The Lighthouse ArtCenter, a 501c (3) not-for-profit, was founded in 1964 by eight artists and Christopher Norton. In the last 54 years it has grown to include a gallery, school of art, gift shop, and art supply store. The Gallery At Center for Creative Education Presents ‘Wild Florida’ Photography Exhibit

The Gallery at Center For Creative Education presents a group exhibition featuring Native, “Wild Florida” Photography November through December, 2016. The Opening Reception takes place on Saturday, November 5th.  Photographer Greg Matthews and The Gallery at CCE Manager Jonathon Ortiz-Smykla present this exhibit based on wildlife, habitats, or environmental impacts. The true art of photographs that come from within the state of Florida and are taken in the wild shares the awe, wonder and beauty of our surroundings. Artists Of Palm Beach County Celebrates 50th Anniversary Of Audubon Society Of Everglades With Wildlife Exhibit

Tonight is the Opening Reception of “Audubon of The Everglades: 50 Year Anniversary Exhibit” at Art on Park Gallery in Lake Park, FL.  This exhibit is presented by Artists of Palm Beach County. Artworks will reflect the Audubon’s mission to educate and inspire people to conserve wildlife, especially birds and the environment that supports them. There are cash prizes and awards. Internationally acclaimed fine art photographer, Melinda Moore will judge for prizes.  An After-Party will be held at the Brewhouse Gallery. N.A.W.A. is the oldest professional women’s fine arts group in the United States, and The Florida Chapter of N.A.W.A. was the first regional chapter in the country. It was founded in 1995 by Liana Moonie, of Palm Beach, a past president of the national organization and Madeline Weiss, who was the first president of the Florida Chapter. All artists wishing to join the prestigious Florida Chapter must first be juried into the Association Headquarters in New York City.

ArtServe was originally conceived and established in 1991 to improve business involvement in the arts. It is centrally located in Fort Lauderdale and shares its 25,000 sq. ft. venue with a Broward County branch library. This multi-purpose facility provides low-cost space where artists, non-profits and the public can hold classes, workshops, performances, meetings, events, and conduct business. The Florida Chapter exhibition coordinator, Janet Gold, obtained this venue for the NAWA event.

Janet Gold is an award-winning artist in her own right who works in a number of mediums, among them pastels, photography, and collage. She states, “I have been a collector for as long as I can remember. Rusty objects, prison art, sock monkeys…objects with an innate sense of design, sense of history, and flavor to the material.” She intentionally works on an intimate scale, which entices the viewer into close proximity to see her integration of found objects, fabrics, papers, and stitching. Her work will be on view.

Timothy Leistner, is the judge for this exhibition. In addition to being an artist and photographer whose artworks have won numerous awards and have been exhibited throughout the USA, Leistner is an author and educator.
