Did you always want to paint, but were unsure about your skills with a brush? Instructor, Genie Appel-Cohen will show you all the techniques to create your own art masterpieces. In this not-to-be-missed workshop, you will learn blending, build-up, and scrape down techniques. We will cover simple color theory and composition. Create the art that’s in your heart, with oil pastels! Materials included. 45 minute break for lunch.

  • Create unique and beautiful floral blossoms using a variety of materials including watercolors and acrylics. No artistic painting experience required.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • 10:00 am – 4:00 pm..Painterly DrawingBeth Sloat
  • Take your drawings to a new place with water soluble graphite, watercolor pencils, and/or Inktense pencils and aqua brushes. Learn to use color selectively and with restraint for maximum effect. Graphite pencils, erasers, bristol paper and aqua brushes will be included. Color pencils will be available.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • 10:00 am – 3:00 pm… Figure Painting, A Comprehensive Study – Roumen Boudev
  • Learn how to paint the anatomical structure of the human form while properly mixing the skin tones and applying the principles of color theory. Emphasis is placed on the properties of color, cool and warm color variations, and representing textures. Our objective is to complete a finished figure painting study, while exploring the traditional old masters’ painting methods and techniques.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • ​10:00 am – 4:00 pm..Basic Watercolor Painting – Janet Onofrey
  • Using still lifes as subjects, students will explore basic color usage, brushes, and paper. We will experiment with gradient washes, sponging, scratching, dry brushing, masking, wet-on-wet and more. The Basic session will make you comfortable using this medium and enjoy the flow of color. Some drawing ability is helpful. (Bring lunch for a half hour break.)

  • 2:00 – 4:00 pm… Impact of Van Gogh’s LettersRalph Papa
  • In this 2 hour presentation of slides and demos, Ralph Papa will cover the impact that Vincent Van Gogh’s letters have had on him personally as well as on the world at large. Through images of selected letters, drawings and paintings, Papa will provide a personal understanding and insight into the mind and work of Van Gogh as if he himself were sitting beside us.

Adrienne Walker’s “Symphony In Color” SOLO Exhibition At Mandel JCC In Boynton Beach Is Open To The Public

Adrienne Walker has been passionate about art and music her entire life. Using oils, watercolor and acrylics or stone, as an artist she creates worlds in many dimensions. Adrienne Walker is a native New Yorker who now resides in Boynton Beach, FL.  Music and art were an integral part of growing up with her mother, who was an artist.  Together, they were always drawing, sculpting and painting.  Adrienne’s passion for the piano began at the age of eight.  She majored  in music at Adelphi University and at Queens College.  While living in the Boston, MA  area after college, Adrienne studied music and art history at Harvard University.

Twelve years ago mixed media became the focus of her attention, when Adrienne started painting with Bruce Chandler in Myrtle Beach, SC. During that time she also studied art at Coastal Carolina University, SC.  Adrienne sculpted in stone at the Sculpture studio of Frank Varga, in Delray Beach, Fl and Carrara, Italy. For over the last 8 years she has sculpted in the Willy Reed Studio in Boca Raton, FL.

During the summers in New York she studies and paints with Roberta Rosenthal a Watercolor Botanist and Sumi E Master painter. After moving to Delray Beach, Florida, Adrienne studied at the Boca Raton Museum of Art School where she has taken classes in oil painting with Chris Berlini and Elizabeth Reed plus Drawing and painting from a live model with Barbara Wasserman and Susan Hanssen. She has been juried into art shows there.  Recently she began painting abstracts using watercolors and acrylics with Sally Cooper.

Adrienne’s work has been exhibited and received awards in many shows and galleries in New York, Florida and South Carolina including solo shows at the Delray Beach Public Library and the Rice Museum in Georgetown, South Carolina.  Using Oils, Watercolor and Acrylics or Stone, as an artist she creates worlds in many dimensions. Adrienne shares her passion for the arts as she volunteers for many arts-related organizations, sharing her time and expertise.  She is the Treasurer of Palm Beach Watercolor Society (PBWS), as well as a member of The Artists Guild of the Boca Raton Museum of Art, Women in The Visual Arts (WITVA), GoldCoast Watercolor Society, The Catskill Art Society (CAS) and Old Stone House Art Gallery (Grahamsville, NY).

  • Adrienne won an award at the Delray Center for the Arts January 2014
    for her mixed media piece titled “Comets”.
  • Three of her paintings won first,second and third place at the Grahamsville, NY Art Show
  • Second place award at the Delray Center for the arts for her painting “Windy” .
  • She won honorable mention at the Annual Juried show at the Coral Springs Museum of Art from PBWS for her abstract painting “Fireworks”

This summer she was commissioned by two interior decorators to create paintings for their clients’ homes. One 48×60 acrylic abstract in Florida and a 60×72 in New York.
