Autumn is here and so are a new round of events at the Boca Raton Museum School of Art!  Term 2B offers 4 week classes daily.  Visit the Student Exhibition on Tuesday, November 20th. Let’s Get Painting…An Introduction to Acrylics    Ages  10-17

Saturdays November 10 and 17 from 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM

(Includes Lunch break)

 

 

 

 

 

Explore and expand your personal painting skills in an open and encouraging studio environment. This course will focus on the fundamentals of acrylic painting while encouraging creative self-expression. Emphasis will be placed on color theory, basic skill exploration, the principles and elements of design and so much more! Students will learn about their favorite artists and experiment with a variety of techniques. They will have a completed painting at the end of the workshop. A range of subject matter will be explored including still life and nature.

The Boca Raton Museum Art School is busy with on-site exhibitions and events!  The short Term 1B (4 weeks) starts on Oct. 1st and Term 2 starts on October 29th.  Everyone is invited to the 5th Annual Boca Photo Exhibit on Sunday, October 7th. Join Allan Pierce, instructor/professional photographer, for a day of informal discussions and workshops on photography led by advanced students of the Art School.   The first Student’s Exhibition Opening Reception takes place on Tuesday, October 16th.  Celebrate the first term student’s artwork at the Art School main gallery. The class focuses on various foundation skills for painting in a creative atmosphere. Learn how to get started, setup a palette and mix color, brushwork, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, glazing, layering, texture, and how to use gels and mediums. The Boca Raton Museum Art School gives every student the opportunity to exhibit in the Art School Gallery and organizes exhibits off-site as well. The Public Library is hosting an exhibit spotlighting two of the Art School’s classes; the after-school art class with Maria Weiss and advanced photography with Allan Pierce. Mrs. Weiss’ after-school class is a fun and richly educational art studio where students learn a variety of art techniques, coupled with art history and vocabulary. Dr. Pierce pushes his students to use their skills beyond taking good photographs in order to create outstanding emotive photographs.

Boca Raton Museum Art School Partners With Plein Air Painters Of Palm Beach County Plus New Short Courses And Free 2nd Annual BOCA PHOTO

The Boca Raton Museum Art School is partnering with the Plein Air Painters of Palm Beach County to paint portraits of houses and views of the streets of Old Floresta. The outdoor painters will be painting in the neighborhood on two Thursdays per month from September to December.  The culminating event will be a juried exhibit of the painting in gallery of the Boca Museum Art School in March, 2016. The Boca Raton Museum Art School is partnering with the Plein Air Painters of Palm Beach County to paint portraits of houses and views of the streets of Old Floresta.

 

Old Floresta is the Mizner designed neighborhood behind the Art School. There are twenty-nine original 1920’s homes along the picturesque tree-lined streets of Old Floresta.

 

The outdoor painters will be painting in the neighborhood on two Thursdays per month from September to December.  The culminating event will be a juried exhibit of the painting in gallery of the Boca Museum Art School in March, 2016.

The Art School is initiating new “appetizers” or first courses for beginners who want to test out their creative side and for experienced artists to try a new technique. The appetizer courses are short, fun, creative, and do not require lots of art supplies.

Originally the Artists’ Guild conducted classes in Mizner-designed Boca Raton Hotel. In 1962 the Guild constructed the building on West Palmetto Park Road which served as Museum and Art School until 2001 when the Museum opened in Mizner Park.
