Port St. Lucie Art League Welcomes Public To Free Exhibit At Port St. Lucie Civic Center. Opening Reception On Thursday, January 9. Exhibit Runs Through March 12, 2020

The Port St. Lucie Arts League (PSLAL) invites the public to an Art Exhibition featuring over 30 member artists.  This free exhibit takes place at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center Gallery, with the Opening Reception on Thursday, January 9 featuring the music of Jack Eddington.  The exhibit continues through March 12, 2020.  PSLAL welcomes new members to join as advocates for the arts and promote quality, professionalism and diversity in their work. PSLAL provides a forum for the healthy exchange of creative ideas, support, encouragement, and inspiration from one another’s artistic creativity.  Many PSLAL artists have won local, national and international awards & their artwork is in many private collections.  The Rickie Report shares the details and some sneak peeks.

Joanne Lucia Florez, President of the Port St. Lucie Arts League tells The Rickie Report, ” Membership is open to all artists who create original work and to those who have an interest in or appreciation for the arts”.  This is a wonderful artist networking organization and newcomers are always welcome.  Monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Friday from September – May, 1 – 3  pm, at PSL Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd., Port St Lucie, FL, with plenty of free parking.

The PSL Arts League is a 501C non-profit organization for professional artists and those who appreciate the arts. The League was  organized in 1993 and enjoys a membership of over 65 creative professionals, which consists of a diverse group of artists who share a passion for creativity and support of the arts in the community. Their work consists of individual styles, techniques, and artistic explorations in a variety of art mediums: watercolors, acrylics, oils, 3D and mixed media. Each artwork is unique in expression that captures a chosen subject. Many PSLAL artists have won local, national and international awards & their artwork is in many private collections.  

 

League members are advocates for the arts and promote quality, professionalism and diversity in their work. PSL Arts League goals are to develop and sustain a membership of local artists, encourage networking, provide a forum for the healthy exchange of creative ideas, and support, encourage and inspire one another’s artistic creativity. The success of artists is shared by all. Mission Statement :  The mission of the Port St. Lucie Arts League is to advance, enhance and sustain our community’s cultural and artistic viability.  Our membership works to develop cultural awareness and provide increased opportunities for community access to the arts.  The PSL Arts League appreciates working together in partnership with many venues to make a difference in Port St. Lucie to Support Art & Artists in Our Community.  

 

Exhibitions/Displays:

Member’s work can be seen in the PSL Community Center, Harbor Place Assisted Living, Dawn’s Cafe and The Brennity at Tradition. In January – December, 2020, the PSL Arts League artists will have their work displayed at the Paula A. Lewis Library located 2950 SW Rosser Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL 34953

Membership is open to all artists who create original work and to those who have an interest in or appreciation for the arts.

PSL Arts League Meetings: Member meetings are held on the third Friday of each month, September – May, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, at PSL Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd., Port St Lucie, FL

Membership Dues: $35.00 due by Nov. 1

Lou Jawitz began his life-long love affair with photography while in the US Navy. Back in civilian life, he studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, while working with and assisting commercial photographers. He quickly advanced his own career shooting high profile campaigns for top tier advertising agencies, Fortune 500 clients, as well as travel and editorial assignments for internationally recognized corporations and publications. Lou Jawitz’s assignments and travels gave him great opportunities to shoot his personal work, primarily fine-art, nature and scenic images. Jawitz’s extensive photographic career, created while working out of his iconic New York City studio, included advertising work for many notable clients including Grey Advertising, Young and Rubicam, J. Walter Thompson, Nikon, RCA Records, Pfizer, GM, Subaru, and American Airlines.

His editorial and assignment work has appeared in numerous magazines and publications including Nikon World, Popular Mechanics, Shutterbug, and Popular Photography+ Imaging. Lou’s personal work has been exhibited in numerous New York galleries including the Nikon Gallery at Rockefeller Center and the Liberty Museum and Arts Center. Most recently, Jawitz’s work was shown in Florida at the Nathan D. Rosen Museum Gallery, Port St. Lucie Civic Center Art Gallery, Lake Worth Art League, Jonathan Dickenson State Park: ‘Floral Fusion 2016’, and the Coral Springs Museum of Art.

Jawitz’ work is in the permanent collections at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center and the Liberty Museum and Arts Center. Eager to share his love and knowledge of photography, Jawitz was an Adjunct Professor at Sullivan County Community College, and he continues to teach photography workshops to individuals and small groups both in Port St. Lucie and at his Neversink Photo Workshops in New York’s Catskill Mountains. This award-winning photographer moved to Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie and enjoys photographing the beautiful locales he’s exploring and discovering on the Treasure Coast, and he continues to lecture and show his work in his new home state.
