MEET   KATIE  GIANNI

Opening Reception:

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4th

5 – 7 PM

Exhibit runs through October 31st

MEET   THE   ARTIST:

Katie Gianni

Katie Gianni tells The Rickie Report, ” I developed a passion for ink and printing while studying lithography and wood block in college. I graduated from Stockton University of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Arts and Printmaking. After moving to the Treasure Coast in 2015, I found myself without a printing press and in an artistic rut. I began painting with India ink to mimic linocut prints, and incorporated metallics to embellish the subjects shape and details such as feathers, scales, feet and facial features.

“The Hand That Feeds” by Katie Gianni

Katie is an emerging artist residing in Port Saint Lucie, FL. Her eye-catching, ornate artworks are created using a multitude of inks and acrylics on textured paper. Inspired by aboriginal and art nouveau styles, each painting is adorned with metallic gold, copper and/or silver ink, with intricate patterns in white ink. Her work focuses on local and exotic wildlife – including birds, reptiles, insects, fish and other ocean-dwellers; however, other subjects include furniture/home decor items, abstract portraits and repeat patterns.

“Spoonbill In Marsh” by Katie Gianni

Last year, Katie was thrilled to have her painting, “Sandhill Cranes in Moonlight”, featured in the A.E. Backus Museum’s Best of the Best 2017 show in Fort Pierce, Florida. Her artwork will be showing at Kling Gallery Wine & Décor from October 3 – 31.  For more information on Katie Gianni, visit her website at:   www.katiegianniart.com.

MEET   MIMI  McCALLUM

Opening Reception:

Friday, August 24th

5 – 7 PM

Exhibit runs through September

MEET   THE   ARTIST:

“Self Portrait” by Mimi McCallum

After years of creating visually recognizable imagery Mimi McCallum has taken a new direction!  Her new path is taking her into the world of abstract.  The pieces are painted with cold wax medium and oil paint.  Oil pastels, graphite oil sticks and other medium find their way into the mix.  Mimi’s brushes have been laid aside, as the paint is applied to canvas or cradled board with an assortment of tools: squeezes, spatulas, knives, rollers, printing implements, anything is in the game!

“Get Crackin” by Mimi McCallum

This luscious medium can be layered and layered, carved into and scraped away creating interesting textures and fascinating color blends.  The paintings have a history that is revealed and interwoven into the final image. Her one requirement is that the painting will stand compositionally from any direction, so it may be hung and viewed in personal preference.   Mimi’s paintings are intuitive and spontaneous with no initial plan.  Her “New Directions” take her on the creative journey, and she invites us along with her!

“In The Park” by Mimi McCallum

Mimi received her Master of Art Education from Florida International University in Miami, her BA from Montana State in Bozeman MT.  She completed the Florida art certification from FSU in Tampa. Mimi attended Anchorage West High, where her father was an FBI agent.  She is married with two children and two grandchildren.

“Untitled” by Mimi McCallum

Mimi puts her talent to work in her studio in Jensen Beach, FL, and exhibits throughout Florida and the Bahamas.  She tells The Rickie Report, “Through my art I aspire to capture moments in time that relate to memories that touch our hearts. I aspire to create images of objects, places and figures with pleasing shapes and energetic color.”  Mimi’s new work was recently exhibited at Art Synergy 2018.

MEET   MANON   SANDER

Opening Reception:

Thursday, June 7

5 – 7 PM

Manon Sander

Manon Sander tells The Rickie Report, ”I paint things in my neighborhood, things of my daily life which seem ordinary, but for me it’s less about what I’m actually painting and more about my fascination with the effect of light of objects. Painting in oil, oftentimes from life I put my impressions down in thick juicy brushstrokes, aiming to capture the essence and the light on my subject matter and the feelings it evokes in me. “

“Favorite Toy” by Manon Sander

A native of Germany, she painted murals professionally in Chicago for a decade and a half and studied oil painting under the tutelage of well known Californian painters. During that time she developed a unique, glowing style, avidly collected throughout the United States.  “Painting is my way to bring attention to the beauty found everywhere in our immediate surroundings, seen by those who are willing to slow down and look”.

“Secret Garden” by Manon Sander

Manon says, “I find inspiration for my next painting not necessarily in an object considered beautiful in the conventional sense since my desire to paint is mostly ignited by watching the light hitting an object a certain way. Illuminating something in all its brilliance while creating wonderful colors and designs in the shadows, light has the power to elevate an object from the mundane to the exquisite. How light influences color has been a source of endless fascination for me. Expressing my joie de vivre through loose brushstrokes in combination with a well thought-through design and a vibrant color choice translates into a painting that resonates not only with me as artist but also with the viewer, offering him a view of things that might otherwise have gone unnoticed”.

“Cheerio” by Manon Sander

And here’s a little bit of recent Manon Trivia:

– Her work has been juried into national shows by American Impressionist Society and National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society

-She continues to participate in Plein Air Events, the most recent one being the Winter Park Paint Out: Since it was the Paint Out’s 10th anniversary participation was by invitation only and she was honored to have been selected as one of the 25 hand picked artists.

– She continues to travel with her paint brushes to places like Italy, the Bahamas, Bermuda, NYC, Vermont, Savannah, and all over Florida

– Her work is being represented by galleries in St. Augustine, FL, and Fishers Island, NY, as well as the Village Art Studio in Tequesta

– She recently won awards in a juried National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society Exhibition, Plein Fun Fest in Delray Beach, and first place at Sundowner Quick Draw in Ft. Myers Beach.

– She is increasingly sought after for commissions

– She has an upcoming solo show at Pander Gallery in Fishers Island, NY, this summer

– She will participate in a two-women show at Palm Beach Gardens Community Center later this year with Julia Rose

– Her work can be seen at the Village Art Studios at 377 Tequesta Dr. in Tequesta

– She teaches classes and workshops through the Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta during season.

As soon as you walk in you will see original artwork and a Napa-style tasting room where you are invited to sample outstanding boutique wines from around the world, selected by Bill Kling, who will share his passion for wine and stories of his extensive travels too, if asked! There will be bottles of wine and wine oriented products available for you to take home.

Wine Boutique and Tasting Area

As you walk, with your glass of wine, through the Gallery, you will see oil paintings, for your home or business, by Chris Kling, a professional award-winning artist for 39 years. She has a gorgeous working studio in the back of the Gallery flooded with North light from a bank of large picture windows looking out on a creek. Also along the back is a Multi-Purpose room where Workshops will be held.

Handmade furniture and Decorative Items for the Home and Office

As you continue to wander around you will also see custom furniture crafted by Billy Kling, son of Chris and Bill, and unique and charming décor brought to you by his lovely wife, Amanda Kling, Director of Kling Gallery. Keep your eye out for the workshops to be announced monthly – portraiture and plein air workshops with Chris and crafts with Amanda. There is something for everyone in this blending of generations and talent!
