Martin Arts Presents A Noteworthy Exhibit “Floridian Flavors: Character, Culture, & Cuisine” Featuring Artistry By The Studio Art Quilt Associates January 11- February 26
“Floridian Flavors: Characters, Culture, & Cuisine” is a noteworthy exhibit of juried art quilts that celebrate the rich and varied cultures, clothing, food, holidays, languages, history, and customs of residents, visitors and native-born Floridians. Martin Arts brings members of the Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA), Florida Region to share their creativity at the Court House Cultural Center from January 11 – February 26, 2022. (SAQA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the art quilt. CDC guidelines will be followed. A private tour can be arranged on Monday, January 10 for those who prefer to be in a small group. The exhibit will be available in the Virtual Gallery beginning Tuesday, January 11. Take your time to notice all of the elements of these art quilts in “Floridian Flavors: Characters, Culture, & Cuisine”!!!! This unique exhibit will hang in the Court House Cultural Center from January 11 – February 26, 2022. This exhibit was juried by Martha Wolfe.
Members of the Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA), Florida Region, have created this collection of juried art quilts that celebrate the rich and varied cultures, clothing, food, holidays, languages, history, and customs of residents, visitors and native-born Floridians. The Sunshine State is one of diversity and inclusion, attracting people from all over the globe and these magnificent fabric masterpieces will reflect their uniqueness and lifestyles.

Over the past 30 years, SAQA has grown into a dynamic and active community of nearly 4,000 artists, curators, collectors, and art professionals located around the world whose vision is that the art quilt is universally respected as a fine art medium. Three of the 30 artists participating are from the local area: Kim Laffont, Fort Pierce; Sharon Buck, Okeechobee; and Susan Rienzo, Vero Beach

A spokesperson for SAQA shared, “We are proud our state is one of diversity and inclusion. People in Florida come from all over the globe and all walks of life. We have astronauts, mermaids, cowboys, pirates, princesses, and pioneers. (And Parrotheads!) This collection of juried art quilts made by Florida SAQA members will celebrate the rich and varied cultures, clothing, food, holidays, languages, history, and customs of our inhabitants, visitors, and even the rare individuals who are Florida-born and lifelong residents”. There are 8 “pods” (or chapters) in Florida.
