“Dipped In Red” by Lara Chapman

Lara Chapman was looking for a better way to connect with her local community when she purchased a camera two years ago, and began visiting local parks and attractions.  She found a profound love for nature photography and poetry as seen through a camera lens.  Lara has since written hundreds of poems and taken thousands of photographs and created the “Poetry Picturebook Series”.  Her award winning photographs are on display throughout Palm Beach County and beyond.

“Red Hot Lowres” by Lara Chapman

Lara finds satisfaction in watching her work come to life and does most of her own printing and framing on archival fine art paper.  Her photography is a visual medium for showing the exquisite beauty of nature in the world.  Her work showcases the treasures of the planet boldly and without reservation.  Lara lives in West Palm Beach with her husband, two children, one dog and four cats.

Photography With a Different Point of View

S. Aaron Hopkins stopped at the Art Synergy booth during Art Palm Beach asking how to become more involved in the local art scene, as he was new to the area.  He had come to the right place!  In this article, The Rickie Report shares his good news of being accepted into a juried photography exhibit.  He is an accomplished photographer whose work has been described as “gritty, vivid and humanistic. We urge you to stop by the “World Through the Lens” at A Unique Art Gallery  May 14 – June 6th to see Mr. Hopkins’ work!

"Reading" by S.A.Hopkins

“Reading” by S.A.Hopkins

Aaron tells The Rickie Report, “I can’t remember if there was a moment when I decided to become a photographer. I’ve been shooting since I had my first camera, a simple Kodak Instamatic. In fact, through the years, photography has been the one constant in my life.”
"Aaronnoire" by S.A. Hopkins

“Aaronnoire” by S.A. Hopkins

He goes on to share, ” I’ve spent nearly four decades walking around with my camera, taking pictures — or ‘making pictures’ as Ansel Adams once said.  Many of my photographer friends refer to my work as ‘vivid, humanistic, gritty or sublime’. I will let you be the judge.”
"Lincoln Road" by S.A.Hopkins

“Lincoln Road” by S.A.Hopkins

Some of Aaron’s favorite work includes photos he made in downtown Miami and South Beach many years ago – before the glitz and glamour.  He is fascinated by the contrast between then and now.  He says, “As a published cartoonist and illustrator, I also look for more amusing juxtapositions, especially in my street photography.”
"Window Face" by S.A. Hopkins

“Window Face” by S.A. Hopkins

“What I hope my photography captures a moment of visual poetry.  Sometimes it is a bit of irony, other times it is simply a face that catches my interest.  I shoot with intention, but I’m often pleased with the accidental or unexpected that many arise. In the end, it is my hope that these photographs will make you think, feel ….and at least put your cell phone down for a few minutes.”
"Old Man and Mannequin" by S.A.Hopkins

“Old Man and Mannequin” by S.A.Hopkins

Marianne V. is an avid follower of Aaron’s work.  She states, ”  It’s a rare occasion that you come across a photographer that really makes a difference.  I’d like you to look at the work of such a photographer, S.A. Hopkins.  I came across his work on one of the photo sharing sites and I’ve been following  his work for quite some time now. I’ve seen the impact his images have on his audience.  So what makes this photographer so unique? He doesn’t just register the world around him. He photographs with engagement, a close personal connection to his subjects, whether it’s on the streets or more personal subjects and with a passion and a keen and unique eye that makes his oeuvre so compelling… his work is subtle, humorous or gritty at times, but always has the power to evoke emotions to the viewer.”

Mr. Hopkins’ book “Faces and Places” is in the “Staff Picks” section of the Blurb Bookstore and can be found here:

 Blurb’s review:
“It’s hard to choose just one image from S.A. Hopkins’s collection “Faces and Places,” but this one is a real standout for us [photo of the man with hat, shown in this article]. From analog street photography to digital landscapes, the range in this book is fascinating. Though it covers 40 years, there’s a remarkable consistency to the work, but also a sense of personal innovation and exploration. Congrats on a great book!”

"Cottages South Swinton Avenue" by Pat Kaufman

Pat Kaufman’s cottage scene was featured at 25th Annual Delray Beach Festival of the Arts, 2014

An award winning, self-taught watercolor artist, Pat is known for her bright tropical, Key West style of paintings. She lives in a renovated cottage, built in the 1930s, in Pineapple Grove one of the historical districts of Delray Beach, with her son Trey, a disabled veteran.  Most recently, Pat was Featured Artist at the 25th Annual Delray Beach Festival of the Arts. One of her paintings was offered as the free give-away, a promotion by Howard Alan Events.

Pat tells us, “I am inspired by the wonder of color. The transparency and spontaneity of watercolors gives life to my paintings. Here in Florida and other places I have visited, there is so much color all around you. When I observe the trees blowing in the breeze, the sunlight dancing off the leaves or the light shining through blossom petals, it inspires me to paint them and see if I can capture this dance of light.”   We love seeing her work on pillows, cutting boards, tiles and table tops as well as on walls!
