Noelle McCarthy’s Endless Curiosity With Nature Can Be Seen At New Solo Exhibit At Eissey Campus Theatre Lobby Gallery In Palm Beach Gardens

Noelle McCarthy‘s “A Tribute to Nature” a Solo Art Exhibit brings the viewer up close with some stunning images. The Eissey Campus Theatre Lobby Gallery  exhibit opens April 2 and runs through May 1, 2022.  From her colorations to her innate understanding of her subjects, this Free Exhibit is not to be missed!  The Rickie Report shares the details and some sneak peeks.

Noelle McCarthy, based in Delray Beach, FL. was born and raised in Clifden, Ireland, a small rural town on Ireland’s remote and rugged west coast known as “The Wild Atlantic Way”.  As a child she was surrounded by nature, many pets, seaside trips, mushroom picking in the fields with her Dad, and Sunday drives in the countryside with her Mom.  “I was captivated by art and any type of creativity at school, although art classes were few and far between.  In my teens, I was immersed in the horse culture going to shows and enjoying rides in the woods and open fields in Graiguenamanagh.  I later moved to Dublin to work as a Secretary and attend the College of Marketing and Design at night.  Wanderlust struck and then I just had to travel and did so for years, starting by working in Paris, London, Asia, Thailand and Australia and eventually ended up settling in the US”.

“Cactus Sunburst” by Noelle McCarthy

Her interest in art blossomed during classes with Talin Lyman.  With a curiosity and deep connection with nature, her mission is to bring awareness to the need to protect and preserve wildlife and their habitats. Noelle’s first commission was to paint 100 Hibiscus Blooms for the remodel of The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, FL. A regular in Juried Group Art Exhibits, this is Noelle’s first Solo Exhibition – “A Tribute to Nature”.

Noelle tells The Rickie Report, ” With each painting there is always something that catches my eye, whether it is a pose or stance, striking color, or composition. My paintings are very personal and related to a meaningful worthy cause. The emotion can be empathy towards an animal and my desire to help, or it can be just a peaceful scene that I don’t want to leave behind.  As I explore the natural world I anticipate what my next creation will be.   Each painting is like an extension of me and there’s no better honor than for others to see or feel what I am trying to convey while appreciating nature’s beauty.  I want viewers to be touched by an inner connection that translates to their own lives.”

“Flamingo Stand Tall” by Noelle McCarthy

Working and traveling throughout Europe, Asia and Australia provided her with influences of diverse landscapes. Noelle loves the adventure of exploring and trips to the Everglades, Wildlife Refuges and Sanctuaries provide endless inspiration. She paints en plein air on Everglades Day annually at Arthur R. Marshall National Wildlife Refuge and takes part in Endangered Exhibitions supporting wildlife organizations.  She shares, “I participate annually in the Center for Great Apes Endangered Art Contest, to promote and support their efforts to save animals”.

Painting in acrylic works well for her as it allows Noelle to paint boldly and vibrantly (and she likes that it dries quickly, so that colors can be layered with less wait time and with more control of the texture and consistency). Noelle’s painting compositions vary from up close and personal, to wide open landscapes leading you in. She is drawn to color, flow and movement and her style is Interpretative Realism sharing highly detailed subjects, but her work remains Expressive.  Attending an Artist Residency at Desert Mountain Retreat in New Mexico provided peace, solitude and much inspiration while experiencing the landscape of Georgia O’Keefe who she admires, along with South African wildlife artist, James Stroud.

“New Year’s Sunrise” by Noelle McCarthy

Noelle was featured in New Times “10 Best Visual Artists in Palm Beach County” and most recently featured in “Art Adventures of the Palm Beaches ‐ The Art of Making Place” TV show and currently LIVE “Creativity Takes Flight” show on PBC TV Channel 20. She is a member of  Artists of Palm Beach County, Plein Air Palm Beach Meet Ups, Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, and Friends of Arthur R. Marshall National Wildlife Refuge.

“Home Sweet Osprey” by Noelle McCarthy

Noelle’s artwork can be seen at the The FLOW Exhibition at Palm Beach International Airport Art Gallery through June 13, 2022 – celebrating the beauty, mystery, joy and life-sustaining benefits there are to experience throughout Palm Beach County’s diverse aquatic ecosystems. She is also in the Member’s Exhibit, Artists of Palm Beach County at Artworks, Northwood, now through April 11, 2022.

Community Artist, Sharon Koskoff spent March, April & May 2020, COVID-19 quarantine time, creating a three-dimensional, mixed-media, mural installation. Koskoff sent out a Call to Artists online and incorporated 164 six-inch square artworks submitted by 113 artists. The works were created “during or inspired by“ their time ALONE in the pandemic crisis. She felt the need to connect with other artists and inspire creativity during this unprecedented and isolating experience. She says, “My goal is to keep all artists productive and working! I built this large-scale mural in the confines of my home, while communicating with other artists, and within the limitations of my computer, printer and ordering materials online. This undertaking has given me a great sense of sanity, in this insane world!”

Sharon Koskoff tells The Rickie Report,  “While living alone with underlying health issues and a stay-at-home order in Delray Beach, I knew I had to stay connected and stay active! As a community motivator and public mural artist, I challenged other Palm Beach County artists to submit a square- sized creation of something relevant that they had made or that inspired them during quarantine. The overwhelming results have kept my creative spirits intact while giving participants a sense of pride, purpose and recognition”.

Michael D’Amato “Two Women at Hagia Sophia”

Michael D’Amato takes the viewer on a journey through shadow, shape, and structure with his photographs.  What does he see that others miss?  He tells The Rickie Report, “Light, shadow and atmospheric change trick the eye and cause an ordinary structure to appear both static and dynamic”. Michael celebrates construction, geometry, and architecture.  He brings the viewer along as he travels the globe.

Michael D’Amato “Queensborough Bridge NYC”

Sometimes, Michael’s perspective makes us wonder where in the world he found such a place – and how we can go there!  His knack for engaging  viewers in this dialogue is wondrous.  When artwork gets you to ask questions, the artist is doing a good job!

Michael D’Amato “Circular Path”

Michael shows us how buildings, as a whole and as parts-of-the-whole, have their own beauty and mystery.  He maximizes natural light’s effect on moving clouds and water. Instinctively, we are aware, but rarely do we take the time to appreciate it!

Michael D’Amato  “Dervishes”

Michael’s travels through Southeast Asia and India are particularly fascinating, as he takes a real slice of life and makes one photograph sing with a story.  He has won awards in juried exhibits and his photographs have been in several SOLO exhibits.  He often quotes American sculptor Arthur Carter, “Only squares and circles, lines and ellipses can elegantly explain and simplify the complex meaning of life.”

Karen H. Salup Is Featured Artist At Palm Beach Cultural Council Gallery February 16 – May 12, 2018

As an abstract expressionist, Karen H. Salup concentrates on the action of painting as opposed to a recognizable concrete image. The brushstrokes act like vibrations of color making her paintings come alive!  The public is invited to her exhibit, “Art & Decor” at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, opening February 16 through May 12.  She concentrates on canvas and works on paper, “avoiding the pretty.” Karen invites the viewer to experience what seems to be her private interpretation of her landscapes, with rhythm and imagery.  Salup has exhibited nationally and has won multiple awards for her work. The Rickie Report shares some sneak peeks and details here.

For three decades, Karen H. Salup has been intriguing audiences across the country with her paintings. A native New Yorker, Karen’s work has been featured in several galleries and exhibits throughout Florida and New York with solo shows at Viridian and Jain Marunouchi Galleries.  Using acrylic, watercolor, and pastels on canvas and paper, Karen H. Salup creates a world that vibrates with bold colors and bright light paired with brushstrokes that evoke a strong sense of movement and energy. Her paintings begin with a theme of nature, but invariably evolve into an imaginative creation that invites interpretation from the audience. Karen’s work is influenced from Impressionism to Deconstructionism to Abstract Expressionism.

“Dancing Waters” by Karen H Salup

Karen tells us, “As with artists of every era, I suppose I’m searching for a kind of underlying unity and order that takes into account the materials on hand, a method, and a fairly clear personal point of view. Form, space, content and especially the qualities of colour and light. As a painting evolves, I find myself making changes which when made, then reveal and suggest other possible directions. Thus, there is an ongoing shift of centers of interest, if not in the basic structure itself.  The works vibrate with color, come alive with brushstrokes, images fight to appear and references to nature seem apparent. The freshness of the gesture allows the viewer to feel the painting develop as though we were making the decisions to add, subtract, change colors and play with the space.”

“My Picasso” by Karen H Salup

Karen studied at CW Post and the School of Visual Arts in New York City.  Her mentor, artist and sculptor, Jerry Okimoto, motivated her to become an “action painter”.  Her main artistic influences are Jackson Pollock and Willem de Koonig.  Karen is extremely active in the art community, serving on the Board of Women In The Visual Arts (WITVA), membership in the Palm Beach Watercolor Society, National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) and the Boca Raton Artist Guild Association.

“Fields of Gold” by Karen H Salup

Karen’s artistry has been exhibited nationwide, with many awards as well as SOLO and Group exhibitions. Her artwork has been included and reviewed in numerous national as well as local publications.  Karen’s artwork is in Corporate Collections of Reynolds Metal Inc., VA; Boston Corporate Art; Merchants Bank of New York City; Amalgamated Bank of New York City.

“Third Day” by Tanya Witzel

After receiving a B.S. degree from the University of Illinois, Tanya pursued additional training at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Illinois Institute of Technology. The emphasis on color and design studies at I.I.T has had a marked impact on the direction of her work. It led to the use of multiple gradations of value which cause geometrical forms to take on depth and dimension. The result conveys the sensation of going beyond the canvas, drawing the viewer into the painting, down corridors, through archways and between columns.  Thus, they stimulate both the eye and the intellect.

“Phantasia” by Tanya Witzel

Tanya  taught high school in Chicago, Washington DC and Maryland while continuing to paint and exhibit. She also exhibited in the New York area and Los Angeles before moving to Florida.  She is an award winning artist who has also had her artwork published in American Home Magazine, The Designer (Cover), Interiors Magazine, Arts Magazine, Galleries Magazine (Washington DC) and Potomac Magazine (Washington Post).

“Archways” by Tanya Witzel

Inspired by travel, the “Illusion” theme was nurtured resulting in paintings of columns and pillars as abstractions of Greco-Roman architecture. The application of the subtle color gradation, light and shadow, plus the use of perspective, allows an infinite number of variations on the basic architectural fantasy theme. This variation is clearly demonstrated by a series combining architectural structure and form with the broadening dimension of textural surfaces, patterns and nature’s vistas. The result for the viewer is a contemporary glimpse of illusionary forms that hover between past, present and future, drawing the viewer into a fantastic voyage

Third Annual Summer In Paradise Transforms West Palm Beach Waterfront Into Artistic Storybook Setting

The City of West Palm Beach will celebrate the return of its popular Summer in Paradise (S.I.P) annual celebration beginning June 1 through August 31, 2017. This free, summer-long promotion will transport residents and visitors into a colorful collection of classic tales and treasured life-lessons along the waterfront. New elements include the debut of Aesop’s Tables, a whimsical art installation featuring 25 picnic tables painted to depict one of Aesop’s fables. A direct tie to Mayor Jeri Muonio’s pledge declaring West Palm Beach as a City of Kindness, the storybook setting provides an opportunity for all to connect, explore local art, share their own stories and enjoy family friendly activities on the West Palm Beach waterfront.  The Rickie Report shares the details. ENJOY!

NEW ART INSTALLATION ON THE WATERFRONT
Presented by the City of West Palm Beach Art in Public Places, Aesop’s Tables celebrates the talents of local artists and features 25 painted picnic tables illustrating a timeless Aesop fable, such as The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Tortoise and the Hare, and more. Just as Aesop’s fables have reached across centuries, continents and cultures, Aesop’s Tables invites visitors to enjoy light-hearted lessons, laughter and conversations on the waterfront. The summer long outdoor art installation makes its waterfront debut on Thursday, June 1, 2017 during the S.I.P kickoff at Clematis by Night. Additional programming for the art installation will include nightly music and pop-up performances, storytelling, poetry readings, games and interactive programming all summer long and a weekly Aesop’s Tables Artist Showcase at the Waterfront Visitor Center.

Ilene Adams was invited to create a piece for The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County’s, “Mark My Words” Exhibition, Opening March 30. Ilene created an installation piece, “I Am All Immigrants”, based on her grandfather’s hand-written birth certificate from Russia that she found when her mom passed. The piece, based on the translated words, explores being an immigrant and some of the issues our country now faces.

About  “Mark My Words”:

The use of language has evolved dramatically with the advancement of technology and how it influences our lives. Texting and emails have replaced older methods of communication and our lexicon includes new words and phrases. Utilizing words in art is nothing new: think Ed Ruscha or John Baldessari, the Ancient Egyptians or the art in Medieval Churches across Europe. This exhibition will showcase the work of 15 professional artists in Palm Beach County that feature “words” as their subject matter and muse.

Adams works in both mixed media and photography, often combining the two in installation pieces. Her photography is generally bright, over-accentuated colors that push the limits and transform everyday objects and nature into abstract images. Her mixed media work, on the other hand, is usually nostalgic and delicate, and looks at how our world and life mesh together.
