Palm Beach Watercolor Society Shares New Call To Artists And Announces Virtual Workshops

 The Palm Beach Watercolor Society shares a new Call To Artists for “Oldies AND Goodies” now through January 18. (No restriction on how old your painting is! New paintings accepted!)  This is for Members, and if you haven’t become a member, this is the perfect time!  In addition, there will be a one-to-one art critique with Miles Laventhall for members.  Two upcoming workshops with internationally renown artists are open to everyone:  Lian Zhen (January 14-16) and David Daniels (February 10-12).  The Rickie Report shares all of the details and cannot wait to see the free virtual “Oldies and Goodies” exhibit when it opens January 22, 2021.

Eligibility: All PBWS members may enter up to 3 pieces of art. No size limitations. Please call Camille Rosano at 914-260-8690 with any questions.

Entry Fee: $30. (plus $1.50 Cloud Folios administrative fee)

Entry Guidelines: All entries must be made on-line via Cloud Folio at  https://www.cloudfolios.com/exhibitions/162

You must create a free Cloud Folio account and upload your images as a jpeg.  Do not show any frame or mat and the image must be correctly oriented, either vertical or horizontal. (You Tube provides various tutorials on how to photograph, crop and edit your art as an image.) Any entries uploaded onto Cloud Folio after January 18, 2021 will not be accepted.
Eligible Artwork: Watercolors, Acrylics, Collage made by an artists own artwork will be accepted. No oils, pastels, charcoal, drawings, photography, prints or giclees.  Images should be of your original art only, and not created under instruction or copied from another artists work. Only original photographs may be used for reference. Paintings that have been exhibited in prior PBWS shows are not eligible. 

THERE IS NO RESTRICTION ON HOW OLD YOUR PAINTING IS!

Juror:  We are pleased to announce that Lynn Stender will juror our show.  Lynn is an exhibiting member of the Boca Raton Museum, Gold Coast Watercolor Society, Women in the Visual Arts and resident artist of the Boca Raton Resort.
Waiver of Liability: By submitting artwork into the exhibit, you agree to abide by all rules and regulations in this prospectus of the Palm Beach Watercolor Society Juried Exhibition. PBWS reserves the right to use artwork images for publicity and promotion. PBWS is entitled to a 20% donation on the sale of all artwork during the exhibition.

Critique with Miles Laventhall

The workshop will be held on a weeknight from 7 – 9pm

The 1st twelve members to sign up will have a one-on-one session lasting 10 minutes each. Each participant will receive a critique for 1 painting. The workshop is open to non participating members to view as well. A wonderful learning experience for all!

The Palm Beach Watercolor Society (PBWS) offers two 3-day virtual workshops with watercolor artists, Lian Quan Zhen (January 14-16) and David Daniels (February 10-12).  These workshops are open to members and non-members, so  get your calendars out and register now!  In addition, art lovers can enjoy the free virtual demo with Lian Quan Zhen on Thursday, January 14 in the evening.  The Rickie Report shares the details about these events and reminds you that twice a month you can draw or paint with a model.  If you are a watermedia artist, check out this fabulous artist networking organization!

You do not have to have Zoom downloaded on your computer, phone or tablet all you have to do is click on the link on the invite letter that will be sent out the a day prior to the paint in.

Below is a general format for the paint-in which is open to change based on input from attendees:

• 3-5 two minute poses ( warm up)

• 2 five minute poses

• 2 ten minute poses

• Several 20 minutes poses to allow you time to paint. This is a new experience for us so please be patient as we figure out the process during the first session.

All vendors must be approved by the Northwood Merchant Committee. The artwork must be an originally created and produced product of the displaying vendor. Items such as Mary Kay, Avon, or diet products are NOT permitted or Buy/sell resale vendors are STRICTLY prohibited.

  • Applicants must submit a minimum of three photos of work or products they intend to exhibit.

 

  • Digital photos, as well as the online application, are accepted online only all Vendor terms and agreements are on the online application.

 

  • Applications received by Tuesday will be notified of acceptance status before Friday of the same week.

 

  • After approval you will receive an official vendor booth sign that will need to be visible at your booth each time you set up. Vendors are limited to approximately 10’ of street/sidewalk space to display their work. All vendors must provide their own means to display their products such as tables, tablecloth, chairs, and lighting. Limited area available for tents. Setup material have to be sturdy enough to withstand crowds, winds, and other weather conditions.

 

 

  • All vendor booth set up locations will be on sidewalks. The streets will not be closed off for traffic unless there is a major event planned and funding is in place to close the street.

 

 

  • All vendors are required to be registered and approved to set up in Northwood Village.

 

 

  • This event is currently FREE to approved vendors (subject to change with advance notice). However, to make our visitors happy and have them talk to their friends about our event, we require every vendor to donate a small item or gift certificate to be given away for prizes to shoppers in Northwood Village (item or gift certificate not to exceed $10.00 value). Gift certificates can have your name on it so you will have the opportunity to sell more to the lucky winner.

 

 

  • In order to attract as many visitors as we can we encourage all vendors to invite their followers and let them know that you will be set up in charming Northwood Village. A media kit for your use will be emailed to you so you can share on your websites, newsletters and social media. The more everyone shares the more business you and others may get. Research shows that word of mouth is the best form of advertisement so talk about it and spread the word!
