“Lily Pads”, Watercolor © Anita Lovitt

On Thursday evening, Oct. 20th at 7 PM, we will have the pleasure of having Board Member Anita Lovitt demonstrate a technique she is exploring with masking fluid. Anita has been teaching classes in watercolor at the Armory Art Center. She also instructs small painting groups in private homes.

Ms. Lovitt worked in New York City for many years as an illustrator before deciding to concentrate on painting. A highlight of that period was working at the New York Shakespeare Festival, which sparked an interest in set design. That knowledge came in handy when she created the huge “Dancing Pineapples” Art in Public Places mural in downtown Delray Beach.

Demos will be given by the listed artists, often those who have given a workshop. See some of their work below!

Jewish Museum of Florida

The Jewish Museum’s Core Exhibit “MOSAIC: Jewish Life in Florida,” opened in the fall of 1996, and while it’s continuously updated, the main features of the exhibit include: a Time Line Wall of Jewish history, a film about the history of Jews in Florida and a Research Center that grows daily. According to its website, it is the “only museum dedicated to telling the story of 250 years of Florida Jewish life, history, arts and culture as well as the generic immigration experience of everyone’s family.”

In order to provide a more personalized experience, the tour will be split into two smaller groups. While one group is inside exploring the museum with a docent, the other group will be outside taking a narrated walking tour with a guide. Both groups will then meet for lunch at the museum, then the morning inside group will tour outside and the morning outside group will explore the museum.  The cost for this trip includes lunch, admission to the museum and tours.

For more information on the Mandel JCC or this day tour visit our website at Feel free to contact us at 561-712-5232.

Each year, there is a “limited edition” tree,  that has a special themed tree ornament. We only make 100 ornaments and each ornament has a number (from 1 to 100). Some people buy their favorite number each year for their tree as a tradition. Customers wait in line the first day of the show to make sure they get their numbers.
