Galleria Gilda Gallery Features Barbra Ellison “Trois Visages De France” And Introduces Adult Coloring Class

Galleria Gilda in Lake Worth invites you to an exhibit with Barbra Ellison from Virginia  on January 18th called “Trois Visages De France”. A former Pro-Market Representative for Canon USA, Barbra has traveled the nation and the world.  This Exhibit shares selected images from Paris, and the regions of Burgundy, and Loire. These images were processed and will be presented in 3 different ways through a variety of mediums. Barbra will be doing a presentation that evening, before the Exhibit opens.  The Gallery is also introducing an Adult Coloring Class on Friday, January 15th, with all materials supplied. Participants will have the opportunity to have their coloring exhibited.  The Rickie Report shares the details and some images here.

Barbra Ellison tells The Rickie Report, “In 2013, I traveled to France with my sister to honor my husband Michael, by visiting some of the areas that he lived as a child. During the journey, I documented churches, abbeys and neighborhoods of northern France, enjoying the time with my sister, as well as observing the culture and beauty of the countryside”.

The selection of images from France cover three specific areas – Paris, and the regions of Burgundy and Loire, “Three Faces of France”. These images were processed and presented in three different ways, through a variety of mediums. The first series consists of scenes enhanced by the choice of Japanese paper, printed to create a softness through the torn edges and fibers that run through the scene. Traveling to the second group, the images were printed in black and white on French watercolor paper, and then hand colored with pastels to create the feeling of years gone by, reminders of the turn of the century chalk paintings. The final group consists of images that were printed on hand painted backgrounds of gold. All three groups of images were hand torn and floated on matching backdrops to maintain the simplicity of the images.

She covered events including presidential inaugurals, the Kentucky Derby and U.S. Open Tennis in addition to photographing travel, nature and the landscape.

Robert tells The Rickie Report, “I am attracted to organic form and energy whether it is found in nature, figure or movement. There is an energy in dance I am attracted to, something that takes over the dancer through their movements. This energy can also be found in a static form of living things. Sometimes it is used to convey a feeling or mood, other times to make a statement.”
