Stand Up To Paint Abstracts!

1-60-x-40-painting-walter-oneill

Oil Painting by Walter O’Neill

Paint in a vertical format in this workshop by hanging your canvas on the wall. This ensures that you use your entire body in the process of painting instead of only using your hand and wrist. Working on large canvases with big brushes, students explore composition, mark making, personal symbols, and layering. Re-energize your painting by being completely intuitive and spontaneous.  Whether your style is loud and energizing or calm and relaxed, learn to trust your own artistic urges while taking risks to create powerful art. This 2-day atelier is for expanding your reach, experimenting, and discovering. (45 minute lunch break)

Sunday / Monday, January 15 and 16
10 AM to 5 PM
Instructor: Eydi Lampasona
  Tuition: $185, Material Fee: $20

Masks: Many Faces, Many Selves

bocaartschool2-masks-by-genie-cohen

The human need to mask reveals a desire to take on other identities, transcend limitations, and be renewed, or protected. Creating masks can be an outrageously fun way to find hidden aspects of oneself. Create a mask to affirm your inner spirit or take on a new identity. Your completed mask can be worn, displayed as a work of art, or used as your private talisman. (45 minute lunch break)

Monday, January 15, 10 AM to 3 PM
Instructor: Genie Appel-Cohen
Tuition: $60, Material Fee: $15

“Moon Song” by Andrea Huffman

This year The Boca Museum Art School is starting something different. Rather than the usual one artwork by each faculty member, this year five faculty artists have been invited to exhibit five artworks. This provides the viewer a broader understanding of the artist work. The artists in this first ‘selections’ exhibit are: Andrea Huffman, Teresa Kirk, Miles Laventhall, Allan Pierce, and Roxene Sloate. The Exhibition runs January 31 to March 12, 2017  in the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Mizner Park.
