Bea Doone-Merena Is Featured Artist At SOLO Exhibit, Cultural Council Of Palm Beach County

When you meet Bea Doone-Merena, she is soft-spoken, immaculately dressed and certainly not one to boast of her own accomplishments.  Bea is a masterful artist whose knowledge of oil painting techniques shows in her museum quality creations. Her Renaissance Grand Masters, Figurative, Avant-Garde, Animals, Still Life and Portraits bring awe not only due to her precision but also to size.  The Rickie Report shares details and some images, as Bea prepares for her SOLO Exhibit at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County.  The public is invited to the Reception on Saturday, Oct. 10th.   The exhibit runs through November 7th.  DO NOT MISS THIS!

Bea Doone-Merena tells The Rickie Report, “My greatest pleasure in life is creating art! From that time in grade school painting murals and attending art classes, I knew my greatest pleasure in life would be art. Other loves presented themselves; marriage, children, grandchildren and friends. Surrounded by their support I finally got the time to return to my first love of art”.

She goes on to say, “The years had passed so I wondered how I could ever catch up. I found a way. I let the Great Masters of art’s history teach me their craft. In reproducing the finest art of the Masters, I’ve found the best teachers who ever lived!”

Bea tells us, “Now, I feel I have materialized the creation of the Renaissance Era in my artwork. The techniques and canvas preparations, the under paintings, rich colorful palettes, and glazes, everything needed to master a Renaissance painting. I delight the most in flesh tones for it is in these tones that the whole paint palette is used”.

Oil is her favorite medium, which “flows over the canvas with a richness not found in other mediums. I apply all these wonderful lessons to bring to life the human body, nature and commissioned portraits”.

“Bea has mastered the laborious and challenging Renaissance oil painting techniques. She enjoys all steps of the process — from preparing the canvas and the systematic underpainting, to sing chiaroscuro modeling effects to give the illusion of depth, and the rich color palette and glazes  — that are required to produce her museum quality paintings”.

After accomplishing the Renaissance techniques as a foundation, Bea has expanded into numerous art forms. New works seem to emerge monthly. This summer her art was an explosion of accents of single color applied strategically to human body parts. They rivet the viewer to experience color shock like a contemporary painting might do. All original creations and unique framing make these one-of-a-kind pieces an investment for your growing art collection.
