Art Lovers And Artists Wanted At Delray Art League’s New Home At Heart Of Delray Art Gallery. New Members Welcome! New Programming And Shows!
As a new season begins, the Delray Art League (DAL) invites new members, art lovers, and the public to their new home in the Heart of Delray Gallery. Over 20 member artists display their work together in this beautiful setting. On Wednesday, December 18, they’ll collect wrapped art supplies, brushes, small canvas, colored pencils, and paint, rather than toys to support our community arts education effort this Holiday season. DAL has teamed up with St. Paul’s Church in Delray downtown for ‘Art Meets Music’ events. There is an OPEN ARTIST CALL to all artists in the surrounding area for exhibit and display space available for members of other like-minded artist organizations beginning December 14 – 15 at Veteran’s Park. Members of DAL also have opportunities to exhibit at Delray Beach City Hall and the Chamber! The Rickie Report shares all of these details, including a few sneak peeks. This is a wonderful artist-networking organization – check it out! And as their new slogan says, “Art Lovers Wanted”! We add: “Artists Wanted”!
Ron Rizzi, President of the Delray Art League (DAL) brings his graphic art, photography, advertising, marketing, and technology background to take this well established group in new directions. He tells The Rickie Report, “In May, we decided to create a few new ways to reach out to our members and also to those that have a love and passion for art whether it be painting, photography, sculpture, glass, drawing or multi media. The first thing I thought of was how and who would we like to reach out to in the community and surrounding areas”.

Patricia Deck “Surreal Tulips”
From using Meetup.com to outreach at SubCulture Coffee in Delray Beach, to offering gatherings for demos and discussions at Jerry’s Artarama in Deerfield on the 3rd Monday of the month, there are many interaction points for artists, both striving and accomplished, to learn and grow! The Rickie Report is a strong advocate for artists to network with each other, so we give kudos to DAL for achieving this!
The Heart Of Delray Gallery
The next hurdle was to find a new gallery “home”, with which Dan Cianciotto, owner/curator of The Heart of Delray Gallery” helped DAL succeed. DAL has space in the gallery for over 20 Delray Art League Artists to display their work and call The Heart of Delray Gallery home. On Wednesday, December 18, DAL will collect wrapped art supplies, brushes, small canvas, colored pencils, and paint, to support our community arts education effort this Holiday season.
Marcos Porcayo “Moods”
Mixing art and music sounded like a great idea, as DAL teamed up with St. Paul’s Church in Delray downtown where ‘Art Meets Music’ and their classical and chamber music concert series continues to be a hit. Ron says, “Baroque cello and violin, easel and acrylic paint – and we were off on any given Sunday having some serious fun without tent pegs, wind weights and mesh”.
Roxanne Lewis “La Bamba”
Ron shares, ” We expect to continue the tradition of our outdoor shows around downtown Delray and as Old School Square space became a premium we were lucky to have plenty of room at Veteran’s Park. We thought it may be merrier if we opened up Veteran’s Park spaces to our neighbors in Boca, Lake Worth and Wellington and beyond. So there is now an OPEN ARTIST CALL to all in the surrounding area! We have exhibit and display space available for members of other like-minded artist organizations to join us in Delray beginning December 14th – 15th. Space is a nominal fee. Insurance rider costs are $30 per exhibitor. We will have to hear from our neighbors before December 11th to plan accordingly to accommodate those that would like to join us at Veteran’s Park. I hope they will”. The call to artists is included in this article.
