“Beauty For Ashes” by TD Gillespie

TD Gillispie is a multidisciplinary artist working in installation, oil painting, and mixed media. The medium selected to make an artwork is one which might make the intended point the strongest. The art is provocative, reflective, and metaphoric, as she is continually exploring our deepest thoughts, feelings and fantasies in new and unexpected ways. Her installations are room-like reflective spaces created using specific found objects that inspire and trigger memory. These objects are determined after much consideration of how to deliver a specific message.

“Big Bang” by TD Gillespie

She states, “With these found objects I re-purpose them to create a space to give new meaning to an old object but keeping the integrity of the original object as a part of the focus. This is a juggling act.” Some recurring themes are toys, home, introspection, and sweet/sinister. The work is centered on reflection of thoughts from the past merged with present circumstances that we all face.

“The Spirit House” by TD Gillespie

TD Gillispie lives and works in West Palm Beach, Florida. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums including Dacia Gallery in New York City, Art Palm Beach, 101 Exhibit in Miami, Boca Raton Museum of Art, and Whitespace: The Mordes Collection in West Palm Beach. Gillispie’s paintings have been featured in Studio Visit Magazine. She was born in Columbus, Ohio and attended Marshall University. TD is the Palm Beach County 2016 winner of the South Florida Cultural Consortium.

“Peepshow” by TD Gillespie

One of her installations, “Peepshow”, is on view in “Inhabited” at the Projects in FATVillage, Fort Lauderdale through its final Art Walk on Saturday, March 30, and another, which will include “Big Bang” and “Bazooka” along with new work, will be installed in the same location for an exhibition entitled, “Ripped From the Headlines”, opening for preview on Friday, April 26, and Art Walk, Saturday, April 27.
