Celebrate Poetry At Three Free Events In December With Poets Of The Palm Beaches

Are you and emerging poet? A prolific poet? The Poets of the Palm Beaches will host three events in December, to which the public is welcome. Events take place in different parts of Palm Beach County and are FREE. Some Poetry Readings offer Cash prizes.  This month’s Form is: 4 Stanza Pantoum. Prompt: Use the name of a well known poet in your poem. We give you more information about this in the article. If you are curious, a beginner, intermediate or advanced poet, this is the organization to get involved with! Place: Palm Beach Friends (Quaker) Meeting House, 823 North A Street, Lake Worth. Just a little more than one block South of 10th Ave North.

Time: 2:00 PM. (Doors open at 1:45 PM)

Contest with cash prizes.

Open to the public. Original work only.

Third Sunday Reading Rules:

(1) Original work only. (2) One poem per round. (3) No poem more than one 8 1/2 x 11 page, in normal 12-point font. (4) Prose Poems no more than 250 words in normal 12-point font. (5) No introductions please. State your name, the name of your poem, and the form of your poem. All present may enter the contest, which is judged by the featured reader. Submission of a poem automatically conveys permission to print it in this newsletter, on our website and on YouTube if it wins. All rights revert to the authors upon publication. After the first round will be the Special Contest. The same rules apply as just stated, except that it must be the designated FORM. All present who have a poem written in the form may enter the contest, even if they entered the first round contest. For the third round, the same rules apply, or up to 3 poems, if none is over 5 lines. There is no contest for the third round.

Suggested Donation: $2 for members and their guests, $3 for non-members. Free for high school students.

September marks the first changeover of artwork on the walls of the Brewhouse Gallery! A serene space for chatting with a friend over a cup of fresh brewed coffees and a well-respected live venue for music, comedy, poetry readings  and killer trivia games – The Rickie Report suggests you take a look at their monthly line-up to make your plans now.  We normally give you a sneak peek to see the newest artwork hanging on the walls (which you can buy for YOUR walls at affordable prices), but this time we’re letting you be surprised!  Stop by and meet the artists for an Open House on September 25th.

Brewhouse Gallery Offers Art and Events: Don’t Say You’re Bored

The Brewhouse Gallery is bringing in the crowds for the art, the brews and the events!  Thursday, July 31st is the monthly Open House.   A wide range of coffees/ teas during the day and handcrafted beers/wine in the evenings  plus a full calendar of activities are offered: an art gallery, place to meet a friend, play a board game, share the Trivia mania or have a big laugh during the Comedy nights.  Bring your own food or take advantage of the food trucks that park nearby.  The Rickie Report shares the details here.
