Kathy Linden tells The Rickie Report, “Art is everywhere! It envelops us! It is energizing! It is the quintessential expression of our world.  I am a University graduate with a degree in art…but that does not make me the painter I am.  I see it!  I touch it! I live it!”  For Kathy, color emanates from all subject matter, whether live or inanimate.

“The reality is not what I am after,” she says.  “It is the never-ending vitality in all things. My driving force to create is my insatiable passion to capture what I see.  Color, for me, is a silent language that speaks to the soul. So, in my world, an abundance of color is essential.  Violating ‘the rules’ is part of the adventure.  I never anticipate the finality of a canvas, as I don’t necessarily continue in the direction in which I begin.  For me, each canvas is an emotional journey into to which I am totally invested”.

“Abstract” by Kathy Linden.  This piece of artwork will be part of the Toys For Tots raffle

Kathy’s goal was to be a medical illustrator, so absolute realism was her focus. As her children grew and she found more time to focus on new artistic developments, she took classes at the Boca Raton Museum of Art School and found her world upside down!  Having had a “tight” hand and agonizing over details, award winning instructor, Miles Levanthall convinced her to take a master art class.

Over the next 10 years, Kathy grew and was encouraged to pursue a newfound freedom in her artistry. She currently has paintings displayed at the International Plaza Office Building at 7280 W. Palmetto Park Road in Boca Raton.  Eight others at currently at the Imperial Point Hospital in Fort Lauderdale will be moved to the Grand Hotel in Fort Lauderdale.  You can find some of her larger works at the Heart of Delray Gallery in Delray Beach.

“Significance of Self” by Kathy Linden

Kathy shares, “Not to be forgotten, I am blessed because my husband supports my creative efforts, even giving up their 2-car garage and making it into an art studio for me! I am living my dream! I love working from home, as it gives me the freedom to go to my ‘special place’ any time of the day or night and in any attire.  When an idea strikes, I have to get it on canvas immediately! Canvas is my substrate of choice, though I do work on ampersand which allows for great texture and absorptions of color”.

Tedd Davis, owner and curator of Tedd’s ArtWorks, will be exhibiting some of Kathy’s newest works, including one which will be raffled off when you bring an unwrapped new toy to donate to Toys For Tots.  Tedd is the director of ArtsUnited which supports all facets of the arts, especially to support those in need.

“It’s Life’s Illusions I Recall” by Kathy Linden

Most of Kathy’s artworks are large, since she has trouble confining herself to a small space.  Besides working regularly, Kathy is involved in networking to “stay in the loop” with other artists and new trends. She is a member of the Boca Raton Artist Guild, Broward County Art Guild, ArtsUnited, ArtServe, Women In The Visual Arts (WITVA), American Impressionist Society, Masters Art Program, and Boca Raton Museum of Art, Art School.
