Artisans and vendors from many parts of the country bring their best wares to this show each year. There is handcrafted jewelry created from beads, rocks, silver, copper, and more. There will be rock slabs, cabochons (flat-backed) and faceted gemstones from around the globe.

Shopping for a special piece of jewelry for a gift or for yourself?

Additional highlights include raffles for jewelry custom-made by club artisans and hourly drawings for items contributed by the vendors, as well as a silent auction with numerous unique items donated by club members such as jewelry, beads, stones, books, and equipment. Children are always welcome with a special area where they can learn about rock and gemstone identification and make their own jewelry.

Do you make jewelry and need something unusual to perfect your latest design?

Attendees who want to learn the skills will have the opportunity to join the St. Lucie County Rock and Gem Club, which offers many different classes to its members. Anyone wanting to join the club can take advantage of the show special and for $40 get 14 months for the price of 12.

Want to sell unwanted jewelry so you can buy something new?

Are you interested in making jewelry, but don’t know where to start?

Sign up for a class (only $5) and make a piece of jewelry that you will be proud to wear home. Club members will also demonstrate a variety of techniques, including bead weaving, faceting (turning a bit of rock into a sparkling gem), creating cabochons, wire wrapping and weaving, and chain maille.

Fascinated by geology and gems or love looking at nature’s beautiful gifts?

Our mission is simply to provide a gathering place, forum and network to promote lapidary and related arts. The St. Lucie County Rock and Gem Club welcomes members from the counties of Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Brevard and beyond.

The St. Lucie County Rock and Gem Club was founded in 1975 when area rockhounds decided to organize and share their knowledge and skills. The Club now has more than 100 active members from throughout the region. Classes are offered in the club’s fully-equipped workshop throughout the year. Each class is taught by a skilled volunteer who is a club member. Classes are held in 8-week increments, with additional “pop-up” classes available as demand and opportunity occur.

Fees for the classes range from $35 to $65. Open workshop times are also available for a fee to members who have demonstrated experience with the tools and equipment. The monthly general membership meeting is held on the fourth Sunday of the month. Because of COVID, meetings are currently held via Zoom (remote presence via computer). When possible, the club will return to its former gathering place at the White City Methodist Church on Midway Road (opposite Nelson Family Farms) in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome to attend.

St. Lucie County Rock and Gem Club benefits The Bob and Ruth Young Memorial Scholarship for a student at Indian River State College.
