The New Studio for The Visual Arts shares a Call to Artists for an upcoming exhibition and benefit for the American Cancer Society. “POP! The Power Of Pink” will open on October 11 and run through November 1.  Artists who create 2D (oil, watercolor, pastel, graphite, mixed media, and photography) as well as 3D (sculpture and jewelry) are urged to enter.  The Rickie Report shares the details.  Art patrons, mark your calendars to support this exhibit!

In honor of the men and women who have touched our lives and fought a battle with cancer, The New Studio for the Visual Arts of Jupiter, Inc. presents “POP! Power of Pink!” A specially tailored juried art exhibition to benefit the American Cancer Society.

We have all had loved ones who have been affected by cancer and these chapters of their lives are tough, to say the least. The New Studio for the Visual Arts believes we can help make a positive impact through art. POP! Power of Pink” was created based on the inspiration “How do you see pink as powerful?”

Using color to draw inspiration and power from, artists can submit work in oil, watercolor, pastel, graphite, mixed media and photography. Three-dimensional works in sculpture and jewelry are also accepted. Three awards of merit will be given in the cash prize of $300 each, in addition three honorable mentions will also be awarded in certificates. Sue Archer will serve as juror.

Submission fee are as follows: $35 for one image, $45 for two images, $55 for three images.

Exhibition submission process is being conducted through Juried Art Services.

The Wellington Art Society will hold a reception for the newest Whole Food artist, GG Gonzalez on Friday, April 29th, 2016 at the Whole Foods Gallery in Wellington. Whole Foods will host the evening with delicious canapés, wine and live music. The Art Society asks for a donation of $5 which will go to the Scholarship Fund. It will be a lovely reception for the artist and friends and a great way to start the weekend! The Rickie Report shares the details and some sneak peeks.  The exhibit is available now!

GG Gonzalez is an accomplished local photographer who has been interested in photography since she was seven years old and received her first camera from her mother, a five dollar 110 film one bought at a yard sale. For years she photographed all of her family and friends’ activities, creating a cherished window to the past.

As an adult she was able to take advantage of the advances in digital technology and was finally able to leave the corporate world and devote all her time to her passion, photography. She is largely self taught except for a few classes at Palm Beach Photography Center and keeps up with technology by reading everything she can about photography.

GG loves to travel and has taken working vacations in Africa, Asia and India, collecting a treasure trove of images. Many of these focus on wildlife and the natural world. She is able to share her experiences and emotional connection with nature through her “Travel Gallery”, compiled while visiting some of the world’s most picturesque locations. For viewers it is like taking a personal journey to faraway places.

GG has donated her photography to several non-profit organizations such as ADVA and Cancer Awareness, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Peggy Adams, Woman of the Year and many others. Photography is both a passion and an art. GG states, “I hope my diverse collection both inspires and further develops everyone’s love for life and the arts”.

The Wellington Art Society is a non-profit charitable organization in its 34th year. It is open to artists of all mediums and patrons of the arts, allowing both local and regional artists to display their art work in local galleries, interact with other artists and serve the community through their art.
