The Boca Raton Branch National League of American Pen Women (NLAPW) is hosting its annual membership luncheon at the beautiful Boca Woods Country Club on October 15, 2015. They’ll be kicking off their new 2015-2016 season of programs and special events.  

 

 

We invite the community to join us and learn how the Boca Raton Pen Women can enrich your life with art, music, books, poetry, drama, and much more. If you are a published writer, artist, composer or lover of the arts, you’ll find one-of-a-kind events and programs, and warm and welcoming new friends.

 

 

 

Opportunities to showcase your artistic creations in the public arena are arranged by our Art, Letters and Music Committees. You’ll have a chance to network with our creative members and expand your reach in the local community. You can participate in national webinars that offer valuable information and enter contests that interest and inspire you.

ABOUT NATIONAL LEAGUE OF AMERICAN PEN WOMEN:

The Boca Raton Branch of the National League of American Pen Women is a prestigious organization of professional women in the Arts – Published Writers, Authors, Poets, Musical Composers and Award winning Artists.

NLAPW’s corporate headquarters is based in Washington, D.C. and oversees branches all over the United States. The league boasts membership of such prominent women as Eleanor Roosevelt, Erma Bombeck, and local well-known artist Edna Hibel. Vinnie Ream, the only woman to sculpt President Lincoln from life, was an early member of NLAPW. Her statue of Lincoln now stands in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.

It’s Tea Time  for the Boca Raton Branch of the National League of American Pen Women.  Every October the Boca branch hosts an elegant Tea, inviting area female Artists, Authors and Musicians to come discover what being a member of Pen Women is all about. This serves as their annual recruitment for new members.

~ Tribute to Patricia Wilson ~

 

This year’s Tea will feature a Tribute to Patricia Wilson, who has served the Boca Raton Branch of NLAPW as a charter member for 37 of the 39 years the organization has been in existence. She has a lengthy resume, faithfully serving the Pen Women in various offices and capacities since 1977. In 1993, Pat was proclaimed Florida’s Pen Woman of the Year.

 

 

A retired newspaper columnist and freelance writer, Pat has always been involved in community and church activities in the city of Boca Raton, where she resides with her husband, Richard and daughter, Jennifer.  You will discover more about this illustrious lady at the Tea and in this year’s 2014-2015 Yearbook, which has been dedicated to her.

The Artists of Palm Beach County (APBC), a coalition of professional artists all of whom are Palm Beach County residents, is happy to announce their winter exhibit pARTners will be on display January 20 – March 28, 2014 in the Art on Park Gallery, 800 Park Avenue, in Lake Park.  An Opening Reception will be held on Tuesday evening, January 28th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Everyone is invited to view and purchase the art as well as enjoy drinks and refreshments at this free event. Purchases at the opening are discounted 10 percent.

pARTners, a juried exhibit, presents the work of accomplished APBC artists in a variety of mediums including oils, pastels, photography, ceramics, jewelry, and watercolors as well as mixed media and sculpture. In addition to the current exhibit, the gallery is now the studio home for nine talented resident artists, BJ Collister, Naomi Cordero, Lynda Donigan, Joseph Friedman, Pat Levey, Frances Lynn, Henry Mistretta, Brian Rosen and Dick Yosinoff. Their powerful artwork covers the walls on either side of the gallery and will be on display at the opening reception.  All work is available for purchase.  Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted.

The Artists of Palm Beach County will hold their monthly artists’ sharing gathering on Monday, April 8, 2013 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at 502 Palm Street, Suite 3, West Palm Beach, studio of Chisolm, renowned painter.

 

While attending the University of Southern Mississippi he participated in a number of art shows and represented the university in many local and regional competitions.  “Man Standing”, a figurative piece, won best in show and earned him a full scholarship to the University for the balance of his education.

They are offering classes and workshops at their new home, Art on Park, located at 800 Park Avenue in Lake Park, FL.  John Vincent Palozzi is leading a Drop-In Poetry Workshop ($10. per person) which meets each Saturday.  Everyone is expected to write and sharing is optional.  This workshop is open to anyone aged 16 years or older and all skill levels are welcome.  This is a perfect opportunity to improve your skill base and extend your comfort level.
