Cheryl Phan Shares Her “Paint For Children” Initiative, Giving Children Artwork To Smile About
The Rickie Report feels that Thanksgiving Day is a most appropriate time to share Cheryl Phan’s “Paint For Children” initiative. This new not-for-profit’s mission is to brighten a child’s world with art. Each child chosen for this project is facing challenges, many life threatening. Painting a favorite character or theme in their room gives them a sense of pride and special comfort. We share the details here and urge our readers to share – their artistic talents, their time to help this organization, and donations.
Speaking With Cheryl Phan, Initiator of
Paint For Children:
TRR: What is the mission of Paint for Children?
CP:
Our mission is to make a child smile and brighten up their world through art.
TRR: What have you accomplished thus far?
CP:
We have already created a room for a little boy and our second room makeover was for a little girl on November 19, 2016

TRR: How can other artists and volunteers get involved?
CP:
We are always looking for talented people to help with our projects. We also welcome anyone that would like to help with set up, clean up, and a handyman that can help with other odds and ends that are sometimes needed.
Volunteers can email me at support@paintforchildren.org
TRR: How do people apply to have their children’s rooms painted?
CP:
Anyone can nominate a special needs child for a makeover, just go to our website and there is a nomination page to register.

TRR: What other partners are you looking for?
CP:
We would love to partner with Best Buy, Target, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Benjamin Moore, to name a few. Our goal is to open chapters across the United States, so partnering with national corporations would have a tremendous impact on our mission!
TRR: If people aren’t able to offer their time, can they make a donation?
CP:
We appreciate every penny we receive and every hour someone can volunteer! Here are different ways you can reach us:

TRR: Tell us about your own artwork.
CP:
I love painting and creating things; walls, ceilings furniture; you name it I’ll paint it. I started my own faux finishing and decorative painting business 14 years ago called Artzy Fartzy Creations. It has since expanded into repurposing furniture and teaching classes on refinishing out-dated furniture pieces. I also write a monthly blog “Easy Peasy DIY Projects”. People can sign up for on my website: http://artzyfartzycreations.com
TRR: As there anything else you want to share with our readers?
CP:
We are always looking for volunteers with or without art experience. The more volunteers we have the more children we can bless. Palm Beach County is our first Chapter. As we grow we will open additional Chapters across the US. At this time, we are scheduled to do a room makeover once a quarter, that’s four per year per chapter. We would love it if we could do one per month, but we can’t do that without volunteers and donations. If you are interested in helping please contact us at support@paintforchildren.org
