About Jose Delbo (from JoseDelbo.com) :

“Remember the 60’s when the Beatles saved Pepperland from the Blue Meanies in the Yellow Submarine? Well, I was the cartoonist responsible for illustrating the Fab Four with Gold Key Comics does. I am an Argentinian born artist who published my first work at the age of only 16. I was inspired by the American cowboy westerns, moved to the States and began work on classics like Billy the Kid, Judge Colt and the Lone Ranger. Then in the 70’s, I brought a host of television shows to comic book form with titles such as the The Twilight Zone, The Brady Bunch, Hogan’s Heroes, Buck Rogers, The Monkees and the Mod Squad”.

“Back in the 80’s, long before the modern superhero dominated the big screen, I worked for the likes of DC and Marvel Comics who penciled the published adventures of Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Green Arrow, The Transformers and The Thundercats. Then in the 90’s, when the focus fell on the environment, I helped the country go green when I drew the first issues of Captain Planet and the Planeteers and Brute Force. I continued to be the go-to-guy for cartoon classics like Disney’s 101 Dalmatians, Little Mermaid and the Mighty Ducks. When the NFL needed a superhero, I drew the NFL Superior who ran around with Spiderman fighting crime in the big city”.

Debbie Lee Mostel, BFA California College of the Arts and Pratt Institute in New York, was trained by master goldsmith, Ellen Broker, and master silversmith, Hans Christensen, of Copenhagen, Denmark. Early in her career, after a stint with Tiffany’s, Mostel formed her own company. Her work in the wholesale jewelry business brought her acclaim when her designs were carried by Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Macy’s, Henri Bendel and Saks Fifth Ave.  Debbie’s jewelry was also seen in Richard Avedon’s fashion photographs.

Mostel’s work has been compared with illustrious designer Robert Lee Morris who came up during the same era as Mostel. Both designers have been influenced by the forms they find in nature and their interest in sculpting. Both love the feel and look of silver and perhaps one difference may be in the stunning simplicity of Mostel’s designs.

“Joyful Universe” by Debbie Mostel

“Joyful Universe” will be on display at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County from Dec 16th–Feb 10th.  Debbie tells The Rickie Report, ” Upon creating this piece what occurs to me most profoundly is the beautiful planet we live on. Even with its changing political boundaries, ecological uncertainty, and polluted waterways our planet is a miracle in our Universe. I am A Science based thinker/Designer/artist who sees the blessings and wonders in every drop of water and behind every blade of grass. I don’t mean to get too sappy, but I do feel passionately connected to our Earth. Sadly, too many humans today are just out of touch with their home.”
