Cornell Museum Of Art Hosts 2nd Annual Extraordinary 6×6 Art Sale

Experience extraordinary art and take home an original! The Cornell Museum of Art will host its 2nd annual Extraordinary Art Sale on Thursday, June 25th. A unique display of donated 6×6-inch works will be on sale for just $30. Guests will receive a group number when they arrive, and groups will be called in a random order, giving guests a chance to tag the piece they want. Media includes paintings, drawings, photography, collage, glass, wood and ceramics.  The Rickie Report gives you the details and a sneak peek at some of the artwork, by artists from Palm Beach County, New Orleans, North Carolina and New York!  What a great WIN-WIN! The Cornell Museum has reached out to local artists and artist groups to participate. Additionally, works from artists in New Orleans, New York and North Carolina will be included. The goal for donations is 100 pieces.

Art Sale guests will be able to also enjoy the Museum’s current exhibits, BLING: Art that Shines and ADORNMENT: Faculty Showcase. Admission is a $5 donation. A cash bar and light bites will be available.

 

 

DELRAY BEACH CENTER FOR THE ARTS

 

Now celebrating its 25th Anniversary Season, Delray Beach Center for the Arts offers “a total arts experience™” through events, theater, exhibits and learning opportunities. The historic campus includes the intimate Crest Theatre (in the restored 1925 Delray High School building) the Cornell Museum of Art (in the 1913 Delray Elementary building), and the Vintage Gymnasium (c. 1925). The Pavilion, which opened in 2002, hosts outdoor concerts and festivals. The School of Creative Arts (located on the second floor of the Crest Theatre) offers art, photography and writing classes and workshops. The Center also serves as a venue for community, corporate, private and media events. Delray Art League Welcomes Everyone to Share in Their 50th Celebration

Over the next few days, the Delray Art League (DAL) will be celebrating 50 YEARS of outstanding art and art education in style! DAL is inviting art lovers and art patrons to see the Plein Air Art Contest, extending an invitation for NEW MEMBERS to join,  and sharing the list of AUCTION ITEMS that will be sold at their  CELEBRATION of ART Banquet on February 27th!  In addition, everyone is invited to their NEXT MEETING on Monday, March 9th. New Member’s Artwork

To become a Delray Art League exhibiting member, you must submit three pieces of your original artwork at one of our monthly general meetings. Artwork should be presented to the Jurying Committee between 6:15 and 6:30 p.m. before the start of the General Meeting at 7:00 p.m. Please bring a check or cash. You will be notified by mail of your acceptance. If not accepted, your check will be returned.

CATEGORIES FOR MEMBERSHIP:
 Exhibiting Member $40.00
 Family members (exhibiting} $50.00
 Friend membership (non-exhibiting) $20.00

Accepted Artwork:
2 D ART – watercolor, oil, acrylic, collage, etc.
SCULPTURE – stone, wood, metal, etc.
PHOTOGRAPHY – At this time the photography category is filled
Not Accepted: (except if grandfathered in): computer generated art, crafts, glass, pottery, fiber art, jewelry, bead-stringing, poured molds, flowers, shell craft, etc. Categories not listed will be decided at the discretion of the Jurying Committee, with final determination by the Board of Directors.

Art should be signed by the artist and ready for hanging. Art done on paper should be matted and framed with Plexiglas (no glass). Canvas must be framed or gallery wrapped (no staples showing) with sides painted.

Art Auction Promises Terrific Opportunities to Support Jonathan Dickinson State Park and Artists

The Friends of Jonathan Dickinson State Park presents an exhibit of nature-themed art that includes forty-four artists and almost 90 pieces of work. The Kimbell Center Gallery will host an Opening Reception Friday July 11th.   In conjunction with the exhibition, there will be an art auction.  You can leave your bid and be assured that you’ll be able to keep track of the auction on line.  The exhibition is open to the public with admission to the park. There will also be a People’s Choice award given at the Closing Reception on August 15th.  The Rickie Report shares the details and knows you will not want to miss this!

The Friends of Jonathan Dickinson State Park presents an exhibition of nature-themed art. This is sure to be a great exhibition with submission made from artists throughout the state .  Forty-four artists were selected to display their art with close to 90 pieces in the show with various media represented, including standard and creative photography, paintings, drawings, multi-media, and sculpture. The work will represent nature from parks, all created with each individual artists own interpretation.

Work will be exhibited at the Kimbell Center Gallery with an Opening Reception Friday July 11 at 6:30PM.  The exhibition will be up through August 15th and is open to the public with admission to the park. There will be a People’s Choice award that will be presented at the Closing Reception on August 15th at 6:30 pm.

In conjunction with the exhibition, there will be an auction from June 21 – August 15th. Visitors can bid on items at the center, any day between 9:00 and 5:00, or there will be bidding online at www.friendsofjdsp.com. with a catalog of all available artwork. Proceeds from the show will benefit the artists and the Friends of Jonathan Dickinson State Park, which supports programs at the park.

The Friends of JDSP is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization advocating for the historical, educational, and ecological enhancement of the park. Its mission is to assist park management in meeting the natural and cultural resource management objectives established for the park.
