Boca Raton Museum Art School Announces October Events, Group Exhibits, SOLO Exhibit, And New Classes For All Levels And Ages

The Boca Raton Museum Art School is busy with on-site exhibitions and events!  The short Term 1B (4 weeks) starts on Oct. 1st and Term 2 starts on October 29th.  Everyone is invited to the 5th Annual Boca Photo Exhibit on Sunday, October 7th. Join Allan Pierce, instructor/professional photographer, for a day of informal discussions and workshops on photography led by advanced students of the Art School.   The first Student’s Exhibition Opening Reception takes place on Tuesday, October 16th.  Celebrate the first term student’s artwork at the Art School main gallery. In the Focus Gallery, you can view a Solo exhibit by Iryna Oliinyk, a dedicated student of Painting classes with instructors Scherer and Ouporov.  All of the art will be on view until November 7th.   We also announce some new Teen Classes!  The Rickie Report brings you all the details and some sneak peeks!

Exploring Acrylics with Instructor Vicki Siegel:

The class focuses on various foundation skills for painting in a creative atmosphere. Learn how to get started, setup a palette and mix color, brushwork, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, glazing, layering, texture, and how to use gels and mediums. The class will work from both a set up and instructor photographs until you develop your own ideas as your painting skills improve.

Watercolor with Instructor Ted Matz:

Explore the pleasures and challenges of watercolor. Learn a variety of techniques, including wet-on-wet and dry brush, as you learn to paint primarily from still-life setups. Demonstration of techniques and discussion of the principles of color mixing and composition are an essential part of this course.

Bead Embroidered Jewelry with Instructor Fin McNiel:

Create beautiful wearable art jewelry by using bead embroidery techniques. Suitable for beginning and intermediate students. $20 material fee paid to the instructor on the first day of class.

Throwing on Potter’s Wheel – Beginners

Learn the basics with an emphasis on centering, trimming, additions, and glazing using the wheel. Create Mugs, bowls, plates and more.

Pet Portrait Painting with Instructor Renee Plevy

Working from your own photographs or iPad images, learn drawing and color mixing skills to obtain accurate proportions using oil paint. Animal anatomy, paint handling, and the use of light will be discussed. Clear instruction is given through demonstrations and one on-one guidance. Students learn the advantages of painting with oils to create lifelike portraits of their pets.

Armory Art Center Presents Image d’Or Prize-Winning Filmmaker & Lecture Plus Two Gallery Exhibits By Students

The Armory Art Center is bringing internationally acclaimed artist, Faten Safieddine to present her short film, “La Chrysalide”, and give a lecture.  She is an internationally acclaimed filmmaker, having won the  Image d’Or Prize.  In addition, the public is invited to view the culmination of Armory Art Students’ work in printmaking, digital, and related arts plus drawing and painting workshops and classes.  Offering something for all ages, there are still spaces available at Summer Art Camp! Internationally renown artist Faten Safieddine will show her short film “La Chrysalide” and talk about her work. This lecture is free and open to the public. In a dreamlike style, this film shows the struggle of women to extricate themselves from the yoke of the cultural and social conditioning and achieve freedom and fullness.





Born in Lebanon, Ms. Safieddine lives and works in Marrakesh and Paris. She was educated at the Sorbonne and the Université d’Abidjan and has shown her work throughout the Middle East, France and Canada.


Her photographic work explores the themes of the shadows, reflections and transparencies and has been the subject of several international exhibitions.  In addition to working as a photographer and film maker, Ms Safieddine is a journalist, art critic and writer focusing on culture and history. In 1988 the Metropolitan Museum of Art commissioned her to create a documentary on the restoration of the Minbar in the Grand Mosque of Koutoubia. The documentary received the Image d’Or prize in France.

Summer Art Camp

June 8th – August 14th
Ages 4½-7, 8-10, 11-13, and 14-17




Summer Art Camp at the Armory Art Center is filled with fun, creativity, character development, and self-esteem initiatives. The arts have the power to do all that and more! Our innovative theme weeks will include drawing, painting, sculpture, jewelry, fiber arts, ceramics, and printmaking as a major focus enhanced with music, dance, games, and team building.



Our camp leaders are skilled in working with youth in the arts. They take a special joy in supporting the imagination of our youth and know how to work with a variety of skill and dexterity levels. We look forward to partnering with you, the parent, to provide a safe, enriching, fun summer for your child.

The mission of the Armory Art Center is to inspire the creation and experience of art. The Armory’s vision is to be Palm Beach County’s leading visual arts education and exhibition center.
