Louis’ extensive career, working out of his New York City studio, includes advertising, travel and editorial work for many notable clients such as Nikon, RCA Records and Popular Mechanics. His work has appeared in numerous magazines and publications. He produces stock photography for international companies, which means his photos can be purchased from a database and used to fulfill the needs of creative assignments. His personal work has been exhibited in many New York galleries and advertising agencies, as well as several one-man shows in various venues.
Lou’s iconic photograph, “Boat Launch”, inspired watercolorist, Chuck Van Horn to create an award-winning painting. Chuck asked Lou for permission to create an original water color from this photo. Chuck’s watercolor won 1st place at the Salamagundi Club exhibit and the painting immediately sold! Lou says,” I am honored that one of my photographs animated someone with such emotion!”

Port St. Lucie Civic Center
The Civic Center invites artists and photographers to submit their work for exhibition. Featured artists have the opportunity to sell their original creations and reproductions. In addition, a reception, free and open to the public and complete with cash bar, light fare and live music, is held in honor of each featured artist on the opening night of their exhibit. This offers patrons the opportunity to meet in person the creative individuals whose works of art are on display.
Civic Center Recreation Manager Kelly Tiger and the Public Art Advisory Board select each artist and the artwork that will be displayed for each exhibit. City of Port St. Lucie team members install the exhibit, carefully designing the look and feel of the space using the wide variety of display pieces available.
Those artists interested in showcasing their work in the Civic Center’s Art Gallery can complete an application available on the city’s website at www.cityofpsl.com. Artists are asked to provide a biography, artist statement and at least ten examples of their current work. There is no cost for the artist to apply and if selected, the exhibit and reception are also free of charge. Once the City of Port St. Lucie has juried all works, the artists may be contacted to extend a contract to exhibit in the Art Gallery. Applications are accepted throughout the year. For more information about the Civic Center Art Gallery, contact Civic Center Recreation Manager Kelly Tiger at (772) 807-4499 or email her at ktiger@cityofpsl.com.
