National League Of American Pen Women Fort Lauderdale Branch Announces Call For Art

The Fort Lauderdale Branch of National League of American Pen Women share a Call for Artists for a juried exhibition of all media. The event takes place at the Herb Skolnick Community Center in Pompano Beach, FL.  The public is invited to an Awards Luncheon on Friday, February 10th.  The juror, Lark Keeler, currently serves on the faculty of the NSU Art Museum in Fort Lauderdale.  The Rickie Report shares the details and urges the artists to apply – and art patrons to visit the exhibit, which is open February 1st through March 1st.

About the National League of American Pen Women:

Since its founding in 1897 by Marian Longfellow O’Donoghue, Henry Longfellow’s niece, the League seeks to create progression and advancement in visual arts, literary work, and musical composition. As the oldest and largest women’s arts organization, members share their creativity in a number of ways, including workshops, exhibitions, discussion groups, performances, demonstrations and lectures, fostering networking and friendships among members, while maintaining a high, broad standard of work, effort and strength that comes from the union. Each year the Fort Lauderdale Branch awards three $1,000 scholarships to a high school senior woman who has been accepted and enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college, university or technical school.

Open Call For Art By Women Artists by National League Of Pen Women Fort Lauderdale Chapter

National League of American Pen Women (Ft. Lauderdale Branch) announces its Annual Open Juried Fine Arts Exhibit to All Area Women Artists. Noted Florida artist, Susan Megur is the juror.  This Call is open to women artists in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade Counties. Annual Awards and Luncheon:

The annual awards and luncheon will be catered by Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza. Gifted local artist Tristina Dietz will present a program at the luncheon.  Cost is $25 per person and will take place at 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 12th at the Center.  To RSVP call 954-288- 7972 by Jan. 27th.

Once a year the local chapter of the National League of American Pen Women (NLAPW), Fort Lauderdale Chapter, opens its Annual Juried Fine Arts Exhibit  to all area women artists. Noted Florida artist Susan Megur is this year’s judge for the exhibit.

JUDGE: Susan Megur: Was published in the “The Best of American Artists” and “Best of Florida Artists and Artisans”. Her focus is in both portraiture and the figure.

Monetary awards and ribbons will be awarded on February 12th at the Skolnick Center prior to luncheon and Program.

  • Delivery date:  Wednesday, February 3rd   11:30 – 12:30
  • Judging will take place following delivery.
  • Pick Up date: Wednesday, March 2nd  11:30 – 12:30


At minimum 10% of net profits will benefit the Student Achievement Awards. A major portion of the proceeds will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places with ribbons given for Honorable Mentions.

There will be a limit of 50 works accepted.

NLAPW is the oldest multi-discipline arts organization for women in the U.S. with more than 135 branches throughout the country comprised of professional artists, writers, poets, composers and arrangers. The National organization has more than 5,000 members and the Fort Lauderdale Branch has more than 40 members and affiliated friends.
