A spiritual musical journey that speaks to the Exodus through the eyes of Miriam the Prophetess. Stories are drawn from Torah and from midrash. Miriam, the keeper of the well, the voice of the women, along with her brothers Aaron and Moses, leads the journey. Explores family relationships of mothers raising strong women, father’s influence, meaningful love relationships, offspring and generational heritage. As we wander through the desert searching for meaning, the cast of seven beautifully trained voices tells the stories of Miriam, Zipporah, Yocheved and significant others. Announces the  Grand Opening Reception

Art on Park Gallery

800 Park Ave in Lake Park

Friday, January 25, 2013

5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The gallery is another step in establishing an art community corridor on Park Avenue.  Mo’s Art Theatre, Easel Art Supply, and dance studios already lined the avenue, and now Lake Park and the Artists of Palm Beach County can proudly boast about the new art gallery. Come to meet the artists, see their beautiful work, enjoy a glass of wine, refreshments, and live music.

The current exhibition includes the work of over thirty artists whose work represents various media, among them oils, ceramic, acrylics, watercolor, and photography as well as books of poetry. The group is made up of visual artists, writers and is open to performing artists and musicians. The gallery has co-op space available on a juried basis.

The Artists of Palm Beach County include a wide array of creators.  Beside the predictable array of  painters, glass makers, sculptors, ceramicists and jewelers, this group also includes authors, poets, musical composers – and the work you will see is nothing predictable!   The poets paint, the sculptors compose and they have joined forces to offer a nurturing, supportive sense of camaraderie.

With over 100 members, there are currently one third of them showing their work in the gallery. Some of the artists use their space for exhibition while others have their brushes and canvases at the ready and will work here.  There is a spacious area for the artist-members to offer classes which will be open to the public. There are moveable walls and plenty of electrical outlets in the renovated space.

The Artists of Palm Beach County incorporated in 2004 as a not-for-profit group.  “Art on Park is a dream come true,” Joe Friedman tells The Rickie Report.  A committee from the Association has been in negotiations with the City of Lake Park for almost a year.  “The space will feature member artists on a rotating basis, in addition to the availability of leasing spaces of varying sizes”, he explains. There are over 25 spaces available.

Becoming a member is $50. annually and the perks are IMG_0260tremendous! Monthly meetings include sharing your work with everyone, demonstrations and guest speakers.  We don’t think you will come only for the food, but the array is truly delectable! (Some of the member-artists take their creativity into the kitchen)…

Members have the opportunity to show their work at Art on Park, teach classes to the public, become a Featured Artist and so much more.  The space already has three pottery wheels and a large kiln.  The generosity of this group will extend to the residents of Lake Park as well.  Art on Park will offer one free, two-hour class to residents once a month.

The Artists of Palm Beach County is eager to welcome more artists to be involved, grow their membership and begin taking advantage of their new space.  If an artist is interested in using the space to teach, use the pottery wheels or the kiln please contact Joe Friedman, President at : 561.252.4894 or go to http://www.artistsofpalmbeachcounty.org
