March 18-April 6: 7th Annual PEEPS

Show This annual show is open to all artists, and brought 1600 visitors to the gallery last year. It often gets TV and Press coverage….and it’s just for fun. There is a $100 top prize, and four second place prizes given to artists by the PEEPS™ Company. (For those of you who don’t know, PEEPS are those little marshmallow candies that used to appear at Easter time, and now appear all year round.) The show is judged by local celebrities and, when he can, by Bob Born, the inventor of PEEPS. Go to http://cgmspeeps.blogspot.com/ for pictures of the last few years of entries.

April 8-April 20: “There’ll Be No More Horsing Around”

This will be our first year of a show with a “Horse” theme. We have a number of equestrian enthusiasts who have been working in our studio, visiting our gallery and asking for works that involve horses. The gallery and studio will be participating in, and contributing to a major Breast Cancer Fund-Raiser at the Wellington Polo Club just prior to this event.

April 22- May 4 “Spin a Tale of Love”

Each artist entering this show will receive two antique wooden spindles that held yarn in the old knitting mills. You must use these spindles (in any manor you wish) as part of your artist entry. “Spin a Tale of Love” could be about any lovers throughout history, real or fictional, human or otherwise. This is your chance to tell your love story. (You need not ask “how” to use the spindles. It is up to you.)

June 17-July 6 “There Auto Be A Law”

A show about cars and motorcycles and widgets and gadgets- A recent study showed that there are fewer collectors of art among the young and wealthy. Many of these collectors are turning their attention to the collection of cars and bikes. Let’s test these waters and sell them the Art of Motorcycle and Automobile Art Maintenance.

July 8- July 20: “Shoe Fetish/ Foot Fetish”

This proved to be last year’s favorite show among our patrons who purchased more works than in any other show of the year (except for The Naked Truth.) We like adding some levity to the hot summer by introducing the foot theme into our mix. We want to bring the shoe loving crowds into the gallery to purchase your works.

August 5-August 17: “The Male Form”

We are repeating this successful special request exhibition. The special request came from artists who felt slighted by the creations and shows that mostly feature the female form. They wanted equal time We welcome your interpretations.

September 9-September 21: “The Naked Truth”

We are always happy to repeat this show again and again. Although it may seem similar to “The Male Form,” we see this as a wide open topic that can be interpreted as broadly as you wish.

October 7- October 19: 3rd Annual Cat-O-Strophic Event

This wildly popular event is all about cats; cats of every shape, color and kind. We will again reach out to all of the animal rescue venues, pet shops and veterinarians as we publicize this event.

October 21-November 2: 3rd Annual “Day(s) of the Dead”

This event brought purchasing patrons into the gallery long after the exhibit was taken down. The works of gallery artists, left over from this event, continue to sell. We have a whole new mailing list of DofD patrons who are looking forward to your works.

November 4-November 16: “The ‘I’ of Picasso”

This is our tribute to one of the world’s greatest and most versatile artists that ever graced this planet. It is your “I” as well as his, that will fuel this exhibit. Let your creativity flow, reflecting one or more of his art “periods” or one of your own.

November 18-November 29 “Whose Your Dada”

This your tribute to a movement that turned the art world on its head. Now it is time for you to stand on your head and influence the world around you though your art.

Joyce Brown tells The Rickie Report, “You may have noticed that we will not be repeating the “It’s A Dog’s Life” show this year. Although everyone loves dogs, it seems far more difficult to sell you works of art featuring dogs, than it is to sell your works on any other topic.  And for the rest of the season, we will turn the front of the gallery back to the member artists. If you are a 3-D artist , please consider joining the gallery (and/or) our new studio. Members do not pay fees to be a part of our special exhibitions. It is part of the membership. Write for an application and we will forward it to you”.

Art Teachers: If any of your students want to participate in any of our exhibits, they may do so without any fee. We welcome your participation, as an artist, as well.
