The Boca Raton Museum Art School has initiated a partnership with Liberty Equities which owns and operates International Plaza building in Boca Raton. The first exhibit features 50 artworks by 18 advanced art students. International Plaza

“This project gives the students an opportunity to display their artwork in a corporate environment to an audience that may not be familiar with the talent of the local artists,” says Water O’Neill, Director of the Art School.

George Brock, President of Liberty Equities says “Partnering with the Museum and School is a fantastic way to get involved with the community, brighten our surroundings, and encourage local artists by displaying their artwork.”

International Plaza is a Class A office building located at 7280 and 7284 West Palmetto Park Road and tenants include medical offices as well as legal, financial, and real estate services. While many office buildings display artwork, few take the extra effort to support the local community art school and local artists. International Plaza stands out for partnering with a non-profit to highlight culture and community in its environs.

Joanne Slattery’s “Ocean Waves” Take the Viewer Into The Surf At Town Hall Of South Palm Beach Gallery

Joanne Slattery‘s paintings of waves take the viewer right to the edge of the shore, mesmerized by the colors and movement.  The public is invited to a SOLO Exhibition, “Ocean Waves” on Sunday, March 11 at the Town Hall of South Palm Beach.  Using pastel, acrylic, and oil, you will see why the ocean brings us back again and again.  The Rickie Report shares the details and some sneak peeks.

“Sea Pools” by Joanne Slattery

Joanne Slattery tells The Rickie Report, “I am self-taught, inspired by places in the world that have grasped my attention. Challenging subjects and how to accomplish their atmosphere and movement intrigue me. In the last few years, I have studied the Ocean, and attempted to capture it’s mood and feeling by getting in the water and returning home to paint. I am looking for the viewer to feel the movement as if they were in it’s ever-changing waves”.

“Long Wave” by Joanne Slattery

You experience Joanne’s pieces: you have a dialogue with them as you wander into them. They leave you feeling, wondering, wanting to be there, and wanting to know more. She says,  “I always need to revisit my favorite places and try to re-experience them; I am searching and deeply involved in how to express what that place feels like. There is a feeling of always having more to do”.

“Changing Seas” by Joanne Slattery

Joanne explains, “Some subjects just cry pastel for its intensity and blending capabilities, while others call for a faster method as with acrylic. When I paint Oceans in oil, I paint more than 5 layers and allow drying time between the layers. All demand constant choices of brush and stroke direction to accomplish their particular action and atmosphere. With each piece I am always learning how to see and how to execute.  The excitement is seeing what happens. The visual in my mind does not always become what the canvas says to do. Risks and Courage”.

“Electric Bamboo” by Michael Raiman

Michael Raiman has lived in Palm Beach County for 62 years inspiring him to capture the beauty of South Florida’s natural landscapes. Starting with a 35mm camera loaned to him by his father, Michael learned the art of photography and composition through workshops, seminars, and from other photographers. It was studying under Jack Wild of the Delray Beach Center for the Arts that pulled him out of his comfort zone and into new environments. Michael entered his first photography competition at Arthur R Marshall Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge taking home the blue ribbon in one category and the Honorable Mention in another.

“Delicate Arch, Utah” by Michael Raiman

Since then, Michael, has won many awards and accolades for his ability to capture whatever excites him and using his lens to make the commonplace unusual. His goal is to have the viewer see the familiar in an unfamiliar way, lines leading around an image and forcing a momentary pause. Michael says this is what photography does for him, ‘It makes me slow down and really look within an environment; forcing me to be wholly present – like a meditation.’

“Step One” by Michael Raiman Worth Avenue Series

Michael chairs the Lake Worth Art League’s Photography Group and was selected to be a leader in this year’s Scott Kelby’s Worldwide PhotoWalk. He and his wife, Lynne Ottimer, recently celebrated 30 years in their Delray Beach home with their three feline friends. They are active members in the South Florida arts community and in the Palm Beach Bromeliad Society. More about Michael and his photos and to inquire about commission work can be found at www.MichaelRaimanPhotography.com.

Maria Paz shares one of her favorite quotes with The Rickie Report, ” True art is not a gimmick, it is a creative process where what is created evokes an emotion …. if I can do that through my work, I would have done my job”.  Born in Manila, Philippines, Maria came to Boston, MA at age 8. At age 11, Maria took “Perspective Architectural Drawing” where “outdoor field work” was involved at The Boston Museum of Fine Arts every Saturday morning. At age 14, she studied Acrylic & Oil Painting during the summer months at Massachusetts College of Art(MASSART). Cable vision hired Maria to design & build their backdrop while she was still a high school student!

Handpainted furniture by Maria Paz

Wanting to be an Art Major, Maria began building her portfolio in high school & was awarded scholarships, including the Bergfors Rice Award.  With offers from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), and Parsons NY, Maria chose the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York to study Fine Arts as it had many “working artists” as professors.

Artwork by Maria Paz

Maria also lived in Paris, France for 6 months and studied Fine Art at Parsons in Paris. Her “Reclining Nude” was exhibited at a Paris gallery.  Upon returning to NY & living in Manhattan, Maria worked while studying nude figurative drawing at The Arts Student’s League.  She was often commissioned to paint portraits, which can be found in numerous private collections internationally.

Maria’s work has been seen at many exhibitions including: NUDENite in Orlando, ARTUndressed in Miami, WPB Waterfront, Fatsvillage Fort Lauderdale, Boynton Beach, Manalapan, and Evening on The Avenue in Lake Worth.
