Delray Art League Expands Its Programs, Open To All Artists And Arts Organizations As DAL Prepares For 55th Anniversary

The Delray Art League (DAL) announces its new “Artists and Easels” events throughout downtown Delray Beach. DAL hosts First Friday Art Walks at SubCulture Coffee on Atlantic Avenue the 1st Friday of each month and will be adding Pop-up locations near Old School Square.  DAL celebrates its 55th Anniversary in 2021 and is planning its “Vision 2020” Art Festival in the fall and spring of 2021. All events will be listed with ZAPP and are open to members, prospective members, artists from other organizations, and all local artists. DAL encourages artist conversations, meeting new friends, and enjoying the local arts community in Delray Beach.  Best of all, it’s FREE!  The Rickie Report shares the details here.

Ron Rizzi, President of the Delray Art League tells The Rickie Report, “The Delray Art League will celebrate its 55th Anniversary in 2021. We’re preparing for this grand event as we formulate plans for our Vision 2020 Art Festival in the Fall of 2020 through the Spring of 2021. As we schedule these new events and select locations in and around Delray Beach, we’ll be using ZAPP for event registration. Events will be listed there for our members and also prospective members and artists from other organizations. The jury process and event application for each show will make it simpler for everyone to participate”.

DAL will continue with its new “Artists and Easels” events in 2020 throughout downtown Delray Beach. It hosts First Friday Art Walk at SubCulture Coffee on Atlantic Avenue the first Friday of each month beginning at 6 PM. We encourage our League members and meetup.com/Delray-Art-League members to come, join in the fun and bring one of their artworks to be displayed on their easel out front on Atlantic Avenue.

More pop up locations will be added near Old School Square and on Atlantic Avenue later this month and meetup.com/Delray-Art-League will be the best place to follow Artists and Easels events. It’s simple to RSVP as a Delray Art League member or as a MeetUp.com member. These events are open to all local artists in the community. We encourage artist conversations, meeting new friends and enjoying the Local Arts Community together in Delray Beach!  Best of all it’s Free!

About Young Artists Sister City Contest:

Each year, the Young Artists and Authors Showcase encourages youth from around the globe to express the mission of Sister Cities International through original artwork and literature. All students must submit their work based on a designated theme that is announced each year. Artwork is sent from member cities to Washington, D.C. where a panel of judges selects the winners based on originality, composition, and theme interpretation.

This program is a great opportunity to reach out into the community and engage local English and art teachers, and reach a student audience that may not already be included in sister city programming. After the finalists for art and literature have been announced, they embark on a year-long tour hosted by local sister city programs on a monthly basis. This opportunity is available to any city and can help expand local youth programming.

This year’s theme, “Peace through People,” will commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Sister Cities International by celebrating 60 years of global citizen action and impact while looking ahead toward a better future where the world’s citizens can come together and find common ground, prosperity, and peace.

Night Vision and Fluorescent Techniques

by Serafima Sokolov

Serafima Sokolov has developed a unique painting style which she calls “Night Vision”.  Her paintings reflect modern issues such as war, equal rights and theocracy.  Her newest efforts include a series about the Great Depression.

Even though her paintings depict struggle, they are actually lessons in survival, not defeat.  They are about the strength of the human condition. With her parents, Serafima immigrated to the United States just prior to the fall of the former Soviet Union. She has seen a different side to life.

Graduating from FAU, Serafima successfully developed a career in art, primarily working in oils and acrylics.  She enjoys doing murals which can be seen locally while her artwork has attracted nationwide attention.
