Artists were invited to submit all genres, subjects, capture types and photographic processes both historic and modern for this juried photography exhibition. All types of photography mediums including iPhone, Cellphone, Polaroid, and digital prints on any medium were included. Photographs provide many things; proof that something happened, the ability to capture a moment or memories, or as a means of communication. Artists were asked to submit work that was innovative, interesting, artistic or awe-inspiring, and their response has resulted in a powerful show.

Edward H. Munoz, the gallery’s own resident art photographer, is the Judge for this exhibition. As a manufacturing executive, Ed traveled the world and visited stunning locales, met interesting people and saw amazing wonders, all the while amassing a considerable portfolio of photos as part hobby and part stress reliever. After retiring in 2002, editing, matting and framing some of these photos became his retirement project. Over the last 10 years he has endeavored to expand his photography skills under the guidance of such pros as Ken Geiger, a Pulitzer prize winner and National Geographic photographer; E. David Luria of Washington DC photo safari fame, and David Durbak, a well-known architectural photographer here in Florida. Since then he has won numerous awards most recently in the Grassy Waters Photo Contest.
Ed will be presenting First Place, Second Place, and Honorable Mention awards at the Opening Reception on September 13, 2019, 5 – 8 PM. Mark your calendar and make sure to be there.

And talking about photography, don’t miss the Artists of Palm Beach County Art Salon on Monday, September 16, 2019. Dennis Leon, one of the “Through the Camera’s Eye” exhibitors will present how to photograph your work when submitting for exhibits. Most of us have been rejected at one time or another with our submissions for exhibitions. Often it isn’t the actual artwork that is rejected but the way it’s presented. The jpgs you send are important, and Dennis will help you make your artwork look its best.

Mark your calendars for other events at the gallery. The third Monday of each month at 6:30 PM the public is invited to an Art Salon. Doug Marlowe Helps Harness The Power Of Technology For Individuals And Businesses, With A Specialty Niche For Artists. “teachITnow” Alleviates Frustration And Confusion

Doug Marlowe describes himself as “a curious sort”. His passion with art began at age 10, with the first roll of film he developed. That led him to the Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in Photo Science and Engineering. He pioneered many of the processes used to go from the camera to the computer and from the computer to the printing press. Doug moved to telecommunications and was a “midwife” at the birth of the public Internet. Doug’s communication skills led him to decades of engineering project management and workplace education. Who has not dealt with some type of  technology issue?  Through teachITnow,Inc., Doug can help individuals, groups, and businesses corral their technology dysfunction and move forward with a sense of confidence toward success.

Could   you   benefit   from   Technotherapy?

With the rapid development of the Internet, computers, digital cameras, and cell phones, Doug was driven to educate those who are confused and frustrated with these technologies; especially artists, whose existence revolves around communications.

I don’t know if anyone else – no matter how creative she might ”think” she is – doesn’t arrive at the Wall of Exasperation! “What am I missing? I need a new set of eyes!” That’s how I felt when I called Doug to walk me through some various social media platforms for my very busy real estate career. Two days later, I took all my questions, my media campaigns, branding questions and sat with my ever patient brain trust named Doug Marlowe. Whether its formatting local or global campaigns or analyzing where the “new frontier” of promotion might be, I thank Doug for opening some areas to explore.

Doug helps to “Do it better, Do it faster, and Deliver results.”

Doug’s company, teachITnow, Inc. has been helping the “bewildered and confused” harness the power of their technology since 2008.

Doug Marlowe has been my IT guy for ten years. His creative and patient teaching style has enabled me to feel confident in my ability to control the technologies I need to create my art. I trust Doug implicitly with many aspects of my gallery’s operations, social media, and marketing. I recommend Doug highly.

I was in desperate need of revising my web site in time for my SOLO show and knew it needed professional help. My anxieties were dashed within days and my web site looks great at a reasonable cost.  I will continue to call on Doug for help with marketing on social media.  He was a pleasure to work with.  I highly recommend Doug!

John R. Math Discusses “Online Art Galleries” As a Marketing Tool And Provides Artists Exposure To A World Wide Audience

The Rickie Report invited John R. Math of Light Space & Time Online Gallery to share information about different types of online art galleries.  John is a Florida landscape and wetlands fine art photographer as well as a well respected business person in the art world. Since 2006, his Gallery has conducted monthly themed art competitions and art exhibitions for new and emerging artists on a worldwide basis. The gallery was created primarily to help new and emerging artists gain experience in applying for, participating in art competitions and getting solid exposure to the decision makers in the art world. Through Light Space & Time, artists are able to not only gain experience but also add and develop their art resumes, all in the hopes of someday selling their work and having a successful art career. The Rickie Report shares the details here.

John R. Math

How Online Art Galleries Can Help You Market Your Artwork

By John R. Math

In the last 5 years online art galleries have become a popular means for artists to market and sell their art. If an artist is not taking advantage of this platform they are at a very distinct disadvantage in terms of marketing and selling their art. There are several types of online galleries and using them has numerous benefits for the artist.

Print on Demand Online Art Galleries:

These type of galleries provide a profile page followed by gallery pages for the artist’s artworks. (They may or may not charge an administrative fee). The gallery acts as a “go between” for the buyer and the artist. They print and ship the artist’s work for the purchaser, which is how the gallery makes their money.

Online Art Galleries that Market and Sell Art:

This type of gallery sells the artist’s art and collects a percentage of each sale (much like a brick and mortar gallery when they sell an artist’s artwork). They usually provide the artist with a profile, a storefront and the means to charge and collect from the buyer.
Hopefully, these online art galleries do a lot of marketing and promotion to bring traffic to their website in order to help sell the artist’s art.

Online Art Competition Galleries:

For an artist’s work to appear on these sites, the artist will go through a judging or a competition process. The selection of the art is the result of a themed art competition. Online art galleries (in any form) provide artists with very low costs and wide-ranging exhibition opportunities that were not available in the past.  “Brick and Mortar” art galleries have built-in overhead and expenses that make them less able to compete with online art galleries regarding artist entry fees and exhibition costs.

Online galleries offer ease of submitting and managing electronic files versus physically shipping entire works. Using online galleries is both a time-saving and cost-effective alternative for the artist. Matting and framing, shipping, and storing are no longer issues.
The Internet offers broad international exposure to artists who compete, win, and exhibit their artwork. This exposure can be tapped into by both “brick and mortar” and online galleries. It is critical for any gallery that an artist partners with, is to make full use of available marketing and promotional opportunities.

What are the advantages and benefits for an artist to enter and compete in an online art competition? The following are the top benefits for an artist when entering online art contests:

• Ease of Entering/Posting Art
• Cost of Entering/ Membership
• Online Promotion & Marketing
• Low Administrative Costs
• Unequalled Exposure for the Artist

Choosing the Right Online Gallery:

When selecting an online art gallery, be sure to ask about their overall marketing program. Online galleries tend to have digital marketing expertise as their entire world is electronic, but not all galleries are the same.

As an artist, you want broad and quality coverage for your work.

What is your desired market?

While the whole world is available to you, partnering with an online art gallery that caters to those who like your art is essential.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery conducts monthly themed online art competitions and art exhibitions for new and emerging artists on a worldwide basis. It is the Gallery’s intention to help today’s artists to successfully market their art to a worldwide audience.
