“Abstract Orange Poppies” by Marilyn Bobbin Salisbury

Bobbin, originally from New York, has an Associates Degree in Art from Nassau Community College and also studied art at Mallory University.  She has attended classes and workshops in New York and Florida.  She has painted all her life, first in oil and now in watercolor and acrylics after her three year old ruined a number of oil paintings.  She loves painting things in nature: flowers, ocean and trees and never goes anywhere without her paints, brushes and lots of paper!  She enjoys realistic painting but continues to evolve into her own style, trying new products and techniques to produce colorful abstract works.

Bobbin is a Signature Member of the Palm Beach Watercolor Society and the Wellington Art Society.  She participates in all of their exhibits as well as others, including on line competitions. Bobbin is a member of the ” Sketchbook Project” of the Brooklyn Art Museum.  One of her sketchbooks led to her creation of “Silly Selma”, a children’s picture book series.  She is presently finishing the illustrations and hopes to publish them soon.   She tells The Rickie Report, “I frequently use watercolor and am guided by the spontaneity of creating beautiful new color mixes and shapes on the wet paper”.
