Call For 2D & 3D Art By New Studio For Visual Arts’ “Share The Bounty: The Art Of Food” Exhibit To Benefit Palm Beach County Food Bank

The New Studio For the Visual Arts announces a Call for 2D and 3D art for “Share The Bounty: The Art Of Food”.  Debby Coles-Dobay, Public Art Administrator – Boynton Beach Art In Public Places, will serve as juror.  The Art of Food is a unique event, showcasing the artists’ creative process of interpretation.  The exhibit takes place November 4 – 27 and proceeds will benefit the Palm Beach County Food Bank.  The Rickie Report urges artists to apply and art patrons to set the date of November 8 for the Opening Reception!  We share the details here.

SHARE THE BOUNTY: The Art of Food is a unique event showcasing individual artist’s creative process to interpret their definition of “The Art of Food”.

Partial proceeds of sales during this exhibition will help feed countless hungry children and adults in our community. The New Studio for the Visual Arts will be a collection center for non-perishable food items to benefit the Palm Beach County Food Bank.

Open to all 2D and 3D artists.

All artwork images must be within the theme of “The Art of Food”.

CASH AWARDS:

3 Merit Awards…$300 each.

3 Honorable Mention Awards…Certificate only

All 2D work must be properly framed and wired ready for hanging (clips will not be accepted) Plexiglass is required on all shipped work.
Original art work only.
2D work may not exceed 3’x4’ including the frame.
Sculpture cannot exceed 5’ h x 2’ x 2’.
Three (3) digital images in jpg format may be submitted at a submission fee of
 $30 for 1 image,
$40 for 2 images,
$50 for 3 images.
Digital Images should be named with last name, first name, title.
Example: SmithT_HotDogs.jpg
A 40% commission will be retained on any sold work with partial commission going to The The Food Bank. All work must be for sale, No NSF or Price on Request.   All sold artwork must remain in the exhibition until the conclusion of the show.
DELIVERY & PICKUP:
All shipped works need to come to: The New Studio for the Visual Arts, 1615 South Cypress Drive, Suite 1, Jupiter, FL 33469, (561) 295-5712  All art work must be received between October 28 to November 1, 2019 at 4pm.  Shipped artwork cannot come in wooden crates or use packing peanuts and must arrive in a reusable container and include a prepaid computer-generated UPS return shipping label. No U.S. Postal Service returns. ALL SHIPMENTS MUST BE MADE THROUGH UPS. Do not send stamps, cash or credit card information for return of work.
Artists are responsible for insuring their own work prior to and after the exhibition and while in transport. NO PACKING PEANUTS!  All shipments must be sent “Signature Required”. The New Studio for the Visual Arts is not responsible for any lost packages left with no signature required.  Shipments that appear to have major damage upon receipt will not be opened and the artist will be contacted to assist in assessing the damage and determining how to proceed. The artist will be contacted immediately if any major damage is found once work is unpacked. Minor scuffs and scratches to frames as well as typical wear and tear will not be considered “damage” and will be deemed acceptable at the discretion of The New Studio for the Visual Arts.  If shipping, please send an email with the tracking information beforehand to newstudioatthevisualarts@gmail.com. Artists may also arrange for other individuals to deliver or pickup their work and must contact The New Studio for the Visual Arts before-hand.

 

 

PICK UP:
All unsold work will be returned via shipment or local pickup just as it was received. Artwork will be returned via shipment will be packed and returned in the same packing materials that they were received in.  The artist is responsible for arranging the return shipment of their artwork. Pre-paid UPS return labels may be enclosed in the original shipment or emailed to The New Studio for the Visual Arts once the show has ended.
Any work being picked up locally must be picked up between November 29 -30, 2019,.
LIABILITY:
The New Studio for the Visual Arts is not responsible for loss or damage to artwork while in transit to the show and while on display. The artist agrees to allow The New Studio for the Visual Arts, at its discretion, to utilize photographs or exhibited work for publicity purposes but not for reproduction.

The New Studio for The Visual Arts shares a Call to Artists for an upcoming exhibition and benefit for the American Cancer Society. “POP! In honor of the men and women who have touched our lives and fought a battle with cancer, The New Studio for the Visual Arts of Jupiter, Inc. presents “POP! Power of Pink!” A specially tailored juried art exhibition to benefit the American Cancer Society.

 

 

We have all had loved ones who have been affected by cancer and these chapters of their lives are tough, to say the least. The New Studio for the Visual Arts believes we can help make a positive impact through art. POP! Power of Pink” was created based on the inspiration “How do you see pink as powerful?”

 

 

Using color to draw inspiration and power from, artists can submit work in oil, watercolor, pastel, graphite, mixed media and photography. Three-dimensional works in sculpture and jewelry are also accepted. Three awards of merit will be given in the cash prize of $300 each, in addition three honorable mentions will also be awarded in certificates. Sue Archer will serve as juror.

 

Submission fee are as follows: $35 for one image, $45 for two images, $55 for three images.

Erik goes on to explain, “When I create my art, I always see the images in all dimensions in my mind. Every piece takes hours of thoughtfulness and consideration so that the art can tell a story and give the viewer a journey through a world created in a single piece. Some concepts for work can be inspired from the weather or song, and then the ideas flow easily. Other works are themes which can require days of research, and investigation of symbols, history and literature.”

“When I first started seriously as an artist, I didn’t trust myself beyond a white sheet of paper and a black marker.  I created my first works on the basis of my black and white checkered pattern. Over the years I discovered my love of colors and through much trial and error eventually developed the technique of “surreallations”. It is my own way of creating the illusion of depth and movement in a piece. All my works today are carefully developed using a variety of tools and different mediums in order to perfect this technique.  However, in nearly every work I create you can still find the original black and white checkered pattern which was the seed from which my art has grown,” he shares with our readers.

Pat Levey Has Gone to the Horse Races With Benefit Auction!

Artist Patricia Levey confirms her ability to create a wide range of artwork with her latest piece! She teamed up with Polo America and brings us a whimsical 3D polo pony and rider. To celebrate Polo America’s 25th Anniversary in 2014, the organization hosted an original art exhibition.  Renowned artists from around the world painted a limited number of fiberglass polo players on horseback. The statues measure 5 feet 6 inches and were displayed at a number of art exhibitions around the country.  The artists had the option of showing the horse and rider as realistic team or they could be painted at the artist’s discretion, while keeping the structural integrity of the form intact.  Patricia Levey’s agent, Jeanne Chisolm suggested Pat answer a “call for entries” for a 3D polo pony and rider.

He was shown on April 19th at a Large Polo Exhibition game and party in Wellington,FL, traveled to Georgia for 45 days, and then on to San Diego where he will be auctioned off. As an artist I get a % of the proceeds and the rest goes to the Marines “Semper Fi” charity for their wounded warriors.”

Pat painted the horse gold.  The leather is copper, while the polo player ‘s skin and boots are silver.  Using bronze to accent his clothing lets the colors of the ladies  shopping and the shopping bags themselves stand out.

The polo player’s helmet is a bright blue and the buttons on his clothing is gold.  Pat used red for an accent color. She integrated the clocks on Worth Avenue in her design as well.

Zonta Club’s “Festi-Fall” Arts and Crafts Show Calls for Artists and Vendors

The  “Festi-Fall” Arts and Crafts Show is being organized by the Zonta Club of Greater Deerfield Beach. The event is Saturday, September 27th. Artists, crafters and vendors are welcome to apply to this event.  It takes place at the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center (originally Pompano Beach Civic Center). It is located at 1801 NE 6th Street in Pompano Beach, one block west of Federal Hwy and six blocks north of Atlantic Blvd.  Regular classes and events are held at this community center Monday through Saturday throughout the year.

Further, in consideration of the Festi-fall providing us with space for the display and sale of our various products, goods and other valuable wares, do hereby release the Zonta Club of Greater Deerfield Beach, City of Pompano Beach, Community Redevelopment Agency, and any of their members, employees, directors or volunteers from any liability for the loss or damage of product, personal injury or property damage.   I acknowledge full responsibility for all my activities at the Festi-fall and for those assisting me and I agree to defend, hold harmless and indemnify the Zonta Club of Greater Deerfield Beach, City of Pompano Beach, Community Redevelopment Agency, for any damages, attorney’s fees or costs of any legal action resulting from any claims in which they, their members, employees, agents or volunteers are made parties defendant.  This Release and Indemnity Agreement applies for the duration of the Festi-fall as scheduled and to any claims made within the applicable Statute of Limitations for a loss occurring during that time period.

GENERAL INFORMATION

 

Setups for this event will be in the auditorium/banquet hall and stage area.  Spaces will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis after applications are received and accepted.

 

GENERAL RULES

 

  1. Participants and/or assistants must tend their booth for the length of the show (Saturday, September 27, 10am to 3pm). Set ups begin NO EARLIER than 8:00am  Participants must have all work unpacked and on display by 10am. NO EARLY breakdown of booths allowed.
  2. Each participant is responsible for providing a display unit that is attractive and suitable for crowd visibility. Booth spaces can accommodate a 8’ x 8’ area. Electricity is not provided. The participant’s set up, including personal materials, must be contained within their space.
  3. Each participant sells directly to the public and must individually comply and is responsible for collection of 6% Florida State Sales Tax.
  4. Your space is reserved when payment clears. Deposited checks returned by the bank will void entry to the show.
  5. The Show organizers reserve the right to request the removal of any inappropriate work or display.
  6. Applications and booth fees MUST BE POSTMARKED by 09/15/14. Notification will be sent by email.   Participants whose work is not accepted will be notified and all fees returned. Participants who are accepted will receive an information packet.
  7. A reservation is a commitment to show and no refunds will be made for cancellations after 09/19/14. There will be no cancellation refunds due to weather, etc.

 

 

EXHIBITOR RULES AND POLICIES

 

  1. All display work is preferred to be handcrafted by the displaying participant; however commercial products or company-produced products, and resale products are only permitted at the discretion of show organizers.
  2. Use of space is restricted to the participant(s) whose name appears on the application. No booth sharing permitted.
  3. We reserve the right to remove any questionable, non-approved display work from the show.
  4. Booth areas must look professional at all times.
  5. Food participants must have necessary food permits as required by Florida Agriculture Dept.

 

AT THE EVENT

 

  1. Participants must be present and maintain booth throughout the day of the event.   Booth sitters will be available if necessary.
  2. All works displayed must be for sale.
  3. Participants are required to load in between 8:00am and  9:00am on Saturday, September 27, 2014.
  4. No animals are allowed in or around the participants’ booths.
  5. All applicants are asked to supply Zonta Club with ONE DONATED ITEM that can be used as a raffle-type item….value $15+.

 

 

AT CLOSE OF EVENT

  1. Participants are responsible for clean up and trash removal of your assigned area.  Civic Center staff will be available to give directions regarding trash removal.
  2. All activities, including breakdown and cleanup, must be completed by 5pm.

So many children rely on the breakfast and lunch meals provided at their schools.  What happens during the summer when they cannot get to the school?   Stop by the Mandel Public Library to see. Molly and I love being involved in the Dog Tales Program.  We have seen very shy children come out of their shells when reading to her.  Many of the children are repeat customers.  They love reading to Molly and they love choosing the books that they get to take home as part of the program.  You would think that we are giving them gold.  I love that we are encouraging them to read at home and to build their own small libraries.
