A native-born Floridian from Miami, Barbie grew up in Key Biscayne on the Matheson Estate, the historic Douglas Entrance and Coral Gables.  Barbie received her Master’s Degree in Education and certification in Gifted Education from Florida International University (FIU).   After college, Barbie pursued a teaching career.  This enabled her to travel during the summers to many exotic places and to share her photographs with students acquainting them with fascinating world cultures and teaching tolerance for other ways of life. She dreamed of joining the ranks of National Geographic, since their work had inspired a penchant for photography and life journaling.

Today, having recently retired from a 35-year teaching career, Barbie is now pursuing her other passion, photo art creating a fresh perspective. She enjoys a different way of looking at the everyday, the beauty and designs of nature, wildlife, oceans, doors, other cultures…capturing life’s art and nature’s beauty on the canvas that awaits us.  Cards, small matted prints, large matted prints, framed photo art and more are available for purchase at the Lauderdale by the Sea show or

“Art has been the one constant in my life. It is a means of expression and a way for me to share my passion with others. I am very blessed to have this gift and I am grateful to those that have already made my work a part of their lives. I have always believed art to be a way to share joy and bring happiness to those around you. There is something about looking at a painting that speaks to you that is unparalleled”.

“My art teacher in the 9th grade was the first to put a paintbrush in my hand. A graduate of the University of Miami with a BFA and a minor in art history, I draw inspiration from the impressionists, and the flatter styles of the post-impressionists such as Gauguin and Cezanne. I combine these two distinct styles into one, creating a dynamic piece that borders on the brink of 2-D and 3-D art. I mainly work with oil paints but have created art pieces in various mediums.  My newest endeavor is painting murals for nurseries. Have your child wake up each morning to their favorite fairy princesses, animals, or any other scene you can imagine”.

ARTNADO Brings Nationally Renown Fine Artists And Crafters To Premier Show

ARTNADO is coming to West Palm Beach!  Jack Busa is bringing a new-concept juried art show to our area. “Artnado” takes place at the South Florida Fairgrounds, featuring 2D and 3D creations on November 14th and 15th, 2015. This indoor show has a lot to offer to art patrons. Using high-technology, patrons will be able to see participating artists’ work in situ as well as in their exhibition areas. Artists will be demonstrating their techniques to further educate the art loving public. The Rickie Report applauds this trend, believing that better informed art lovers become more enthusiastic art patrons. The Student Art Contest participants will also be celebrated! We want to point out that there is no connection between the presenting organization, Artistic Synergy and Art Synergy (ARTWEEK at Art Palm Beach). Here are the details and some sneak peeks!

Jack Busa, of Artistic Synergy sent out a Call to Artists for a unique juried exhibition taking place at the South Florida Fairgrounds. The number of nationally recognized artists who applied is exceptional. Artnado will feature 2D and 3D art, photography, jewelry or whatever combination the creative mind conjures. Jack explains, “‘Synergy’ is supplied with the incorporation and interaction of models, an embellishment room and ambient music”.

Jack tells The Rickie Report, ‘We created ARTNADO realizing that no one can know or predict the complete buying habits of the attendees. Our juried process took into consideration the artists’ work from talent, inspiration and creativity…we did not to classify something as “not art” because it does not fit what “we” expect… Artists need to promote themselves or they will have a limited career. Our goal is to show the artists’ creativity in the most favorable way…and demonstrate their work to appeal to all potential buyers.”
