Artists Of Palm Beach County Art On Park Sponsors “Now It Is Summer” Exhibit, Back To School Event, And Opens A Call For Photography

The Artists of Palm Beach County (APBC) offers such enrichment to Art On Park Gallery‘s Lake Park community!  Through their partnership with the Lake Park Library and Town of Lake Park Summer Camp, the public is invited to “Now It Is Summer”, a student exhibition. The Opening Reception takes place on Friday, August 9.  On Saturday, August 10, everyone is invited to the Town of Lake Park’s  “Back to School Extravaganza”. The event offers free backpacks and school supplies to over 700 K-12 students as well as haircuts/styles and other resources.  APBC offers an Art Salon on Monday, August 19, giving artists of all experience levels an opportunity to network.  In addition to all of these activities, APBC is opening a Call to Artists for “Through The Camera’s Eye”.  The Rickie Report shares all of the details and some sneak peeks.

The Artists of Palm Beach County, Inc. (APBC) in partnership with the Lake Park Library and the Town of Lake Park Summer Camp, presents a Children’s exhibit “Now It Is Summer.” As part of their summer camp experience, on July 9, 2019, a group of 7 to 12 year olds took part in a reading and art activity in the Lake Park Library. Librarian, Ileana Bell led the workshop. First she read to the children who listened attentively to the book “Now It Is Summer” by Eileen Spinelli, and then she instructed them to paint a picture of their summer using canvases and acrylic paints donated by the Artists of Palm Beach County. The kids were inspired to produce some wonderful artwork and they shared stories to describe their paintings with members of the artists group.

 

 

APBC will display their work and stories as well as photographs of their camp experience throughout the month of August in the Art on Park Gallery. Refreshments, including ice cream sundaes, will be served. The gallery is proud to be sponsoring this exhibition. It is hoped that the children seeing their artwork displayed in a true art gallery setting will enhance their confidence and their positive self-esteem.

APBC is delighted to be a sponsor for the Town of Lake Park’s Back to School Extravaganza which will take place on Saturday, August 10th in the Town Hall/Library Parking Lot, 535 Park Avenue, 10 am – 1 pm. The event offers free backpacks and school supplies to 700 K-12 students, free physicals, haircuts/styles and other resources.

Mark your calendars for other events at the gallery. The third Monday of each month at 6:30 PM the public is invited to an Art Salon. For this monthly gathering, artists are encouraged to bring a work of art and/or refreshments for sharing. Admission is free for members of APBC, but the general public is invited to attend the event for a $5.00 admission fee. Payment will be collected at the door and will be applied towards the membership fee, if one wishes to join at the meeting.

Event description:

“Through the Camera’s Eye” is a call to artists for both APBC members and non-members alike for a photography exhibition. All genres, subjects, capture types and photographic processes both historic and modern are eligible for our juried exhibition. Photography provides many things; proof that something happened, the ability to capture a moment or memories, or as a means of communication. We are hoping to see work that is innovative or interesting, artistic or awe-inspiring. All types of photography mediums including iphone, Cellphone, Polaroid, digital prints on any medium will be considered. We welcome all photographic artists to submit their work.Maximum Size: 36″ wide x 60″ high. Our panels cannot hold work that is wider than 36″ so please make sure that canvases or frames do not exceed this width.

 

 

Submission Deadline: Tuesday, 8/20/19 by midnight.

Notification to artists on or before Friday, 8/23/19

Hand delivery of artwork: Friday & Saturday, 8/30 & 8/31/19 from NOON to 5 PM.

Art Pickup: Friday & Saturday 10/4 & 10/5/19, NOON to 5 PM.

SUBMISSION FEES: $15 Members, $35 Non-members
If you would like to become a member or if your membership has lapsed, please send your $50/yearly membership fee with the exhibit application fee.

Applications and fee payments are to be sent to or dropped off at the gallery. Please use the form below. Once you have completed your application, email up to 3 jpg images of your work no larger than 3 MB each to artistsofpbc@gmail.com.

Images should include your last name and image title. In the subject of your email put “Through the Camera’s Eye.” Your email should include your name and phone number plus the title, type of photography, size (h x w), and price for each submitted work as it is on the application entry form below.

IMPORTANT: Members will receive 75% and Non-members will receive 60% of gross sales.
Please price your work accordingly. Juried by the Art on Park Gallery Management Committee.

The Marvin S. Cone Annual High School Juried Art Show honors its founder’s enthusiasm for young people and the arts.  Inspired by the creativity of art students in Martin County, he transformed the annual high school art exhibit into an event that brings the entire community together. The Arts Council of Martin County invites the public to the Court House Cultural Center Gallery on May 2 to meet the artists and view the exhibit.  The Exhibit is open now and continues through May 23.  A unique component of the High School Juried Art show is the awarding of Purchase Awards presented by the Superintendent, school principals, and local government entities and non-profits.  Purchase awards often represent the first sale of art that the emerging student artists can claim in what may inspire a future career choice.  The Rickie Report shares the details and some sneak peeks.

Cone Annual High School Juried Art Show honors its founder and his enthusiasm for young people, the arts, and his timeless effort in making the event what it is today. Inspired by the creativity of art students in Martin County, he encouraged them to pursue even greater achievements by transforming the annual high school art exhibit into an event that truly recognized student’s artistic accomplishments. The Arts Council of Martin County is proud to honor Mr. Cone’s legacy with this annual tradition.

After 10 exciting weeks of Youth Summer Art Camp, The Boca Raton Museum School of Art is ready to share the work from its artistic campers and celebrate their amazing talent at a Free Exhibition on Sunday, August 12.  Stop by the Free Open House on Saturday, August 25 to meet the faculty, enjoy demonstrations and raffles!  The Art School’s Faculty Exhibition takes place on August 30.  The Rickie Report shares the details and some sneak peeks.  The new semester starts September 4th, with over 120 classes per week!

Youth Summer Art Camp Exhibition

After a very productive and exciting 10 weeks of Youth Summer Art Camp, we are ready to share the work from our artistic campers and celebrate their amazing talent. Please join us on Sunday, August 12 from 1 to 3PM at the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Mizner Park for the closing reception. Campers, family and friends will have the opportunity to visit all exhibitions at the Museum for free only on that day.

Saturday, August 25, 1-4 pm

 

 

A fun afternoon to meet the teachers, visit the studios and see demonstrations of art techniques such as Drawing, Painting, Pottery, Ceramics and Clay Sculpture, Photography, Textiles Transformation, Japanese Flower Arrangement, Graphic Novels and Jewelry. Youth and Teen art classes also available for registration during Open House.  Raffles for art supplies, Gift Certificates and much more!

The Art School also offers after School and Saturday classes for Youth and Teens.

ARTNADO Calls For Student Art Contest Entries

ARTNADO 2015 announces a Student Art Contest, with 2 submission categories: 6 -8th grades and 9-12th grades.  ARTNADO, a fine art and fine craft show, will be held November 14 -15th at the Expo Center of the South Florida Fairgrounds.  All entries will be displayed and eligible for  prizes.  This is a Free Call For Student Art. Please share this with relatives, students and art educators.  Each entrant plus parents or guardians will be given Free Admission to ARTNADO.  There are a number of Drop-Off spots in Palm Beach County.  The Rickie Report gives you the details and the application form here.

Artistic Synergy, as part of its innovative art fair, ARTNADO, is hosting a Student Art Contest.  The event takes place at the South Florida Fairgrounds on November 14 & 15.  The Student Art Contest has two categories:  6 – 8th grades and  9 – 12th grades.

 

  • Any medium may be used
  • 2D art work can be no larger than 16″ x 24″
  • 3D art work can be no larger than 16″ x 24″
  • There is no theme
  • All 2D art must be ready to hang (in a frame and wired to be hung. No saw tooth hangers.)
  • Attach the application form to the back of all 2D, or accompanying 3D submissions
  • All entrants are required, unless other arrangements have been made prior, to pick-up their work at ARTNADO by the closing of the show at 5:00 PM November 15, 2015

 

The goal of ARTNADO is to encourage students to open their minds and be as creative as they wish.

 

The deadline for submission is October 1, 2015.

All submissions must include the appropriate parental or guardian signature.

 

There will two separate judgings:

The first will award First, Second and Honorable Mention in each of the categories

The second, by a different set of judges, will award Grand Prize.

The Grand Prize winner will be gifted free exhibition space in the next ARTNADO as well as an art-related gift.

February 6-8, 2015 International Kinetic Art Exhibit and Symposium created by the Boynton Beach Arts Commission produced by the City of Boynton Beach through its Art in Public Places program. It’s a signature cultural event for the City’s Strategic Plan and is key to it’s economic development planning.

The objectives of this biennial Symposium are to:

  • The goal is to deliver an Art and Cultural event that transcended typical art fairs, delivers international attention to the City of Boynton Beach and educated and engaged a diverse audience about public art.
  • Celebrate the dynamic and compelling aspects of today’s kinetic art to the general public, public art professionals, as well as art and museum curators, and gallerists.
  • Build public and private interest in collecting and/or commissioning kinetic art through exposure to its rich historical context and through exhibitions of its various contemporary forms.
  • Motivate educators to incorporate kinetic art into the S.T.E.A.M. curriculum. The importance of adding “art” to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) is to utilize both sides of the brain and to make learning “fun.”
  • Stimulate creative applications of various technologies in kinetic art, including “green” technologies in concert with the City’s Green Building Program.
  • Create a highly visible, bi-annual, international event that nurtures an exciting contemporary art form, while stimulating the local economy, creating an important cultural destination, and revitalizing a local community.
