Caryl Pomales tells The Rickie Report, ” For as long as I can remember, I’ve been guided by a creative force. Creative magic began for me as an adolescent. My love of color merged on to canvas in a free and exciting way and I was inspired to continue on with learning more and expanding my creative painting practice. I was hooked! My adult career was diversified however, I continued to deepen my knowledge and awareness of self and my connection with the universe through my artistic expression. I never lost sight of my ultimate dream of becoming a full time artist, painter and creative designer”.

Hand-painted one-of-a-kind Kate Spade handbags by Caryl Pomales

She explains, “Although it seems like yesterday, it’s been a decade since my mom, (my very best friend and mentor) passed away from Alzheimer’s disease. In her final months, she lost her ability to verbally communicate; however, though words failed us, I knew that something must still speak. I learned at this point that when words fail, images and art speaks. Creative signs of affection and drawings became my primary form of communication. A picture became worth a thousand words and a lifetime of love”.

Caryl’s painting practice was influenced by and continues to flourish out of a need to communicate and to express joy, love and compassion. It remains a daily labor of love.  She says, “I truly believe that art shines a light and speaks, some days as a delicate whisper; other days it is a mighty roar. Regardless, I listen to this voice, as I truly believe that light shines a light, and is the only form of expression that speaks unwaveringly!

Listen to your inner voice, rediscover the child that lives within you, be curious and brave, break a few rules along the way and follow your dreams with kindness and a revolution in your heart. The rest will take care of itself.     ~Caryl Pomales

Caryl is an active member of Artists’ of Florida-LLC, North County Art League, Tequesta, FL; The Norton Museum, West Palm Beach, FL; The Vero Beach Art Museum of Vero Beach, FL; The Wellington Art Society, Wellington, FL; The Arts Council of Martin County FL, Stuart, FL.  Recent Recognitions include: Graduate 2020 of the Immersion SPD Course with designer Bonnie Christine. What inspired this show: This exhibit is inspired by a visit to this year’s Art Basel down during December’s Miami Art Week. We were delighted, energized, and creatively stimulated to create ART OUT OF THE BOX (AOOTB) as our next Exhibit theme.

We encourage our members to consider producing new works that are unexpected & surprising coming from artists whose work has become familiar.

The Martin Artisans Guild was created to nurture the production of Fine Art and Craft, increase awareness of local art, facilitate development and networking among Working Artists and create marketing venues for our members.·

  • To promote Martin County, Florida as a center of art.
  • To provide opportunity for artists to exhibit original work to the public.
  • To develop a sense of shared community and support among artists.
  • To foster the concept that success for one artist benefits all artists.
  • To present Artists’ Open Studios as a venue for purchasing art.
