It is May…Time to enroll in the Armory Art Center’s Summer Art Camp! Summer Art Camp at the Armory Art Center is filled with fun, creativity, character development, and self-esteem initiatives. The arts have the power to do all that and more! The innovative theme weeks will include drawing, painting, sculpture, jewelry, fashion, ceramics, and printmaking as a major focus enhanced with music, dance, games, and team building. Our camp leaders are skilled in working with youth in the arts. They take a special joy in supporting the imagination of our youth and know how to work with a variety of skill and dexterity levels. Background checks are conducted for all faculty. We look forward to partnering with you, the parent, to provide a safe, enriching, fun summer for your child.
Activities include:
* A week filled with art education
* Immersion in various creative techniques for diverse interests and skill building
* Field trips to local venues
* Art show receptions in July and August
Summer Art Camp runs from June 6 until August 12, 2016
Children grades 1-12 are accepted
Children are grouped by age:
ADVENTURES IN ART Grades 3 – 5
JUMPSTART Grades 1 – 2
ROCKIN’ ART WORKSHOPS Grades 6-12.

WEEK 1: June 6th-10th
Aloha Summer: A tribute to summertime with a Hawaiian theme: luaus, surf safaris, and sand art.
WEEK 2: June 13th-17th
Sun Solstice: Explore traditional and modern rituals; celebrations and monuments to the sun.
WEEK 3: June 20th-24th
Greeks and Geeks: Inventions and art of the Golden Age: togas, telescopes, and mythology
WEEK 4: June 27th-July 1st
Freedom: Free to Be Me! and what it means through art and self-expression. *field trip
WEEK 5: July 5th-8th
Magical Mystery Tour: Discover the mysteries of magic: wizards, wands, and trickery. *4 day week (July 4th holiday)
WEEK 6: July 11th-15th
Family Tree Fun: Follow your heritage—your family’s memoirs, legends, and the folklore of your ancestors.
WEEK 7: July 18th-22nd
Houston We Have a Problem: An exploration of our solar system, cosmos, space shuttles, and extraterrestrial life. *field trip
WEEK 8: July 25th-29th
Medieval Mischief: Princesses, knights, and dragons vs pirates, rogues, and scallywags.
WEEK 9: August 1st-5th
Body Beautiful: Embrace who you are through studies of the human figure and self portraits- realism and fantasy; fashion and identity.
WEEK 10: August 8th-12th
Art Rocks: Making art with rhythm, verse and performance, creating musical instruments.
Middle School and High School Grades 6th-11th
