Rebecca Ryan was born in Canada and now shares her time between Delray Beach and Canada. Her enthusiasm for nature comes through every piece of artwork she creates. She tells The Rickie Report, “I find so much inspiration to create during my time here in Southern Florida. Many of my photos of birds and flowers as well as the “Life Series”, “Rain” and “Beach Leaf Series” are all a celebration of the time I spend here.”

“Calla Lily” by Rebecca Ryan

“I have always loved and appreciated art. I spent many pleasurable days in the galleries of London, Paris, Milan and Florence while in my twenties. That really started my self study of art and art history.” With an artistic mother and a sister who is a patron of the arts, Rebecca has wonderful family support for her journey. After several years of illness, Rebecca had to slow down physically. Gardening became her process to create.

“Heaven and Earth” by Rebecca Ryan

Rebecca explains, “When I started to watch my gardens bloom and grow on a daily basis, it was magnificent! I wanted to share what I was privileged to see. I thought a camera was the best way to capture those moments. Once I looked through a macro lens, I found my passion!”

“Inside The Forbidden Fruit” by Rebecca Ryan

“The pallet of colors in nature is incredible. I celebrate them and create an abstract piece that will help the viewer to linger and enjoy what they would not otherwise see.” Rebecca is continuing her artist journey by developing new mixed media artworks, combining acrylic and photography. “I am honored and excited to be included for the second time at Studio 1608 in West Palm Beach.”

“Dance of the Fairy” by Rebecca Ryan

Rebecca shares her artist vision, “I hope to share a moment in nature with all its splendor with the viewer. I call my abstracts “The metamorphosis of nature’s palette”. Rebecca is a internationally collected artist. Her work is in private collections in Vancouver and Alberta Canada as well as in Mexico. She is making her foray into the US market with collectors in California and Florida, building on her previous Exhibitions in Vancouver, Canada and Florida. Her photographs are available in a wide range of sizes and mediums.

For painters, photographers and sculptors STUDIO 1608 is home to a collection of working artist studios from a variety of disciplines. An exciting space filled with history and architectural details, 1608 is an unexpected treasure in today’s commercial cookie cutter buildings. Conveniently located between the Norton Art Museum and Antique Row, STUDIO 1608 is a New York loft style building with over 7500 square feet of studio space. Built in 1937, surviving over one hundred hurricanes this two-story gem is brimming with character rarely found in a Florida building. With thirteen foot ceilings, seven foot sunlit-providing windows, exposed wooden beams and beautifully finished wooden floors that still show hints of a 1930’s car dealership, STUDIO 1608 is a haven for artists.

Barbra Ellison tells The Rickie Report, “In 2013, I traveled to France with my sister to honor my husband Michael, by visiting some of the areas that he lived as a child. During the journey, I documented churches, abbeys and neighborhoods of northern France, enjoying the time with my sister, as well as observing the culture and beauty of the countryside”.

The selection of images from France cover three specific areas – Paris, and the regions of Burgundy and Loire, “Three Faces of France”. These images were processed and presented in three different ways, through a variety of mediums. The first series consists of scenes enhanced by the choice of Japanese paper, printed to create a softness through the torn edges and fibers that run through the scene. Traveling to the second group, the images were printed in black and white on French watercolor paper, and then hand colored with pastels to create the feeling of years gone by, reminders of the turn of the century chalk paintings. The final group consists of images that were printed on hand painted backgrounds of gold. All three groups of images were hand torn and floated on matching backdrops to maintain the simplicity of the images.
