Boca Raton Museum Art School is busy this summer with summer camp for children, workshops for teenagers, and adult summer classes.  Weekly summer day camp takes place June 4 to August 10, 2018.  Summer Camp at the Boca Raton Museum Art School is so much fun kids don’t know they’re learning! At the end of the summer all children and their families are invited to a special reception for the “Youth Summer Art Camp Exhibit” at the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Mizner Park to celebrate each child’s first museum showing!  The Rickie Report shares the details and urges everyone to sign up now!

BOCA RATON MUSEUM ART SCHOOL SUMMER CAMP  (ages 5 to 12)

Weekly summer day camp June 4 to August 10, 2018

Summer Camp at the Boca Raton Museum Art School is so much fun kids don’t know they’re learning!  

Children explore art techniques and art concepts. Art projects are geared to age groups:  5 to 7, 8 to 10, 11 to 12.   Different theme weeks and a wide variety of fun creative art projects stimulate children’s imaginations.  Theme weeks include: Anime & Cartooning; Making Friends with Masters; Art Around the World; Painting People, Places, and Things; 3-D Art /Sculpture; and Pop Art with a POW.    

At the end of the summer all children and their families are invited to a special reception for the “Youth Summer Art Camp Exhibit” at the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Mizner Park to celebrate each child’s first museum showing!

$285 per week, early care and late care available. Limited financial aid is available.

TEEN SUMMER WORKSHOPS (ages 13 to 18)

June 4 to August 10, 2018

Teen workshops meet for four afternoons per week (not on Mondays). These workshops focus on different art techniques and portfolio preparation : Comics and Cartooning, Fashion Design and Sewing, Figure Drawing, Sculpture,  and Jewelry Making. These workshops meet for four afternoons per week 1pm to 3pm. Video Production and Photography workshops meet 10am to 3pm and are held at the Boca Raton Museum in Mizner Park.

Boca Raton Museum Art School Presents “5 x 5 + 1”, An Eclectic Exhibit Of Six Artists

The Boca Raton Museum Art School is presenting an Exhibit, “5 x 5 + 1”, of six artists who represent a cross section of activity and individual accomplishments in the Boca Raton Museum Art School.  The aim is to present five artworks by each artist to provide an appreciation of the individual artists’ intentions and skills.  The Opening Reception takes place on Tuesday, June 20th and is available for viewing June 20th through July 23rd.  The Rickie Report shares the details and some sneak peeks of the Exhibit. Lisa Borden started taking class at the Art School three years ago; she has studied with Eydi Lampasona, Jane McIntyre, and Chris Lopez. Both her figurative and abstract work recently have been in many exhibits.

Kent Burkhardsmeier, an accomplished photographer, has been taking photographs for over twenty-five years and recently joined the masters’ photo class with Allan Pierce.

Marta Cruz, an experienced jeweler, has studied jewelry with almost all of our jewelry teachers perfecting her techniques working with silver, Florida Black Coral, Art Metal Clay, enameling and other materials.

Charles Langjahr often exhibits his collages and paintings in local venues and has taken classes with a variety of instructors.

“ Boot Camp for Expressionists: The Nude in Landscape and Abstraction” is a four day intensive painting workshop with popular instructor Miles Laventhall. August 15 to August 18. This is a terrific painting workshop in which you might be tired each evening, but exhilarated at the end of the week. This is a wonderful way for novices and experienced artist to get your creative endorphins racing and create new paintings.

Fashion Design & Sewing workshop teens are learning to use sewing machines and making a variety of garments. 1 – 3:30pm, August 2 – August 5.

Focus On Photography At Boca Raton Museum Of Art School And New Spring Classes

The Photography Department at the Boca Raton Museum’s Art School has grown in the past two years. With addition of two new instructors, there are more daytime, evening and Saturday classes for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students and a special class “Learning from the Masters” that gets access to the Boca Raton Museum’s collection of over 2,000 photographs. Get inspired by up-close examination of works by Arnold Newman, Diane Arbus, Alfred Stieglitz and other photography masters.  William Ewing, guest curator of the exhibit “Arnold Newman: Master Class” at the Boca Raton Museum of Art will present a talk at the Art School on Tuesday, April 19th. 6-week term runs from 4/18 to 5/28.

New classes include Pastels with Roxene Sloate, and Portrait Painting from Photographs.
