Video Installation, “Climate Change” by Cheryl Maeder

Cheryl Maeder tells The Rickie Report, “The core of the work is “connection”; the connection to the self, each other and to all life forms on this planet…” Maeder’s photography became the inspiration for the Dove Campaign on ‘Real Women, Real Beauty’, which transformed the way women are viewed in the global media.

Video installation by Cheryl Maeder

Cheryl Maeder is intuitively linked to everything in the world around her and us. Now is our chance to see a variety of her works which focus on relatedness. She speaks for Mother Nature, as a guide to all of us.  The core of Cheryl Maeder’s work is about “connection”; the connection to the self, each other and to all life forms on this planet.  It is Maeder’s philosophy, that we humans are not only of this world, we are also connected to the broader universe.  It is this concept that permeates throughout her limited edition photographs and video installations…

In 2005, Maeder relocated her studio to the Miami area and deeply immersed herself into fine art photography and filmmaking.

This powerful exhibit of original artwork by Alice Murdoch features a comprehensive collection of her work;  a large amount of which explores the struggle with female body image and our relationship with food.  Through Murdoch’s eyes and paint, we join her in this powerful examination of food, people, and female body image through contemporary art.

ARTIST STATEMENT: “I have always wondered why statements are necessary from artists, unless their statements are not clear in their work.  I think my paintings are strong enough to make their own, and that is my statement about my artist statement”. – Alice Murdoch

Clay Kanzler tells The Rickie Report, “Not many times in life is one granted the chance to honor a Fallen Best Friend as I am getting the chance to do on April 22.  Alice Murdock and I were in a show in 1989 and have been best friends ever since with also the added wonderful element of both of us wanting to paint!   She was funny, honest, abrupt, true, humble, stylish, loyal, ran a gorgeous home, cooked and entertained like Martha Stewart did before Martha knew where the kitchen was.  She was also a complete pain in the *** for me because she would always tell me the truth – no matter what about my many dating misadventures or what she truly thought about my painting… there was no stopping her and to be quite honest… I am lost without her.  I love you Alice”

Review by R. Edwards

I recently had the decided good fortune to view Clay Kanzler’s “Mary and Jesus” exhibit at the new and warmly received RCK Gallery in Stuart.  I realized upon entering that there was a palpable atmosphere of contemplation in every corner of the gallery. I noticed a very still and quiet observer with wet eyes on the verge of release…with good reason. I sensed I would be joining her soon, and indeed I did.

There are a multitude of layers in every piece of art that Clay gives to the world. His works are traditionally large format because the heart rendered emotions that appear on the canvas are mined from an infinite vein. Clay uses his art to help him understand the trials, traumas, and tragedy that cross his path. He does so unselfishly and without limitations. He does so with the unexpressed desire to heal and to bring hope and healing to others. The energy and experiences he shares in his art are complex and compelling, and you should be prepared to be moved. You can also safely prepare yourself to be healed because hope for tomorrow is the most resounding message that radiates from Clay’s work.

Taking this show in on Easter weekend felt about the same as flying first-class. The journey is the same, but the experience was heightened. Please understand that your personal beliefs will no way mitigate the power of the moment.  This show is compact with a significant impact.  Exactly the way it was destined to be.

“The Picnic” by Robert Clay Kanzler

Robert Clay Kanzler helps us gaze deeply into the concepts of good and evil, as RCK Gallery shows his collection of oils on canvas with “God’s Light Into The Darkness” opening on Friday March 4, 2022. While soldiers are at war, what are the lives of ordinary citizens like?  How do we talk about conflict? How do soldiers return to “normalcy” after conflict?
