What does C4 stand for?

The four Cs of the 21st Century Learning Model which are the most important skills required for 21st century education:

Critical thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity.

C4 at CCE allows for our students to Explore, Connect and Create.

 

 

 

Explore: 3rd – 5th grade students will participate in weekly 90-minute classes (5:45-7:15 PM) throughout the 10-month school year.

Connect: 6th – 8th grade students will participate in weekly 90-minute classes (6:30-8:00 PM) throughout the 10-month school year.

Create: 9th – 12th grade students will participate in weekly 90-minute classes (6:30-8:00 PM) throughout the 10-month school year.

 

 

 

Students can begin their experience participating in the C4 Series at CCE in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade in C4 Explore, a 3-year multimedia storytelling program. In C4 Explore, students gain hands-on experience with a variety of art forms and learn about their expressive power to tell stories and communicate ideas in different ways. They learn the various strengths and challenges inherent in each art form to carry meaning and how they become even more impactful when combined. In C4 Explore, students will experience Theatre, Visual Arts, Sound Design, and Media Arts connected through the theme of storytelling. Students begin with Theatre during which they learn how to express themselves and interpret meaning through movement, body language and dialogue. Students create original stories and take them through the other art units to develop further. In Visual Arts, they refine key details of the characters and scenes of their stories using drawing, painting and sculpture. In Sound Design, students learn sound recording and editing software on iPads to create the soundtracks of their stories including narration, dialogue, sound effects and musical underscoring. In Media Arts, students learn video and image editing software to combine their stories, visual artwork and soundtracks into complete video projects.

The C4 Connect and Create Media Arts program supports the academic success, social-emotional health and creative development of students by providing year-round project-based learning and work-study opportunities. C4 offers teens a transformative opportunity to master and apply skills in the areas of digital media production: digital cinema, graphic arts, and coding. The project-based curriculum teaches students to create persuasive, informative content and effectively communicate their stories and concepts through video projects (documentaries, PSAs, movies, etc.), digital animation, promotional campaigns, web design, and app development. Students receive expert instruction and guidance from industry professionals where they learn how to produce video projects, create animation, build promotional campaigns and design websites using industry-standard software and equipment in a facility mirroring professional creative spaces. These include a newly constructed and equipped 20-station iMac lab, recording studio and flexible theater space with 9’x16’ LED screen.

!VA! , A Communal Exhibition Of Altars Celebrate Day Of Dead At Armory Annex

The Day of the Dead is a holiday in Latino culture that focuses on gatherings of family and friends to create altars or ofrendas to pray for and celebrate the spiritual journey of friends and family members who have died.  The Armory Annex welcomes the public to experience the treasures and traditions of the Day of the Dead in the exhibition ¡Va!–a communal exhibition of altars created by families, artists, and organizations in Lake Worth.  The Public Opening Reception on Saturday, November 5th, is in conjunction with the Day of the Dead Festival. This is a free, family-friendly cultural event which will highlight the different cultural aspects of the Day of the Dead holiday with music, dance performances, and ethnic cuisine.  The Exhibit is available from November 5 – 25, 2016. Joe Marcou Is Featured Wellington Art Society Artist At Whole Foods Gallery

The Wellington Art Society in conjunction with Whole Foods Market Wellington features Artist, Joseph Marcou.  The public is invited to see his work currently on display and to attend a Meet The Artist Reception on Friday, November 4th. Whole Foods Market Wellington will provide delicious appetizers, wine and live music. In addition, there will be special door prizes. The Wellington Art Society requests a $5 per person donation to go toward their Scholarship Fund. His paintings will be on exhibit through December. “Wildfire” by Joseph Marcou

Joseph Marcou was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. His mother was a teacher and a talented artist, so art was always a part of his life. He began drawing and making things at an early age. His parents died young and at 16 he moved to Mexico with his uncle who was a comptroller of a U.S. Commission. One night while at a concert he sketched the pianist. He showed it to his uncle’s friend, the artist Enrique Asunsolo, who realized his talent and suggested that Joe make art his career. This was his defining moment.

Joe attended the Art School of New York State Tech, majoring in commercial art, now called graphic design. He served as Art Director at several design firms before becoming National Director over four International Paper Company package design studios. His last position was Revlon’s Director of Package Design.

He then opened Joseph Marcou Design Inc. which he ran for 33 years, specializing in package design, logo and trademark development, corporate brochures and annual reports. Some of his clients were Gorton’s of Gloucester, Johnson and Johnson, and Perillo Tours, to mention a few.

Throughout his long design career, Joe continued fine art painting for himself. When he finally retired from the corporate world , he was able to turn to the sheer enjoyment of creating art full time. He is particularly well known for his extraordinary floral paintings, capturing their essence with drama and unusual style. His paintings are in many private national and international collections. He has been represented by the Farnsworth Gallery and exhibits his work in many outdoor art fairs.  Joe says he is inspired by the resilience of nature and what its limitless imagination and whimsy creates.

The campus hosts space for 180 10’x10’ tents throughout the Armory’s sprawling campus.

 

Tents will be located outdoors in the courtyard, in the front parking lot, and in Montgomery Hall which is inside the Armory Art Center’s historic art deco building.

 

The Armory Art Center is on the south end of Howard Park within walking distance of the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, the Palm Beach Convention Center, Hilton West Palm Beach, and CityPlace—a premier shopping, dining, and entertainment destination.
Artists will have the opportunity to interact with the public through art demos and booth chats. Live music, food, and kid’s activities make the festival a perfect experience for all.
Set up is on Friday, December 2nd. Artists parking will be available.

  •  Submit three jpegs of the artwork you plan to sell along with your application.
  •  There is a $25 artist application fee until November 25, 2016
  •  $35 late deadline fee between November 26 and December 1, 2016.
  •  Booths are 10’x10’ for the premiere year special price of $125 each.
  • After acceptance into the festival, instructions for booth payment will be provided. Booth fees will be due within three weeks after acceptance until November 4th and due immediately after acceptance after November 4th.
  • Tent Requirements: Tents must be 10’x10’ and made to withstand wind and rain. The tent color must be white to remain consistent with event standards. Recommended brands are Light Done, Show Off, and Flourish.
  • There is a minimum of 50 lbs. of weight per corner required to meet quality standards.

Meet The Most Collected Glass Artist In The U.S. At Benzaiten Center For Creative Arts

Marlene Rose is one of Florida’s greatest artistic treasures. She is one of the top glass artists of our day and lives right in our midst in Clearwater, Florida. However, Ms. Rose will be visiting Lake Worth for three days of events, April 28th, 29th and 30th at the new Benzaiten Center for Creative Arts. Marlene Rose’s unique work refers to a personal system of symbols that derive their power and strength from the common core shared with our ancestors. Rose rides this ancient energy, and, through the glass, reaches out into time, linking the fragments of what she sees and her part-remembered memories of the past. These glimpses become her visions, and her visions soar into the future, frozen forever in the icy-hot stillness of the glass.

Rose uses a process based on the thousands-year-old tradition of bronze casting, adapted only recently for glass. She pours liquid molten glass into a carefully prepared sand mold, then cools it for six days or more in a specially controlled oven before cracking open the mold and seeing what she has made. This method of making the glass aligns perfectly with the imagery she sees. The rawness and the immediacy of working the sand; the thrill and danger of pouring this magical lava, thousands of degrees hot; and the patient gestation of the piece in the annealing oven. These processes all inform, and are integral in, the final finished creation.

Thursday, April 28   6 – 9PM: ‘An Intimate Dinner to Meet the Artist’ Limited to only 32 people, this sit-down dinner will be held in the beautiful Benzaiten Gallery and will include a talk of by the artist. $100pp

 

 

 

Friday, April 29 6 – 8PM: ‘Gallery Opening Reception’ featuring the work of Marlene Rose and 2-dimensional art of several local artists. Demo by the artist, live music, wine and hors d’oeuvres. Free for members and $10 for non-members

 

 

 

Saturday, April 30 Starts at 3PM: ‘Public Demonstration’ by Marlene Rose with music by DJ Mobile, wine, beer and lite snacks. Free
