Cash Prizes will be awarded at the juried exhibition, which is open to all media except photography (save your photos for next year’s contest). Artists under the age of 18 may apply at no charge. Deadline: Entries will be accepted at the Visitor Center from Sunday, October 28 through Saturday, November 3, 2018. The Visitor Center is open 9 AM – 4 PM daily.

Accepted entries will be on display in the auditorium starting Monday, November 5.

The Reception and Award Presentation will be Sunday, November 11, 2018 in the Visitor Center Auditorium at 1 PM.

Rules: Entries that do not comply will be disqualified.

ß  The contest is open to all artists.
ß  Each artist may submit one or two original works of art.
ß  No giclees and no previous award winners will be accepted.
ß  No photography. Please enter your photographs in our photography contest next spring.
ß  The subject must be inspired by“Loxahatchee Vision.”
ß  Any media or mixed media may be used (except photographs).
ß  Each entry must be framed and ready for hanging. Wrapped canvas or painted edges are OK.
ß  Each entry can be no more than36″on a side including the frame.
ß  Please label the back with a card securely attached stating the title of the work, the media type, the artist’s name, the artist’s contact information and the sale price.
ß  Friends of Loxahatchee will use their best efforts to sell the entries and will retain 25% of the sale price as a contribution to theRefuge.
ß  Each artist will be expected to remove their art between Saturday,January 12 and Sunday,January 20,2019.

Categories: Entries will be judged on technical excellence, originality, creativity, visual impact, and artistic merit. Judges’ decisions are final.

ß  There are two categories-Youth/Student (through high school) and Adult(age 18 and above).
ß  Each category will be awarded a FirstPrize($250);a SecondPrize($150);and a ThirdPrize($100)
ß  Judges may designate up to 3 entries in each category as Honorable Mentions.
ß  Judges may decide not to award cash prizes if there are less than 10 entries in that category.

Entry Fee and Form: A check or money order made to the Friends of Loxahatchee must accompany the completed entry form. Place both in an envelope labeled Friends Art Contest and bring to the Visitor Center with your entry.

Theme: Florida’s wild life (endangered species are encouraged).

DETAILS:  

Art Entries are to be hand painted Original Art in any media (hand painted art, oil, acrylic, watercolor, color pencil, pastels, charcoal, collage, drawings). No Photography.

Each entry at $20 (no limits)

Submission deadline is January 31, 2018.

Accepted Art will be displayed from February 3 to March 3, 2018.

Accepted art will be Auctioned during a Silent Auction on  Saturday, March 3rd.

 Artists will note their minimum acceptable bid when they apply.

Will be announced by March 3, 2018 and Winnings will be awarded as follow :
1st place 39% of entries proceeds
2nd place 10% of entries proceeds

The contest is open to all artists. Each artist may submit one or two works of art, inspired by “Loxahatchee Visions.” Any media or mixed media may be used, with the exception of photography. (Save your photographs for next year’s photo contest!)

Each entry must be framed and ready for hanging.

Wrapped canvas edges are fine.

Size limit is 36″ on each side, including frame.

Prizes will be awarded in 2 categories – Novice (to age 18) and Adult (age 18 and older).

First prize – $250; Second prize – $150; Third prize – $100.

The entry fee is $10 for Friends members, volunteers and Refuge staff, and $25 for non-members.

The fee is waived for Novices.

Bring your artwork along with the entry form and entry fee in an envelope labeled “Friends Art Contest” to the Visitor Center.

Friends of Loxahatchee Shares Call For “Loxahatchee Visions”

Friends of the Arthur R Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge announce their Sixth Annual Juried Art Contest and Show, “Loxahatchee Visions”.  This is open to all artists, including youth.  The Rickie Report shares the application here. Directions: Arthur R Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge is located in Boynton Beach, FL., between Boynton Beach Boulevard and Route 441.

In our Visitor Center, located in the Cypress Swamp next to the 0.4 mile boardwalk, you can learn about our wildlife, habitats, management activities and even see what the interior of the Refuge looks like on a virtual airboat ride, all without ever actually stepping outside. Other informative and interactive exhibits and displays include the history of the Refuge, a tree island and gator hole diorama, and night sounds of the Everglades. Come out and see for yourself!
