‘ART’RAGEOUS DRAWING AND PAINTING FROM LIFE

Learn the fundamentals of drawing and painting while sketching objects from life. Experimentation and creativity are encouraged to develop confidence in working with a variety of media.

COMIC CHARACTER CREATOR: HEROES & VILLAINS

Have fun creating original hero and villain characters and creative creatures while learning the basics of cartooning and everything anime. Create stories full of action and suspense by building a story arc with a beginning, middle, and end.

3-D SCULPTURE SENSATIONS

Learn techniques for constructing sculptures with a variety of fun materials while exploring the basic elements of art: color, form, line, shape, space, texture, and value.

COMIC CRAZE: CREATIVE STORYTELLING

If you love to draw and have ever wished you could bring your drawings to life through cartooning, this is the camp for you! Develop original characters, situations, and storylines, then combine them with hand drawn elements of constructed animations.

ARTIST’S STUDIO: DRAWING SKILLS & TECHNIQUES

This week’s camp is designed to help emerging young artists build strong technical skills utilizing a variety of drawing techniques and mediums. Use observation from life and imagination to create unique, one of a kind works of art.

Learn the fundamentals of pottery. Explore hand-building techniques as well as the use of a potter’s wheel to create decorative and functional objects, such as bowls, platters, plates, and cups.

Class starts on July 10, Tuesday 6:30 – 9 PM

 

Working from your own photographs, learn drawing and color mixing skills to obtain accurate proportions and skin tones. Cranial anatomy, paint handling, and the use of light will be discussed. Clear instruction is given through demonstrations and one-on-one guidance. Students learn the advantages of painting with oils to create lifelike portraits. (Live model for one session)

Traditional to Contemporary Painting Class with Instructors Scherer & Ouporov

Class starts Monday, July 2.  At  9 AM – NOON and 12:30 – 3:30 PM.

Explore a variety of classic and contemporary techniques that can be effective in any painting style: underpainting, glazing, scumbling, impasto, or direct painting. Working from life or photographic references, students learn to employ these techniques in the medium of their choice: oil, egg tempera, or acrylic paint as well as gold leaf.

Graphic Novels: Cartooning with Instructor Thomas Bruckner

Class starts on  July 11, Wednesdays at 6:30 – 8:30 PM 

Explore the elements of a successful comic book and graphic novel narration. This course focuses on drawing skills and developing personal style for creating comics, short stories, or Manga style illustrations. Learn about a variety of techniques such as penciling, inking, shading, character design, and effective story structure.

JUNE AROUND THE ART SCHOOL

June is a very active month at the Art School; Youth Summer Art Camp just started as well as the Summer Teen Art Workshops, 5 X 5 Student Exhibition at the School Gallery will take place on June 6, the Art School Faculty Exhibition and Artist Talk at the Wolgin Gallery at the Boca Raton Museum in Mizner on June 21 and Summer Adult classes for term A also started this week to make The Art School a very exciting and inspiring place to be.

 

 

10 WEEKS OF EXCITING AND CHALLENGING

YOUTH SUMMER ART CAMP

Led by professional art educators, children explore art techniques and artistic concepts. Art projects are geared to age groups 5-7, 8-10, and 11-12. Themed weeks and a wide variety of creative projects stimulate children’s imagination. A balance is sought between preserving children’s natural creativity and learning new skills to better express themselves.

Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm $285 Per Week

SUMMER TEENS ART WORKSHOPS

Ages 13 – 18 June 4 – August 10, 2018.

During the summer, the Art School offers four-day weekly workshops focusing on different art techniques, and workshops for students who are planning to apply to specialized arts middle and high school or college. All workshops from Figure Drawing, Fashion Design and Sewing, Photography and Video Production, Comics, Portfolio Development, Jewelry Making and Paper Sculpture and Beyond, meet Tuesdays through Fridays.

Summer Camp at the Boca Raton Museum Art School is so much fun kids don’t know they’re learning!  

Children explore art techniques and art concepts. Art projects are geared to age groups:  5 to 7, 8 to 10, 11 to 12.   Different theme weeks and a wide variety of fun creative art projects stimulate children’s imaginations.  Theme weeks include: Anime & Cartooning; Making Friends with Masters; Art Around the World; Painting People, Places, and Things; 3-D Art /Sculpture; and Pop Art with a POW.    

At the end of the summer all children and their families are invited to a special reception for the “Youth Summer Art Camp Exhibit” at the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Mizner Park to celebrate each child’s first museum showing!

$285 per week, early care and late care available. Limited financial aid is available.

TEEN SUMMER WORKSHOPS (ages 13 to 18)

June 4 to August 10, 2018

Teen workshops meet for four afternoons per week (not on Mondays). These workshops focus on different art techniques and portfolio preparation : Comics and Cartooning, Fashion Design and Sewing, Figure Drawing, Sculpture,  and Jewelry Making. These workshops meet for four afternoons per week 1pm to 3pm. Video Production and Photography workshops meet 10am to 3pm and are held at the Boca Raton Museum in Mizner Park.

Summer is around the corner and the Lighthouse ArtCenter is ready with their 46th Annual Summer Enrichment Camp program for ages 4 through 12!  There are scholarships available, based on financial need and the applications are available now! Sign up for The Time Machine, as your children will be immersed in creativity and artistic delight.  Each themed week takes ArtCampers on a journey through a virtual Art Time Machine, exploring famous pieces of art while revealing the history, customs, art techniques and cultures of each time period. Kids will create their own masterpieces in ceramics, drawings, mixed-media, painting and sculpture.
