Art   Exhibits:

“Crashing Rocks” by Chris Kling
On our front featured wall, Chris has a large painting called “Crashing Rocks”. It gives you the real feeling of the power of the ocean. Also, on the front wall is a new portraiture of “Carter” and his fascination with the ocean. Chris is one of the featured artists in the New Smyrna Beach Paint Out next week.

Presently we are featuring new work by Chris Kling that covers plain air paintings from old Stuart before the renovations downtown this summer. Over the past six months we have had three guest artists, Manon Sanders a renowned plein air artist from Jupiter Fl, Mimi McCullum a renowned artist from here in Stuart and Katie Gianni a new emerging artist also from Stuart.

"Curly Haired Woman" by Kokó Brandão

“Curly Haired Woman” by Kokó Brandão

Kokó Brandão’s figurative forms magically capture the beauty of female portraiture – while creating art that is completely modern and original. Kokó is inspired by the graceful elegance of the female form. At times classically alluring, demure and provocative, her art has a pervasive sense of sophistication. Her signature use of expressive color as well as the dynamic application of paint on the canvas combines to create her uniquely recognizable style. The giveaway prize, a 40”x16” original acrylic painting on canvas titled “Gold” and valued at $850, will be on display in her booth where registration will also take place. No purchase is necessary to participate and the winner will be announced during the final hour of the art show. To learn more about this talented artist and explore her work go to  www.kokobrandao.com.

Viewers report, “Looking at Kokó Brandão’s work, you always get a feeling of the artist’s soul – tension behind the painting … interaction of strong tones and the bright color impact … abstract elements and the sensual dynamics”.

Beasties of the Kingdom are a Must See at 17th Annual Downtown Delray Beach Craft Festival

The 17th Annual Delray Beach Craft Festival goers will have a lot of artists to see.  John Raya’s creations, “Beasties of the Kingdom” promise to amuse and please all ages.  Previously sharing his creative genius at Disneyland and Universal Studios, John eventually struck out on his own.  Choosing a “Beastie” is probably the most difficult decision you’ll have to make!  Everything is handmade in the USA ( including the paint as well as boxes).  The Rickie Report shares the details of the full event and a glimpse of some “Beasties”.

Meet John Raya

and

his Beasties of the Kingdom

Throughout his life, John Raya’s two passions have been sculpting and cartooning. As a child, John spent long hours mastering the great works … from the “Sunday funnies”, his favorite comic books, or the all-time classic “Mad Magazine.” Any piece of paper was a potential sketch pad for John to practice drawing his childhood heroes and heroines. He shares, ” I mastered anatomy and life drawing skills by the age of ten through long hours laboring over the finer points of proportion and structure … by sketching the likes of “Wonder Woman” .”

John’s talents soon found their way to Universal Studios in California where he worked summers as a cartoonist between stints at Cal State at Fullerton where he studied the “3D’s”–dating, dancing, and design. With a knack for quick-sketch caricature, John’s art drew him to Disneyland where he would sometimes sketch up to 400 people in a single day. John eventually found his way to Walt Disney World® in Florida, where as an art director, he was responsible for artists operations in the theme park.

"ZsaZsaZebra" by John Raya

“ZsaZsaZebra” by John Raya

In 1975, mustering his entrepreneurial spirit and with his accumulated professional experience (and a prayer), John embarked on his own business venture. Developing the “Beasties of the Kingdom” collection along the way, John fulfilled a lifelong dream and created a vehicle for his personal style and sense of humor. Starting with just six designs in his collection, John soon directed his talents to creating new and better “Beasties” to keep up with the ever-growing demand. Since then, John has increased his collection to include over sixty new “Beasties of the Kingdom” that has attracted a global family of collectors.

Suzanne says, “There comes a time when we want to wear something unique, something cut from a different cloth. That is when we look to the artist, a creative soul who can stitch and knot and sew or bead a wondrous wearable, and in donning his or her masterpiece, we become a walking work of art ourselves”.
