Gallery View of Judith Karr Eisinger’s artworks

Born in Budapest, Hungary, and escaping that communist country in 1956, Judy moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she began painting at an early age and, at 13, took first place for the design of the City Holiday Card.

Judy studied fine art at the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Cooper School of Art, which led to a four-year scholarship to Kent State University. After graduating with honors, Judy began her painting career by showing her colorful paintings at the Shaker Heights Artist’s Cooperative Gallery. Her work soon became sought after and now hangs in private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Israel.

Soon after moving to Florida, Judy was commissioned to paint 24 paintings for the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. Over the years, Judy’s talent and wealth of experience has brought an open-minded adaptive process to her paintings, which have earned her a covey of regional and national awards.

Judy is the owner and creative lead at Yudit Design, a full-service advertising and graphic design firm located in Wellington, Florida (www.yudit.com).  Because of her belief that fine art is the essence of graphic design, Judy has received recognition both for her paintings and for her graphic design work which has garnered several Advertising Federation Silver Addy’s.

Ad Campaign For Dole.Com by Judith Karr Eisinger

Judith tells The Rickie Report, “Yudit Design is a brand new kind of marketing/advertising resource for your business. Think of us as an extended ring of top-flight creative and business talent – from award-winning graphic designers, copywriters and photographers, to veteran business coaches, strategists and media planners. Virtually all of whom, by the way, carry Big Agency resumes and have worked on Fortune 500 accounts for the last two decades…. often together”.

Judy tells The Rickie Report, “For me, art has always evolved from impressions of life, rather than a strict rendering of a given subject. In every new painting, I love the ebb and flow of line and bold colors, the power of less is more, and the ways simplicity and boldness together can magically evoke sensation.”

“Jacobs Field” by Judith Karr Eisinger

“To make these wonderful discoveries and impressions, I’ve created a unique process that I like to call “multi-media” — traditional paper and pencil emboldened by techniques using new technology. This method gives me the freedom to focus on being truly imaginative and unbounded, in my approach to the subject, in my process, in my technique.”

“Typically, I begin with an idea, traditional paper and pencil, and an original drawing. I then use computer software to ‘paint’ the solid, bold colors and print my work to canvas. Once on canvas, I complete the piece with brush and paint, making each painting a one-of-a-kind work of art, she explains.”

“Parrot Lady on Parade” by Judith Karr Eisinger

Judy’s style of painting may have changed over the years, but her fascination with the human condition as a subject matter has not.  She shares, “My favorite figure painting was done in college—an aging female model wearing the scars of life. The first painting I ever sold in the early ‘70s was of a homeless man in the depth of a Cleveland winter.  I paint because it’s what I love to do, and always have.  My first painting was in third grade. My last one, thankfully, is yet to come.”

“Escape. A Long Walk To Freedom” by Judith Karr Eisinger

October 1956. Budapest, Hungary: Life forever changed for seven year old Yudit.

Her excitement of starting school for the very first time was replaced by fear as Soviet tanks rolled down her street destroying life as she knew it. One building, one window at a time.

This harrowing true story follows Yudit and her family’s daring escape from Communist Hungary

With the unknown risks and challenges they were about to face, their fear to stay was greater than their fear to go.

Community Artist, Sharon Koskoff spent March, April & May 2020, COVID-19 quarantine time, creating a three-dimensional, mixed-media, mural installation. Koskoff sent out a Call to Artists online and incorporated 164 six-inch square artworks submitted by 113 artists. The works were created “during or inspired by“ their time ALONE in the pandemic crisis. She felt the need to connect with other artists and inspire creativity during this unprecedented and isolating experience. She says, “My goal is to keep all artists productive and working! I built this large-scale mural in the confines of my home, while communicating with other artists, and within the limitations of my computer, printer and ordering materials online. This undertaking has given me a great sense of sanity, in this insane world!”

Sharon Koskoff tells The Rickie Report,  “While living alone with underlying health issues and a stay-at-home order in Delray Beach, I knew I had to stay connected and stay active! As a community motivator and public mural artist, I challenged other Palm Beach County artists to submit a square- sized creation of something relevant that they had made or that inspired them during quarantine. The overwhelming results have kept my creative spirits intact while giving participants a sense of pride, purpose and recognition”.

Michael D’Amato “Two Women at Hagia Sophia”

Michael D’Amato takes the viewer on a journey through shadow, shape, and structure with his photographs.  What does he see that others miss?  He tells The Rickie Report, “Light, shadow and atmospheric change trick the eye and cause an ordinary structure to appear both static and dynamic”. Michael celebrates construction, geometry, and architecture.  He brings the viewer along as he travels the globe.

Michael D’Amato “Queensborough Bridge NYC”

Sometimes, Michael’s perspective makes us wonder where in the world he found such a place – and how we can go there!  His knack for engaging  viewers in this dialogue is wondrous.  When artwork gets you to ask questions, the artist is doing a good job!

Michael D’Amato “Circular Path”

Michael shows us how buildings, as a whole and as parts-of-the-whole, have their own beauty and mystery.  He maximizes natural light’s effect on moving clouds and water. Instinctively, we are aware, but rarely do we take the time to appreciate it!

Michael D’Amato  “Dervishes”

Michael’s travels through Southeast Asia and India are particularly fascinating, as he takes a real slice of life and makes one photograph sing with a story.  He has won awards in juried exhibits and his photographs have been in several SOLO exhibits.  He often quotes American sculptor Arthur Carter, “Only squares and circles, lines and ellipses can elegantly explain and simplify the complex meaning of life.”

Karen H. Salup Is Featured Artist At Palm Beach Cultural Council Gallery February 16 – May 12, 2018

As an abstract expressionist, Karen H. Salup concentrates on the action of painting as opposed to a recognizable concrete image. The brushstrokes act like vibrations of color making her paintings come alive!  The public is invited to her exhibit, “Art & Decor” at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, opening February 16 through May 12.  She concentrates on canvas and works on paper, “avoiding the pretty.” Karen invites the viewer to experience what seems to be her private interpretation of her landscapes, with rhythm and imagery.  Salup has exhibited nationally and has won multiple awards for her work. The Rickie Report shares some sneak peeks and details here.

For three decades, Karen H. Salup has been intriguing audiences across the country with her paintings. A native New Yorker, Karen’s work has been featured in several galleries and exhibits throughout Florida and New York with solo shows at Viridian and Jain Marunouchi Galleries.  Using acrylic, watercolor, and pastels on canvas and paper, Karen H. Salup creates a world that vibrates with bold colors and bright light paired with brushstrokes that evoke a strong sense of movement and energy. Her paintings begin with a theme of nature, but invariably evolve into an imaginative creation that invites interpretation from the audience. Karen’s work is influenced from Impressionism to Deconstructionism to Abstract Expressionism.

“Dancing Waters” by Karen H Salup

Karen tells us, “As with artists of every era, I suppose I’m searching for a kind of underlying unity and order that takes into account the materials on hand, a method, and a fairly clear personal point of view. Form, space, content and especially the qualities of colour and light. As a painting evolves, I find myself making changes which when made, then reveal and suggest other possible directions. Thus, there is an ongoing shift of centers of interest, if not in the basic structure itself.  The works vibrate with color, come alive with brushstrokes, images fight to appear and references to nature seem apparent. The freshness of the gesture allows the viewer to feel the painting develop as though we were making the decisions to add, subtract, change colors and play with the space.”

“My Picasso” by Karen H Salup

Karen studied at CW Post and the School of Visual Arts in New York City.  Her mentor, artist and sculptor, Jerry Okimoto, motivated her to become an “action painter”.  Her main artistic influences are Jackson Pollock and Willem de Koonig.  Karen is extremely active in the art community, serving on the Board of Women In The Visual Arts (WITVA), membership in the Palm Beach Watercolor Society, National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) and the Boca Raton Artist Guild Association.

“Fields of Gold” by Karen H Salup

Karen’s artistry has been exhibited nationwide, with many awards as well as SOLO and Group exhibitions. Her artwork has been included and reviewed in numerous national as well as local publications.  Karen’s artwork is in Corporate Collections of Reynolds Metal Inc., VA; Boston Corporate Art; Merchants Bank of New York City; Amalgamated Bank of New York City.

“Reflections” by Susan Kronowitz

Anyone who knows Susan Kronowitz knows that Thursday morning is her teaching day, both in her Illinois Del Webb Community and her home in Boynton Beach, FL.  She tells The Rickie Report, “I had many years of experience as a painter and studying the disciplines & methods of art as well as art history,  but no formal teaching education. When the opportunity arose, I was excited and love this new chapter in my life!

“Berries and Cream” by Susan Kronowitz

Susan’s artist mission includes,”The spirit of the place or scene is what I wish to reproduce.  Colors are often altered and painted completely different from what I observe…larger-than-life flowers capture the spirit of the garden in which the actual flowers are growing.  I feel that capturing the fleeing light and its effects, the shadows, is what creates a mood in all paintings.  I was inspired by Monet’s gardens on a trip to Giverny and knew that someday, I too, must paint the gifts of my garden.”

Floral by Susan Kronowitz

Susan shares with us, “I feel completely connected to all of my paintings, as they all began with a photograph of a place where I have visited”.  Traveling extensively opens the possibilities of a series of paintings and inspiration for new pieces of artwork just waiting to be released onto the canvas or paper.  Using the College of Lake County as her studio for over 25 years, Susan has been developing her own individual style, gaining experience and honing her craft.  Her artwork can be found in the permanent collection of CLC.

“Fruits” by Susan Kronowitz

Many of her students never had the chance to study art when they were younger, as they were all pursuing career. They are like sponges, ready to learn! “My students give me so much energy and it is amazing what they are creating!  The highlight of the year of the Annual Student Afternoon of Fine Art, a professionally presented exhibition showcase for the entire community to see what these students have accomplished in our classes together”.

Having studied with so many different art instructors over the years, Susan has developed her own style of teaching. “I give the students  the fundamentals and the first two classes are devoted to this.  We study color theory, mixing of paints and making a color chart.  I show them the basics and give them the space to create.  It is always amazing to see what they accomplish”!

“Prairie Voices” by Susan Kronowitz

In 2003, “Prairie Voices: A Collection of Student Writing/Art” was published  through the College of Lake County, highlighting Susan’s artistry. The Disappearing Barns of Illinois   “I actually was proud at one time to say that I don’t paint barns, but then they called me”.  Susan started her “Barn series” in response to the many farms being lost to developers in Lake County and the surrounding area.  Her paintings have become a “record of the barns that inhabited the land before the subdivisions that are now the urban landscape”.

“Disappearing Illinois Barns” by Susan Kronowitz

Students share, “From the first day I met her, I knew Susan was the teacher for us.  With her flexible attitude and ability to listen to our needs, each student has embraced painting and discovered abilities they didn’t even realize they possessed”!  May students had never drawn or painted before coming to Susan’s class.  It is remarkable the talent people have hidden within them. Susan teaches and encourages each student with a positive attitude. Through the years, she’s changed direction, depending on the groups’ needs. She invited inspiring artists to speak and arranges field trips to underline the necessity of nurturing while opening a new world to their eyes”.

Susan Kronowitz’ Art Work Published

Susan tells us, “The medium of Colored pencil lends itself so nicely to express food such as fruits and vegetables.  The style I developed is a painterly effect, obliterating the pencil mark and making images appear to be painted.  I was beyond thrilled to be included in “The Best Of Colored Pencil 1 and 2”, published by the Colored Pencil Association of America.  Imagine having my image chosen for the outside of The Gift Set of Colored Pencil I & II!

Susan Kronowitz’ Collection at Vida

For Susan’s 70th birthday, her younger daughter compiled a 193 page book, with professional photos, of Susan’s “Creative Lifetime Journey”.   Even as this article publishes, Susan continues to create and find new outlets for her beautiful paintings. Her latest endeavor is a collaboration with the Vida Company, which creates original, inspiring apparel based on Susan’s artwork.  Together, with Vida, Susan has created pillows, scarves, wraps, totes, and fashionable tops, all featuring her original designs.  Susan has received many awards for her artwork and her paintings have been exhibited in numerous shows, and can be found in several public and private collections.  In addition to working in colored pencil and oil painting, Susan brings her unique visual eye to beaded artistry as well.

“Third Day” by Tanya Witzel

After receiving a B.S. degree from the University of Illinois, Tanya pursued additional training at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Illinois Institute of Technology. The emphasis on color and design studies at I.I.T has had a marked impact on the direction of her work. It led to the use of multiple gradations of value which cause geometrical forms to take on depth and dimension. The result conveys the sensation of going beyond the canvas, drawing the viewer into the painting, down corridors, through archways and between columns.  Thus, they stimulate both the eye and the intellect.

“Phantasia” by Tanya Witzel

Tanya  taught high school in Chicago, Washington DC and Maryland while continuing to paint and exhibit. She also exhibited in the New York area and Los Angeles before moving to Florida.  She is an award winning artist who has also had her artwork published in American Home Magazine, The Designer (Cover), Interiors Magazine, Arts Magazine, Galleries Magazine (Washington DC) and Potomac Magazine (Washington Post).

“Archways” by Tanya Witzel

Inspired by travel, the “Illusion” theme was nurtured resulting in paintings of columns and pillars as abstractions of Greco-Roman architecture. The application of the subtle color gradation, light and shadow, plus the use of perspective, allows an infinite number of variations on the basic architectural fantasy theme. This variation is clearly demonstrated by a series combining architectural structure and form with the broadening dimension of textural surfaces, patterns and nature’s vistas. The result for the viewer is a contemporary glimpse of illusionary forms that hover between past, present and future, drawing the viewer into a fantastic voyage
