present an Artist Talk on April 4th, which is Open to the Public.
Seidman tells The Rickie Report, “Inspiration is sometimes so illusive, but then there it is – like magic – in the splendor of nature! ‘Feast for the Eyes’ took me on a voyage through the voluptuous shapes, pure colors and beautiful textures found at local greenmarkets. When you take the time to examine freshly harvested fruits and vegetables, they are extraordinary. They look different, feel different and taste better than the store-bought ordinary variety”.
“Visiting greenmarkets became an obsession. While I would study the produce with my eyes, my wife would study with her taste buds. Fortunately, she is a gourmet cook, so my feast for the eyes also became a feast for the palate. As I study and choreograph my subjects, I find sensuous curves, hidden personalities and relationships of form: some are beautiful, some are strange, but all unique. With this series, I hope to bring attention and appreciation to those who plant, grow, harvest and make these feasts for the eyes available to us at our local greenmarkets and farms”.
Recognized as one of the top, still-life photographers in the country, Seidman continues to exhibit his fine art photography in numerous, one-man, fine art shows in New York City and South Florida and has contributed to numerous group shows.
Seidman’s subjects became extraordinarily alive. In this series, Seidman creates relationships between his subjects …sensuous, sexy and voluptuous … bringing them to life.
Seidman then started to devote his time to fine art photography, using his vast techniques and knowledge of lighting and design as a foundation. This led to various solo and group exhibitions all while still connected to the advertising business.
A few years ago, Seidman, and long-time business partner and wife, Mary Ann Kurasz, relocated to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida where he built a studio to focus on his fine art work. He also maintains a studio presence in New York where he continues to shoot for advertising clients. Seidman’s fine art exhibitions have included: Bagged; Aperture Art; Three Sides of Seidman; Selections from Six; Excerpts; Drinks and Smoke; Me, Now; Handscapes; New Eyes and Feast for the Eyes.
‘New Eyes’ is also the title of his 338-page photo-biography, a compilation of his fine-art photographic series. The large, illustrative book presents 14 of his fine-art series in a signed and numbered, limited edition.
