A Modern Look for an Old-World Medium

Stained glass has long been a fascination and often used medium to decorate famous European cathedrals, churches world-wide, and other houses of worship.  Certainly, Tiffany’s designs for lamps brought a new look to this old-world medium.  The Rickie Report spoke with a local resident, Lynn Inlow, who is working with stained glass and using it in new ways.  Lynn sells her beautiful creations at Local Treasures in Tequesta and donates half of her sales to a deserving charity.  Read more in this post.

Local Treasures is an art gallery and shop filled with the unique and creative works of a variety of local artists.  Kathy Barry has met many wonderful and talented artists and artisans serving Palm Beach and Martin Counties – Jupiter, Tequesta, Hobe Sound, Stuart, Palm Beach Gardens, North Palm Beach and West Palm Beach and brings their work to you.

At Local Treasures you will find unique pottery, copper art, glass art, jewelry and more. One of the artists Kathy Barry has brought to our attention is Lynn Inlow.  She designs beautiful stained glass pieces of art work that can become family keepsakes.

Lynn tells The Rickie Report that she get started making stained glass in 1997 her youngest son went to college and she experienced  “empty nest” syndrome.  “I was looking for a new artistic endeavor.

I took a few classes and stained glass became my new passion.  I moved to Hobe Sound, Florida almost two years ago and I brought my stained glass with me”.

Her price point is so reasonable and Lynn is happy to make a custom piece for someone’s window, make a one-of-a-kind gift for a new baby, an heirloom piece of art for a wedding, party favors, or hanging ornaments.

She tells us, “I love to design and create custom stained glass pieces. The Rampant Lion is from the Scottish flag designed as a 4 foot medallion.

The poinsettia window was about 3 feet square, designed to fit and coordinate with the colors of the room and curtains.  If you imagine it and I’ll create it!”

Lynn uses the traditional Tiffany, copper foil method in constructing the windows.  Her whimsical nature emerges as she makes wonderful pyramids filled with small charms and specialty items.  What a great gift for ANY reason – and a terrific tree ornament!
Lynn and her husband founded a school in 2001 while doing missionary work.  Fifty percent of her profits are donated to The Lion of Judah Academy in Bulima, Tanzania. The school targets poor children and orphans. They started with 10 children and today serve 600+.
