Peggy Greenfield Exhibits at Whitespace Collection’s Booth at ArtPalmBeach and at “Contempo” at the Lighthouse ArtCenter

Whether working with a camera, clay, paint, found objects or torn paper, Peggy Greenfield finds the act of creating art to convey ideas and express feelings challenging and fascinating. Known for her ceramic sculptures and abstract paintings, this year, first in California and now in here in Florida, Ms. Greenfield’s photography has come to the fore. This month Ms. Greenfield’s work will be featured by Whitespace Collection at Art Palm Beach (Booth # 715)  and at “Contempo” at Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta. The Rickie Report shares some views of her work and all the details here.

"Glitz" by Peggy Greenfield

“Glitz” by Peggy Greenfield

As a photographer, Ms. Greenfield has traveled extensively throughout the world and photographed everyday events, objects and scenes that excite her imagination. She’s done the same in her own neighborhoods — for instance, the round photographs above were taken on a sunny afternoon on Flagler Drive in West Palm Beach. Her concept is to select from her extensive files of photographs groups of images that together form master ideas. As a cell, each image is a sliver of reality, but shown together they create a unified story: a time; a place; a feeling; an emotion; an experience; an impression. The aggregated photographs are intended to be sculptural, as the colors and patterns of a collection of prints shape a more visceral dialogue.

"Fantasy" by Peggy Greenfield

“Fantasy” by Peggy Greenfield

Each of the works on exhibition at both ArtPalmBeach and the Lighthouse ArtCenter is an original, signed, limited edition aggregate comprised of from four to as many as twenty-four archival pigment prints. The images are either heat fused onto aluminum or, alternatively, printed onto acid-free paper and framed. In his critical survey of contemporary artists, “Learning to See,” Bruce Helander describes Ms. Greenfield’s work as the product of “pushing creative barriers” by an “informed imagination,” demonstrating a “willingness to explore risk with the nuances of her art.”

"Houses" by Peggy Greenfield

“AUGPILATOQ” by Peggy Greenfield

Ms. Greenfield studied art at Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT) and Dickinson College (Carlisle, PA); and at workshops in Santa Fe (NM), the Armory Art Center (Florida) and Anderson Ranch (Colorado). She earned a master’s degree in communications from Cornell University, a bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College, and studied at Exeter College, Oxford University, England. In addition, she holds a law degree from Dickinson Law School and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States and other state and federal courts.

"Exuberance" by Peggy Greenfield

“Exuberance” by Peggy Greenfield

Prior to attending law school Ms. Greenfield taught at Cornell University (NY) and Wesleyan University (CT). In 1999, after many years of practicing law in Philadelphia, she and her husband, Richard D. Greenfield, formed the law firm of Greenfield & Goodman, LLC.

Since 2004, Ms. Greenfield has concentrated solely on her art. Her work is in private and prominent public collections, including the University of California, CitiBank and the Davison Art Center of Wesleyan University (CT). She has studios in Florida and California and has exhibited at one-person and group shows in the United States and New Zealand. In 2014 her photography was featured in one-person shows at Smith-Andersen North Gallery in California and at PNC in Florida.

Rolando Chang Barrero, was born in Coconut Grove, FL and currently resides in West Palm Beach, FL.  After receiving a BFA School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Rolando became an artist and art activist. Pulling together artists from various media and spectrums of life, his own artwork often took a back seat. His famous Art Walks established the Boynton Beach Arts District as the place to be seen.  He assures The Rickie Report that those will continue on a monthly basis, even as he puts his energies into this new gallery in Lake Worth.  His studio remains at 410 West Industrial Ave., Boynton Beach, FL.  In addition, he and Craig McInnis are organizing Art Synergy/Art Palm Beach ART WEEK for January, 2015.
